Adversity Has Changed My Life

“Be slow to fall into friendship, but when thou art in, continue firm and constant.” This is a quote from the renowned philosopher, Socrates. One thing that has remained constant in humanity throughout time is friendship, companionship, or family. This can be found in groups of people, communities, animal-human companionships, and more. It is something that I have struggled with my entire life, but things changed for me this year. Ever since I was in elementary school, I’ve been somewhat of an outcast. I had a group of friends back then, but once we got to middle school we drifted. I’ve had a few close friends since back then, but we have days when we’re closer, and days when we’re further apart. I was the youngest, the tiniest, and I had a couple older students who didn’t like me and made a point for me to know it. I loved doing it, but that made the experience less enjoyable for me. My freshman year I was unable to be a part of The Foreigner. My sophomore year we performed The Addam’s Family Musical. It was my first time playing a larger role. Reanna; I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from her, but she’s brought us together more than I’d anticipated. Caleb; one of the Original Few from elementary as well. He and I have become friends, better friends than I think we ever really were. Good friends. Jacob; another one of the Original Few. His talent is one that no one expected, seeing has he was stage crew two years before he officially stepped on stage. But talent isn’t something he lacks. Olivia; one of our newbies, and one of my friends from swimming. I know she’ll do wonderful things, and she’s one of the most accepting, caring people I’ve ever met. Xavier, I didn’t know very well, but I know he can only get better from here. Lily; one of my closest friends and one of the sweetest
