AmeriSource Health Corporation combined with Bergen Brunswig Corporation in 2001to form AmerisourceBergen Corp., located in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. The company's motto is "Because It's All Right Here”. (Fortune 500 Mission Statements, 2015). Since the inception of AmerisourceBergen, the company focuses on pharmaceutical distribution as a drug corporation.
There are two branches consisting of AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation that delivers drugs to institutional healthcare providers, such as drug stores and nursing homes and helps them to package, deliver and promote their product. Mission and vision statements communicate strategic goals. “To provide superior patient-centered care using appropriate and innovative evidence-based practices” is a mission better aligned with Amedisys new direction. Additionally, “Drive growth by delivering a full range of holistic health care services, while cultivating a culture of compassion” is a vision that could be used to inspire employees to achieve Amedisys’ purpose.
In order to sustain the market share in this highly competitive industry the pharmacies have to establish and maintain strong working relationships with PBMs that have power to divest particular clients from a pharmacy by denying reimbursement privileges to their customers.

There are a large number of public traded companies in the United States; as a registered nurse, the author recognizes the impact the company has in improving patient care. Salix Pharmaceuticals is a specialty company located in Raleigh, NC that provides treatment and interventions to patients with gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. The company is led by Chief Executive Officer, Carolyn Logan and has raised over $4 billion dollars to date (Salix Pharmaceuticals, 2013). Salix’s mission is “commitment to being the leading U.S. specialty pharmaceutical company, licensing, developing, and marketing innovative products to healthcare professionals to treat GI disorders in patients”(Mission section, para.1). The mission statement for Harley Davidson is shorter than one might expect based on the components that are contained within an ideal mission statement. The breakdown of the eight characteristics of an ideal mission statement is fairly comprehensive despite the brevity of the statement. Although as will be discussed there is room for improvement in addressing all the components of an ideal mission statement. Aguinis (2013) points out that at times vision and mission statements can blend together; this is evidently the case with Harley Davidson as well as will be discussed.
Mission Statement: As an educator I will provide for students the opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives to help them accomplish unexpected goals.
