Gender Identity Humans are unique creatures, each one different from the next; there are distinctive characteristics that every individual has. Whether this is how they style their hair, eat their cereal in the morning, or the job they prefer. These are all choices made by an individual or each human based on how they feel or how they have done things since birth. But there are a few things that in today’s society people think are one of these choices. Things like sexual orientation, romantic orientation, and gender identity have had negative stigmas placed on them because of the thought that these types of orientations are choice. Religion says that any choice other than the normal one is a sin; others say that the people who feel these different things are abominations and serve no purpose in the world. Society tends to think that these orientations are all choices, with the one that they focus on most being an
This spectrum can contain millions of different gender identities and orientations because every person might explain their feeling in a different or unique way. These genders tend to receive negative influence and responses because some tend to think that they are not a real thing or that these individuals are just looking for attention. Some of these include but are not limited to; Gender Fluid, Androgynous, Bigender, or Genderqueer. These genders are each unique in their description and how they may be categorized when observed by a professional therapist or psychologist. Transsexualism is another of these non-heteronormative gender based feelings or identity. Transsexual people are unique in the way that the chemistry and anatomy of their body do not align with the gender their brain wants to be represented as. Both non-conforming genders and Trans individuals are grouped with a diagnosis of a mental disorder, this being called Gender Identity Dysphoria or GID
