In this era of age, education is the master key to unlock numerous doors life. A value in good education is important for each and every one of us in order to have a better and successful life in the future. But what exactly is academic excellence about? Is it about how high how you score on an exam? Is it measured by the number of academia plaques or medals you’ve obtained throughout the years? It is much more than that. It is the maximum development of one’s intellectual capabilities, and the skills in service that one can contribute to humanity. Academic excellence is more or so about holding yourself to a higher standard, and using those skills to make a productive contribution to society.
Academic excellence first obviously begins with

When faced with troubling times, the easiest thing to do is to give up. But the easiest thing to do is not always the best thing to do. If you think about it, what do you gain when you give up? You don’t. Instead you lose everything that you potentially worked hard for. My grandma used to always tell me that no matter how bad you think you have it, there is someone who always has it harder than you. Even if you think you have done all you can, you’re wrong. Everyone has a dream, goal, and motivation. It all just depends on how far you are willing to go to get what you want. Academic success comes from being persistent and relentless. Nobody ever said college was going to be a cakewalk. No one ever mentioned that Florida State University was just handing out degrees. You earn your degree through hard work. There is going to be many instances where you will have to stay up all night in order to pass that math final, there’s going to be even more times where you will literally just stare at your textbook waiting for information to all of a sudden make sense. But that answer will never come, if you close that book and give …show more content…
The sky is the limit and your options are endless, so why not reach for the stars? You having nothing to lose and whole lot to gain. Just eliminate excuses from your mentality and you will find yourself on a finer track to success. If no one else believes in you, you must believe in yourself and never give up. At times life will get rough but keep in mind things can be a lot tougher. Better yet keep in mind that someone out there has a tougher than you. Be persistent and relentless with whatever goal you set in mind. If it was easy, everyone would do it. If you apply all of these tactics you are one step closer to being a strong man that we all aspire to be. Men get the job done, men don’t live by excuses, men don’t give up, men are relentless. Push yourself to be that man that you know you are capable of
The strength to persevere and keep going are traits that are something everyone should learn to have. No matter what you are going through if you have that mentality or mind state I feel like you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. Mattie had her mind set on avenging her fathers death and wanted to do it at any cost and she wouldn’t stop until she’s had her justice. That was her motivation, maybe something can motivate you to keep persevering through the many obstacles in your life.
There are few decisions in life that will affect you as profoundly as the decision to seek higher education. The degree you earn is both a ticket to personal and professional fulfillment and a badge representing hard work and dedication. The world is built by people who have trusted to their own unshaken will in hope and in despair. Those are the heroes, the idealists who amidst the gulf of solitude more isolating than that, which surrounds a dying man, could think great about their future. Their lives foment many spirited acolytes for whom destiny is no matter, a chance, but a matter of choice and it is nothing to be waited for, but a thing to be achieved. I wish to place as one among them.
The National Honor Society is a very prestigious organization that I would love to be a part of. It was an honor to be nominated as a candidate. I am currently a sophomore in high school, and I have always wanted to be a member of the National Honor Society. As I look back over the years and think of the times I have attended the ceremonies and saw all the awards the members received, I recall saying to myself “That’s going to be me one day.”. I asked my teachers about all the requirements that had to be met to be a National Honor Society member and I made it my main goal to meet each and every one.
The purpose of Afraji Gill’s piece is to clear up the misconceptions of what society perceives success to be. Afraji Gill himself who achieved high grades throughout his high school education felt that his educators’ and societies’ definition of success was wrong. To Afraji Gill success was not high grades, receiving awards or scholarships and being on the honour roll. To him success was defined as how well you grasped the learning material and knew how to put it to use. That a grade on a piece of paper should not define your intelligence and your success. For there are people in the world who receive outstanding grades because they happened to memorize the materials for their test, but as soon as the test is over they have not properly grasped the material and knowledge covered, to put into practical use. I think that Afraji Gill’s article’s purpose is to make people aware that you should not base a person’s success on their grades but on rather how well they know the material, and that failure should not be looked upon as being unsuccessful, but instead should be acknowledged as a stepping stone in becoming
Throughout the years, I hardly believed in my capabilities in school and in achieving my ambitions. You see I am not one of those cool kids who blatantly don’t want to do anything, in fact, I was worse. When opportunities decides to knock on my doorstep, I simply decline hoping that luck doesn’t go my way. It is because I was afraid to change my status which I was already comfortable with my life. Now that I am more educated I’m seeing a different point of view, a different view of living, which is achieving great things in life and surpassing anything that may come my way. In my path towards a higher education I have passed obstacles such as injury, problems with self-esteem, and transportation.
As someone who has always admired the prestige and character of the National Honor Society, I am honored to have received a nomination. I view the National Honor Society as a very noble organization comprised of hard working, intelligent people committed to giving back to the communities that have helped them realize and reach their potential. I believe that both the program and I would benefit by the contribution of my skills, values, and leadership.
I am qualified to be accepted into the National Honor Society based on scholarship. Scholarship is defined as academic study or achievement; learning at a high level. I have maintained at least a 96 unweighted overall average throughout my years in Trinity as well as in middle school. I have tried to take rigorous courses as well as many to help me get into a better school for my major in science. I take Honors courses along with an AP course and manage to be consistent in my school work while having practice for sports after school every day and twice a week for outside of school sports. I have been nominated for the Science Honor Society for excelling in my Biology, Chemistry, and Physics classes. I have been on Principal’s List Freshman year when I was ranked 30 in the class and Sophomore year when I ranked 20 in the class, so I believe my continued growth as the curriculum gets harder qualifies me for the National Honor Society under scholarship.
Don’t ever give up when things get hard. Quitting something is easy. That’s why most people give up when they are so close to success. Most people want to do the minimal and put in the least amount of effort for the maximum results. Well, if you’re doing that what are you running away from? Are you running away from success because you’re scared? Or will people judge you? Hard work and dedication will teach you not to give up. Suck it up and put in the work. If you’re not feeling motivated this guide will help to stay on task: How to Get Motivated and Not Feel
Successful is a simple word, however, the meaning of this word changes quite often. Each person has a different definition of success and that definition can change depending on the situation. Bob Dylan once wrote, “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.” This a very broad definition of success and should not be used. The definition of success should be “the pursued goals have been adequately accomplished.”
Academic success is becoming increasingly important in today’s society because most occupations now require a degree of some kind before a job applicant will even be considered. For that reason, academic performance has a considerable impact on a student’s life and whether or not he or she is able to accomplish future career goals. There are many factors that can influence academic performance of a college student, including student personality traits and life circumstances. Life circumstances are sometimes out of a student’s control, but if a student was able to recognize a quality of his or her personality that was inhibiting academic performance, then he or she could possibly make an effort to
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
Academic excellence is thought to be a very high-prioritized achievement in today’s society, and in order to reach many goals of success knowledge is the key. Although knowledge is very helpful, without grit you will never achieve great things.
Academic study is necessary to help an individual to adjust themselves to the society .It combines certain values in individuals which could serve them in life, in events that goes beyond institutional boundaries. For example, a person who has received formal education will be able to distinguish between what is right for them and what is not. Others, they learn only through their own experience. It provides an academic body of values which can be used to carry out practical work. It is used to encourage stability in individuals. While in grade school, I had many dreams of what my intended profession was going to be. Examples of a few include; meteorologist, storm chaser, respiratory therapist, fashion designer, and dental hygienist. While I had many great influential people in my life time, I was greatly influenced while I was in high school by my family and consumer science teacher Mrs. Pompy Womplebottom. While I was never a student who made the highest of grades, I was a student who was willing to learn and accept the things that I could not change. After graduation from high school I knew which college I was go...
I had allowed my very own insecurities and the words of someone else to keep me from fulfilling my dreams and from experiencing the possibilities that were ahead of me. I had shut down all of my plans without even giving them a shot! Soon after making this realization, I decided to recommit myself. I asked myself, “What’s the worst thing that can happen?” I definitely did not have the money or the grades at the time, but I refused to give up on myself. If things didn’t turn out how I wanted them to, at least, I could say that I never gave up on myself. I began to work on myself academically, spiritually and emotionally. First, after asking my school guidance counselor for assistance, I started taking online courses and spending all of my weekends studying and catching up on my school work, which had a great impact on my grades and GPA. Then, I began to faithfully attend my local church, where I made wonderful friends who got me out of my shell of insecurities. I also met church leaders who pushed me to be the best that I could be, not just for myself, but for God as well. Now, this definitely did not happen overnight, I spent a whole year fighting my way out of the dark miserable hole I was in, but with dedication, persistence, and God’s strength, I was able to persevere through it
University education trains students in academic subjects. But non-academic fields can lead us to success as well. There are countless entrepreneurs, actors/actresses, political leaders, authors, directors, critics, designers, and more who prove that success does not merely depend on having complete education. These non-academic fields require people’s enthusiasm, but not academic knowledge. For example, Abraham Lincoln completed only one year of formal education, yet became a world famous lawyer and the U.S. President. These examples shows tertiary education may not be a necessary factor for success. On the other hand, it is generally believed that university education is necessary for successful life. Education is the key to success because it opens doors for people of all backgrounds, and it expands the human mind with knowledge. Roland (1997) claim that the vast amount of knowledge gained through education prepares individuals to solve problems, teach others, function at a higher level and implement transformational ideas. The 21st century is ever changing, new inventions are coming up non-stop and without proper education, it’s
