The Microsoft Corporation is one of the most well-known leaders of the personal computer software systems in the United States. However, Microsoft was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul G. Allen, two childhood friends with dreams to succeed and become entrepreneurs. Nonetheless, not only does the company develops software, but they also sell electronic games as well. Not to mention that the Microsoft Software Corporation is rated among the top ten companies with the best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reputation in the United States. Microsoft have citizenships leads throughout the United States working daily with a vast amount of stakeholders on issues concerning the local communities in the area they serve ( Smith, 2012). However, other great ethical performances of the Microsoft Company is their involvement with governments, nonprofits groups, investors, and a number of organizations to include the Clinton Global Initiative, the World Economic Forum, CSR Europe, and the Boston College for Corporate Citizenship (Smith, 2012). Also, in October of 2012, the Microsoft Company celebrated their thirtieth Employee Giving Campaign announcing a tremendous achievement of one billion dollars in their employee contributions (Smith, 2012). Inclusive of Microsoft Company’s match to over thirty-one thousand nonprofit groups throughout the world since 1983. Employees of Microsoft have volunteered their time to over two million hours to various causes they care a great deal for since the company started the volunteer match program in 2005 (Smith, 2012). The corporation feels as though CSR has a direct and positive impact on the people in the communities and even in our backyards, and around the world. However, the company believes that the communities in turn and their continuing engagement with Microsoft services contributes the to the company’s business achievements and profits. Further, the communities are amongst the most important stakeholder groups in the Microsoft’s corporate responsibility strategy throughout the country.
