A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Hero’s come in all shapes and sizes and are categorized in so many different ways. Many people today consider heroes to be brave and courageous. Adam Brown is the main hero in this story, but if it was not for his wife, family, and friends he would not have been the hero that he was today.
One of the first heroes in this story was Adam’s parents, Larry and Janice Brown. Adam’s life was extremely rocky, but that never changed the amount of love that Larry and Janice had for their son. He met a girl named Cindy and she was the reason that he began to do drugs. It all started when Cindy Gravis said “you wanna get high?” (Blehm 43). Adam devoted a lot of his time to Cindy. He spent a lot of time with her and her friends. Later on Larry and Janice found out what was happening and decided that they needed to get this taken care of. A lot of times they did not even know where Adam was. Finally, they had Adam arrested. Larry said, “I’ve done the hardest thing in my life today. I’ve had my son arrested.” (Blehm 66) This definitely hurt them so much, but they knew that it was for his own good. Adam Brown had to live with “that vision-of his mother sobbing into his father's chest.” as he sat in his jail cell. (Blehm 5) Larry and Janice began going to church and praying for their son. They changed their whole life around, which ultimately changed Adam’s life as well. Them going to church became one of the greatest things they did for Adam. Their actions showed how much they cared for him. This is one of the greatest things they could have done. They brought Adam back from all of his hard times, and after getting arrested he knew he didn’t want to do that again. Janice and Larry were real …show more content…

Blehm states, “While Adam accepted that the bad choices he’d made-quitting football in college, the drugs, the crimes-had led him to where he was now, he still regretted them. That regret strengthened his resolve this time to push through until he could push no further.”Adam's whole story shows us that no matter what troubles and hard times one goes through they can always be brought back up. Adam was a good man, he was selfless, and “he never thought of himself as a hero.” (Blehm 309) This was something that really stuck out and showed his heroic side. Usually a real hero does not want the credit. They do not even realize that they are actually a hero. Anyone who goes through what those people do and still protect everyone in the world would be a classified as a real
