What is Information Technology?

Information Technology is Information technology also referred as (IT), as defined by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), is "the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware." Information Technology deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect process, transmit, and securely retrieve information. One is communication breakdown. Email and instant messaging is now the common of communication in the workplace. With it people no longer have the face to face interaction with others. Also, because everything is written it tends to cause miscommunication between people and some make take an email as being rude and critical even though it may not intend to be. Stress can be another negative to computers in the workplace. Learning a new computer skill or program can put stress on workers especially older or less educated workers. Health issues can also be another negative with computers in the workplace. Due to constant staring at the computer people developed vision problems and carpal tunnel from consistent typing n the computer. Finally on of the biggest disadvantages some employers see to computer in the workplace is distractions. It is the process of using the Internet to seek out and recruit candidates from all over the world. In 2001 it was estimated that 18 million resumes were posted just on Monster.com, the largest Internet job site. Monster.com had almost 500,000 jobs available. With more than 5,000 job boards where resumes and job opportunities posted. With the internet becoming even more popular now, that number has increased. The Internet has quickly become one of the primary recruitment tools for both internal recruitment and talent acquisition committees and third-party talent search companies. One of the main goals of Internet recruiting is the same as traditional recruiting: to find suitable people to employ. Online recruitment is often an efficient way to find qualified candidates to fill positions in a business. It can be done by posting available positions on different job boards and by reviewing candidate profiles. By doing an online listing for a company, employers are ensuring that the position is seen by a larger variety of candidates than regular newspapers. Today, a lot of companies are now doing online recruitment through their company website.
