Events which stretch as far back as the reforms of the Gracchi brothers’ meant that the Rome was facing a Republic that was already deteriorating before Pompey had stepped into power. While Pompey’s quest for power was harmful, many other factors were also baleful to the Republic, and were hence instrumental in its decline. Gnaeus Pompeius’s measures to gain power were harmful because it was primarily a paradox to the principles of being part of a Republic with all its notions of shared and short power. The fundamental reason why there were other reasons for the decline of the system are that the military power was given to him, the already weak Senate, and the fact that Pompey was not the only player in the breakdown of the Republic due to the alliances he had made with Crassus and Caesar.
On a typical school day, you might hear the words "Ugh, I have so much homework" come out of a middle schooler's mouth. In reality, the problem might not be the amount of homework, but the amount of time a student has after school. School administrators need to understand the importance of having a study hall for middle school students. Middle schoolers should be able to have a study hall because it gives them time to get assignments done, understand their homework better, and not have so much on their plate.
79% of American middle school and high school students take part regularly in at least one after-school extracurricular activity. Many students participate in sports that can take up to 4 hours of their time, daily. Homework takes time to do after school and extracurriculars. If a student goes to school at 9:00 and gets out at 4:00, then goes to an after-school activity from 4:00 to 6:00, they will come home and have dinner from about 6:30 to 7:15, which means that they will probably start homework at around 7:30. This means that high school students will be up until about 11:00 finishing their homework, that’s without factoring in how much time the students will waste.
In order to promote participation in weekly homework, it is beneficial to reevaluate the current homework implementation. Transitioning homework into a more project based experience that is a collaborative experience for both student and their families will make homework more enjoyable and motivating. Questions considered will include:
Have you ever had problems with completing homework assignments, having technology for a project, or planning out projects to avoid waiting until the last minute? Homework clubs are an excellent way to solve those problems rapidly. Homework clubs have been created at schools to complete assignments, meet with teachers for extra help, and have less work to do at home. This way, students will not be up late at night doing their homework and be exhausted the next day at school. Homework clubs are a fantastic idea because they give students access to teachers and other resources, provide a set time where students only do work, and decrease the likelihood of procrastination, giving them more free time.
When in the course of life events, their comes a time in a student’s life where he/she can no longer manage all their homework assignments given to them by their teacher. As a student gets older they begin to have a harder time in concentrating in their school needs. This becomes worse if one is involved in any academic or athletic programs after or before school.
Lessons in many classes are rushed and left unfinished due to the tight time restraints placed upon teachers. They are given an inadequate amount of time to teach the excessive amount of material given to them to cover. More often than not
Staying after school is a waste of time because students just sit there and read or do homework. Which is beneficial to the student, but it wastes the faculties time and the students don’t learn much from the experience and could be doing something better with their
The class wide peer-tutoring program helped serve as both a tutor and a person being tutored throughout the process. There were weekly
As part of the module practical teaching programme, I have been helping out in the homework club of an inner city primary school, one hour per week for the past twelve weeks. All in all I think I it was a very interesting experience and very beneficial in terms of my learning as a teacher. I had a number of valuable experiences and below are two of the most important in my opinion.
...supporters say. Homework is also important because there are many types of assignments that cannot be easily completed during the school day, proponents contend. Writing an essay and conducting a science experiment, for example, are both extremely beneficial ways for students to gain a more total understanding of a certain subject, proponents say, but neither assignment is easily completed during classroom hours. Such assignments must be completed at home to be effective, supporters argue. (“Update: Homework”)
Afterschool homework clubs sound like a wonderful idea. The afterschool homework club will benefit any students that are struggling in their academics. The afterschool homework club will also give students a better understanding of the subject. If a student misses school it is difficult for that student catch up on work, but if there school has an afterschool homework club it will be simple for students to catch up on their work. It is almost impossible for teachers to go around their classroom and have one-on-one time with all of their students, but if their school has the afterschool homework club it will make it effortless for the teachers to have one-on-one time with their students.
This includes the creation of extra-curricular activities and groups. These will encourage teachers to build relationships with their students as they will be the primary leaders of the student activities and groups. When teachers focus on the students, many things can become of it. It encourages the students the students to learn and grow beyond the classroom. Afterschool programs enhance the academic lifestyle by providing non-threatening remediation, support and most importantly enrichment (Scott, 2010).
In group work there are many distractions and some students can’t concentrate in those conditions. Most distractions are caused from other students socializing instead of doing their work. No group work means students can focus better, there will be less stress on teachers, and improvement in grades. Working unaccompanied helps students better rivet on the lesson of the day. Students need to learn to be more independent during school and
Those people who slack on homework and do after school activities everyday can also be called procrastinating. But sometimes people do their homework and don’t get to do their after school activities because the homework takes up all their time, but sometimes students can do their activities everyday, but we do have a 5th block where we can do out homework but sometimes people decide not to do it. Those who have time to do their homework in the morning are lucky, but that means those children slack on homework as well. Having to do homework in the morning means people don’t do their homework in the afternoon when they come back from school. I am being a bit repetitive, but procrastinating can cause a lot of problems in life. Those who have a family that are strong in the subjects that they learn can help those who have trouble with their homework. Getting satisfactory grades in school is probably the number one priority in life for those who still take school. Many children should find solutions to get their work done to cause less problems for school. Procrastination has always affected many people’s lives and how they go through
