Adult nursing is a vocation and a profession that I am passionate about. My aim is to become a fully qualified adult nurse, building on the foundation of previous training and work experience developed in my current position as a healthcare practitioner at Westminster Home Care. In 2013 I studied the preliminary aspects of health and social care at Level 1. I particularly enjoyed learning how to as promote healthy eating within care work, effective communication with adults and the importance of balancing the needs of patients. My studies motivated me to seek volunteer opportunities which gave me a realistic expectation of what adult nursing entails. I am a confident, caring and responsible individual with a demonstrable interest in nursing which I believe is a worthwhile and satisfying career that suits me. I am a committed student with excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and an ability to build a rapport with others. From perception and drawing from individual learning I trust the qualities and skills required from a nurse include the innate desire to help and care for people. I have learnt that excellent communication skills are important coupled with the ability to work autonomously but also as part of a team. I want to be an adult nurse because I find my current job very rewarding and satisfying but I believe I have more to give and I am capable of making that transition from my current role as a care practitioner into a qualified adult nurse.
