Being the lack of career development programmes the main reason for employees to leave the company more in detail issues were identified:
Both former and contemporary engineers agreed that PEL has incorporated significant skills in them and have equipped them with real life experiences, and has added value to their skill inventory. As a result of this they enjoyed working for PEL but the problem was primarily with pay structure of PEL in comparison to foreign companies and especially Gulf based companies such as Al Otaiba and Al-Futtaim. These companies offer significantly higher pay scales and also provided a window of opportunity to these engineers to explore themselves in more developed economies. In addition to this these companies also provided more growth opportunities since these companies had several divisions other than electronics and hence a huge growth potential for the employees. On top of this, these companies are Gulf based and Gulf has its own charm, which pulls engineers from third world countries like Pakistan. It’s not just the companies polices and compensation plan that makes these engineers leave but the deteriorating law and order situation of the company also adds to the problem of high attrition rate at
Organizational structure can be defined as the “formal arrangement of jobs within an organization” (Robbins & Coulter, 2009, p. 185). Having a defined and unified structure helps employees work more efficiently. Jacques Kemp, former CEO of ING Insurance Asia/Pacific, realized this need early on in his role. The company had been performing well and recently acquired another insurance company to become “one of the largest life insurance companies in Asia-Pacific” (Schotter, 2006, p. 4). However, Kemp’s proactive personality led him to seek out ways to achieve more efficient coordination between the regional office and business units (Robbins & Coulter, 2009). Kemp noticed that “most business unit managers did not even know the current corporate standards” and he began searching for a way to manage the managers (Schotter, 2006, p. 5). ING Insurance Asia/Pacific’s organizational structure was mechanistic and fairly well structured, but for a company that had recently been involved in a major acquisition and was divided across 12 geographically dispersed markets there was a great need to tweak this structure to unify the company (Schotter, 2006). If I had been in Kemp’s position as CEO, I would have made modifications to the organizational chain of command, formalized business processes, and used technology to stimulate collaboration amongst the region to help this company overcome organizational design challenges.

It all means a wish to quit and move on to something better and many employees are there right now. I am currently employed at a very popular hospital and I am currently seeing job dissatisfaction first hand. In the department that I work at many employees are showing their true views on how they are unsatisfied with the job. Many people feel that the job is becoming very stressful with the demands from upper management. Many employees are working long hours and are not receiving any recognition for it. In the past few months I have seen many employees quit and move on to other positions. Many of the ones remaining are not even putting 100 percent into their work because they feel like they should not if they will not be recognized for
In management, effective leadership involves the daily responsibilities of monitoring employee productivity, dealing with customers and handling the technical aspects of business. Being a manager can be fun, rewarding and socially interesting. A good manager is positive and provides support and motivation for employees. However, one of the responsibilities of a manager, along with hiring, is firing. It is commonly accepted that “employment termination is usually excruciating for everyone involved” (Zins). However, by using a structured method this process can go smoothly and with as little stress as possible.
