Throughout history, there have been many celebrities who have fought intensively for a fairer and equality world; Mother Teresa, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Malala Yousafzai are personalities who have promoted world peace. Ending slavery, racial discrimination, promoting the equal treatment of people in society, and improving the welfare of others through charitable and humanitarian, were the concerned about these exceptional figures. This paper’s main purpose is to focus in the most charitable and blessed woman in history, Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, best known as Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa with 38 years old and without economic resources, became the leader of her new congregation called the Missionaries of Charity, a new religious order that would be dedicated to positively influence the lives of people not only in India, but also around the world. Mother Teresa was awarded and recognized for her arduous and active work; some examples of these awards include the Prize of the Good Samaritan, Boston in 1971, the Angel of Charity Award in 1972, the Templeton Prize in 1973, the first Albert Schweitzer International Prize in 1975, and last but not least, in 1979, Mother Teresa received the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her humanitarian work (Myers, A. 2013). This person of immense compassion always dedicated to the poor and her own religious community definitely was touched and influenced by her religious foundation. Her parents were devoted to the Catholic Church, and she was baptized with 11 days old; they were the first to influence the life of Mother Teresa; they were the first to instill in Mother Teresa the love of God. She was also influenced by the religious community, since she belonged to a Catholic youth organization called the Daughter of Mary (T., Benenate, B., & Durepos, J. 2002). As Albert Bandura stated in his theory of Social Learning, children learn from the environment through the process of observational learning. Mother Teresa and her mother lived next to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, and they were always participating in religious services and missionary matters (T., Benenate, B., & Durepos, J. 2002). At only 12 years old, Mother Teresa felt the call of the Lord to become a nun, but it is not until she is 18 years old that she is admitted to the convent of the Sister of Our Lady of Loreto. At Saint Mary’s School, Mother Teresa was a geography and history teacher until she felt the call of God to serve the poor, from that moment on, Mother Teresa began her long journey on helping the poor in the slums.
