Academic integrity is closely related to professionalism, in other words, an individual’s professionalism is dependent on their academic integrity. According to Tipton (2014), professionalism is the mastery of a body of knowledge, high levels of autonomy, code of behavior and social contract to do good for the individual and society. The term professional not only apply on people who are working, it also can be apply on student. A student can also act professional in school by uphold the value of integrity. Academic integrity is the moral code of academia and it involves using generating and communicating information in an ethical, honest and responsible manner. It is important to up bring the value of honesty when we deal with our assessment and exams. According to academic integrity of Monash University, cheating during the exams or assessment is strictly prohibited and this will lead us to face serious consequences. To avoid cheating, we are not encouraged to save their document to a shared network drive that is accessible by others and also not sharing document onto social media. Plagiarism can occur in many ways such as remix, CTRL-C, Hybrid and so on. All these occurs when we take/copy other people’s idea without citing it because we just want to complete their assessment that have been assigned. This shows that we do not completely understand that particular topic. In this case, we has to something with their time management. Over the last decade, many medical cases, such as the Bristol and Shipman Inquiry, demonstrates failure of doctors to act in competence and performance in order to achieve the best outcome for patients. Although these cases principally concern the medical profession they have resulted in the mobilization of many healthcare professional regulatory bodies in the United Kingdom in order to review the principles behind competence and fit to practice. This necessity for evidence and re-examination of good practice of healthcare providers resulted in the release of White Paper ‘Trust, Assurance and Safety-The Regulation of Health Professionals in the 21st Century (Schafheutle et al, 2010). This paper concerns health professionals, including pharmacist, and aims to establish a system of regulations that will ensure the capability of pharmacist to act in best concern of the patient and guarantee their capability to do so. The white paper outlines the need for pharmacists to meet and maintain their standards in order to remain registered. This essay concerns itself with the idea of revalidation of professional pharmacists and their qualifications and how largely this idea is informed by ethical considerations.
Plagiarism is a severe problem because it has since become an epidemic and is being practiced at an alarmingly increasing rate. It has become widely accepted among students at many colleges and universities across the United States. It has gotten to the point that many students don’t even consider it cheating. This fact alone makes it even more serious and harder to control. It is now common practice to obtain someone else’s writing and turn it in as an original work. It is not difficult to purchase a pre-written paper or hire another individual to write a paper. Students are willing to pay whatever the cost so that they don’t have to do the work themselves. In fact, paper-selling services such as this have become quite a lucrative business. With the age of technology quickly advancing it has become all the more easily to plagiarize.

Academic integrity holds a great deal of weight. This includes honesty in the work produced, as well as being able to accomplish the work. Responsibility in addition plays important factor into integrity. I see responsibility as owning up to what has to be done and getting done. If I have an assignment due, I need to have that obligation completed by the set due date. Trust also helps with this. As a freshman, I have to trust that my professors will give the right amount of time to do assignments, and in return I must do the work I’m capable of.
In conclusion, the issue of academic integrity does not only affect an individual, but also an institution. Therefore, it is the duty of students and schools to ensure that ethical principles are upheld all the time. Cheating on academic work is a serious issue that most students admit to doing at some point in their academic career. Elite students are surprisingly the culprits of cheating, but hide it well. (Romm, para 5) Cheating is such a large issue that “70% of students from a sample of 1,800 from nine campuses said they had cheated at least once during their college careers.” (Schneider, para 9) Students cheat on academic work because of different, ongoing pressures in their lives. Understanding the student’s motives and pressures are essential to preventing cheating from occurring in the future. Students cheat for different reasons specific to them regarding their priorities, pressures and because of how easy it has become. Even though eliminating cheating will not happen, there are actions that educational professionals can and should take to prevent most of it from happening so often. Academic integrity is essential to being successful in an individual’s academic career. When a person does not complete their own work, they are doing nothing but taking away from their own academic experience. When teachers assign assignments, they are meant to help the student learn in a hands-on way; instead of just learning from a lecture. If a student doesn’t take this opportunity to practice and perfect the material, they are only taking away from themselves in the long run, since they won’t be learning the material adequately. We might want to first follow that question with another question. What is cheating and why do so many people do it? Most people would agree that cheating is deceitful and one who obtains answers by cheating is not practicing good integrity. “ACADEMIC DISHONESTY, with Internet plagiarism as one of the most common forms, is a concern on college and university campuses more than ever before. A review of the literature validates these concerns. According to a 2003 nationwide research study of 23 public and private colleges and universities, conducted by Donald L. McCabe, Internet plagiarism is on the rise. Thirty-eight percent of the undergraduate students surveyed indicated that they had engaged in Internet plagiarism (as cited in Rimer, 2003); one study states that nearly 49% of students in undergraduate marketing classes admitted cheating in 1988 compared to 100% of the students in an undergraduate management class in 2008 (Brown, Weible, & Olmosk, 2010).
