Recommended: Choosing a career
Becoming a physician of any sort seems like a ton of hard work and dedication, that’s because it is. Going to school your whole life, struggling to bring money to the table while you’re in school and being in debt even after your graduate and start your career seems like it’s not even worth going through. So why do so many people want to become doctors ? Why don’t they just choose another option for a career choice? You have to love what you do in order to be willing to go through all of the obstacles involved. Confucius once said “choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life.” People with weak stomachs definitely should rethink becoming a physician. In medical school you have to literally dissect a person, as in a human being. It’s not like they run around …show more content…
Working long hours every day can take a toll on you mentally and physically. If you work with other doctors you can get an understand with them and help with hours. I know one doctor who works Monday through Saturday and the other doctor that works with him works the next Monday through Saturday. So each doctor works one week and get the next week off. If that’s not dream hours, I don’t know what is. The money. even though you have, on average close to $200,000 in debt once you start working as a medical doctor, once that debt is gone, your receiving a high salary every year. On average family physician’s make $161,000 a year. It’s a really good amount of cash once you pay off your debt. Family physicians make the leas amount of money than any other physician, but I still wouldn’t pick another job as a physician due to the freedom. Your brand. Having a clinic is like having your own business, you can promote yourself, open more clinics, hire and fire nurses and other forms of help. Opening a business is a fascinating idea, plus you get to do it while doing something your love. You can be a business man/woman while taking patients each
desire, but instead the desire should be to help people be healthy. Although some believe they deserve a big payoff because of the amount of money they put into the becoming a doctor. Goodman believes that is your intentions are only for the money and not the passion of medicine then the medical field should not be for you.
First I would like to state that any career in a medical field takes a lot of dedication and many hours studying and it is not for everyone. I would also like to say once an individual has made a career out of it the job has long hours and can be very stressful, so I suggest readers to not consider a career in medicine unless you are genuinely interested in the work, and are not in it just for the money.
One of the general requirements is good time-management(Vaughn). Then she introduced different examples with this. She schedules her appointments based upon what she needs to be done throughout the day. Depending upon when she wants time with her family, she may choose to do her paperwork in the afternoon between each appointment. This involves the same thing with her appointments. Therefore, if people are not good at time managing, they should not go into physical therapy, which is really time consuming(Vaughn).
A family physician is also known by other titles like: Family Doctor, Doctor and Physician. They diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases and injuries that commonly occur in the general population. They assess and treat a wide range of conditions and typically have a base of regular, long-term patients. On the other hand, a dentist diagnoses and treats problems relating to teeth and tissues in the mouth, along with giving advice and administering care to help prevent future problems.
When we were younger, most of us wanted to be a princess or an astronaut. Now that we’re older, we’re starting to consider more serious options. A sports medicine physician isn’t your run of the mill career choice, but I’m not known for running with the crowd. I am confident, hard working and able to stay calm under pressure. Sports medicine physicians diagnose and treat patients of all ages related to physical health. To become a sports medicine physician, you need many years of post secondary education and they make a relatively good salary. With most careers, there are advantages and disadvantages. There can be travel opportunities and that comes with long work hours and high stress levels.
Many people overlook going into medicine due to the fact of it taking eight years to graduate and to get your doctorate. Although it is still six years to be a physician assistant it puts it in perspective that it is only two extra years past what normal jobs are. Would you go through two more years of school to make 100,000 plus dollars a year? Not saying to go into this profession for the money but it truly makes it more realistic to go into medicine. Also a lot of the time people will become a PA and go practice for a couple years and decide they want to go back for another two years and be a doctor. It’s nice to be able to stop after two years, have a job with good pay, and relax and be able to go back whenever you feel
A doctor work is never done, every doctor at least have a life is in their hands I’m pretty sure every single day and with them having to deal with a lot of important things sometimes I’m pretty sure some have got side tracked but they just wouldn’t let it get the best of them. Doctor’s deal with keeping so many secrets to themselves, because dealing with medical records everything must stay a secret even with the nurses it must be kept a secret whether it’s a family member or even someone they know.
Let’s start with the pros. The pro of being a pediatrician is the bond between you and your patients it’s unbreakable. It’s like you have hundreds of kids roaming around in the world. Another would be a higher beginning salary. Finally job security, because a pediatrician can always go into another medical field, or subspecialty in which they practice in. Now let’s go to the con. The downfall of specializing in pediatrics would be appeasing to the parent’s and avoiding lawsuits or malpractice. That’s added stress, since you know what is right for the patient, but parents feel like they know it all. Sometimes you have to work on weekends and holidays, since accidents and injuries aren’t always expected. Those medical school expenses still follow you might want to start paying it

Approximately 10% of all pediatricians are self employment. There are substantial benefits and drawbacks when deciding whether to join a private practice or a hospital. Working in a hospital gives you other people and doctors to rely or fall back on. You will typically have a wide variety of specialists working around and with you, which would be nice if you are needing to refer a patient to someone. Hospitals give a physician a guaranteed salary, while a private practice offers a salary based on the money left over after receipts have been paid. Hospitals will also generally pay a doctor more if the are upping their patient intake. However, working in a private practice gives a person the opportunity to be more “choosy” with the patients they are willing to care for. Hospital workers have a set guideline of rules that it is very important for them to follow, but working in a private practice gives a person the opportunity to set up their own system of guidelines. Owning a private practice would be nice because you would have more pull over who you work with. You would have the say in who is, and isn’t, hired. This could make for a more relaxed working environment with less tension. Being employed at a hospital means that you aren’t going to have a say in who you are working with. There is a chance that you will work with someone whose personality
What is a pediatrician? Pediatricians are doctors who specialize and focus in caring for babies to young adults (Career Cruising). They deal with childhood diseases and the care of infants with health and sickness (Elberts). The typical upper age limit of patients is from age twelve to age twenty-one (NetMed Pediatrics). They have to treat their patients as if he or she were going to change the world. Pediatricians complete many tasks in a day’s time. They perform physical exams and order tests that will diagnose diseases and injuries that have occurred. They advise surgery and medications and may also help patients through puberty and family problems (Career Cruising). It is their responsibility to make sure the patients are not only healthy, but also safe and happy. Some pediatricians communicate with social workers, family members, and health care workers to understand the entire situation as best as they can (Career Cruising). If the patient seems to have more personal problems, pediatricians have the opportunity to send them to other doctors like a psychiatrist for treatment. Others work as advocates by educating the community about car safety and the benefits from school breakfast (Career Cruising).
The summer after my freshman year in college, I went back to Honduras to volunteer with the children who had leukemia at the National Public Hospital. I have never been as intimidated as my first day, when I followed the attending oncologist, while he was showing me the pediatric unit. He also explained my duties, which were attending and playing with the children. When I was left to start my job, I felt almost as nuisance in the midst of that hectic hospital room. Unsure on how to approach the patients, I looked around and found a tender smiling face. Although I was nervous, the warmth of his expression gave me the confidence to walk towards his bed. After a long and pleasant talk, I learned that Diego was from a remote rural town, and that his father visited him three days a week because he had to work to support his family. Diego suffered from a severe form of leukemia and had been hospitalized for nine months. Due to his poor health, he was unable to walk or even sit up in his bed. Hence, he developed atrophy in his legs causing them to lose strength and mobility. Yet with a huge sparkle in his eyes, Diego shared with me his dreams of becoming a great soccer player. As I turned away to retrieve the board games that he requested, I was moved by his courage to dream despite the hardships he was enduring at such a young age. This encounter was the beginning of an important turning point in my life. What initially began as a job became a real duty for me. I felt compelled and obligated to the children whom I interacted with, gaining satisfaction in doing so. At first, it seemed I was doing them a favor but rather it was the children that made an impact in my life. After I left Diego’s bedside that day, I was heartbroken to see h...
Another good aspect of this job is that they only focus on the health of children, rather than all of the age groups. An adult and a child are so different, they are nearly two different species. If a child is brought to a doctor who specializes in all age groups, the child would not be getting the same kind of attention that he or she would be getting, compared to that from a doctor who specializes only in children. Doctors that specialize in all age groups are used to make quick, rough, and fundamental actions needed for the healing of the patient. One does not simply treat a child the same way an adult would be treated.
