Subject: Request for Appeal of Dismissal and reinstatement
To Whom it may concern,
I was very disappointed to receive the notification of my academic dismissal from the graduate program at Webster University. I am writing this letter to appeal my academic dismissal in hopes that you will reconsider this decision and allow me to be reinstated in the graduate program next term/semester.
I do admit that I had an extremely difficult time with my classes during the summer term of 2017. I know I should have recognized my struggles sooner and reached out for help from peers, faculty members and my academic advisor, but unfortunately, I did not, and by not doing

I had heard from several students of how demanding and writing intensive the Research and Ethics class was and my peers advised me that if I could take that class by itself, to do so. Personally, I know that writing has always been a struggle for me and it has never been an area where I excelled with ease. Although being aware in my lack of writing abilities, it has never stopped me from succeeding in past academic endeavors. My confidence in this class was strong at the beginning of the semester; I have passed my other classes, so I know I have the work ethic and abilities of a graduate level student. I expected constructive criticism knowing that this was going to be a difficult class for me, but to hear that my work was less than satisfactory and not the work of the graduate level hit me harder than past academic writing experiences. Discouraged at first I didn’t let it stop me from trying my best the second time around, but again I received the same feedback stating that my work was less than satisfactory. My self-esteem snowballed into a less and less confident graduate student, doubting my abilities. I was very discouraged time after time, and I let the workload pile up to where I couldn't catch myself up. I know that I should have used the resources available to me to help me succeed in the class. I also should have communicated my struggles with my professors or even withdrew from
My name is Kaha Salad and I am appealing my Satisfactory Academic Progress suspension. Autumn semester of 2013 was a difficult time for me, I was going through many different changes in my life and I just didn’t know how to adapt. I experienced a personal event in the summer of 2013 that made my life change forever. My Grandmother Khadija died, she was the light of my family’s lives. My mother was immensely affected by her death, she went into a state of depression and she then stopped working. I took it upon myself to help out my grieving mother and get a job to help pay with the bills that was piling up. I began working
I am writing this appeal letter, because I have received a letter saying that I am eligible to attend the University of Wisconsin La Crosse anymore due to my academic standing. I wish, and hope that you may reconsider. I have been attending this college for two years now, hoping to go on my third. And I would love to say that I enjoy this community very much and that I wish to stay. I wish to grow better as a student and as a member of the college community. Here in this college I am currently a leader of InterVarsity, a Christian organization on campus, and have been active in HOPE, a Hmong organization on campus. Although I have been active within the college community and have been success at it, I have failed towards being a student.
My transition to college was successful, but it was nonetheless one of the most stressful times in my life. Unlike many of my peers at Saint Louis University, my rural high school experience did not truly prepare me for the academic rigors of college. Despite extensive preparation, I performed rather poorly on the first round of exams. While I didn’t fail any particular exam, my performance was seriously lacking. I knew that getting C’s on exams would not serve me well in the pursuit of my dream of becoming a physician. I remember feeling, for the first time in my life, that I was unintelligent and incompetent. I was also heavily fatigued from the excessive hours of studying, which I felt were necessary to reconcile the problem. I managed to
Although I started off strong determined to finish my assignments and in hopes of obtaining superb grades, my determination grew weak I when I was nearly or halfway done. I would just slack off until the assignment was nearly due, then I would rush to finish it. On the second essay that I was assigned, I started off strong, but halfway through I just didn’t give it my all. I did so because I believed that I would pass even if I didn’t try my hardest. My lack of motivation, as well as many other reasons, caused me to fail that essay. My determination helped me to achieve much in this class, but because I didn’t have enough of it I got lazy and it held me back from my full
To be completely honest, this year has been nothing short of a disaster. Partially due to this class, which it is my fault for taking the class in the first place when I was obviously not qualified to take an AP Literature class. It started out fun, but became more and more stressful as the year went on. My mental capacity has reached its limit, and my physical health isn 't in the best condition either due to the late nights I have spent on homework. However, despite it all, I have learned a great deal from this class. Not only from the curriculum, but I have also learned some of my own limitations and realized some faults that I need to mend. This class tested my patience and my temper, which I had only discovered
Dear Office of Student Financial Assistance: I am appealing my financial aid suspension because of me not maintain Satisfactory Academics this past semester. Although there is no reason to ever fail a class or put yourself in a situation were it can jeopardize your GPA, I was not concidering the choices academically I made for myself. As a transfer student, coming to Hampton was a huge change for me. Coming from community college and living at home with my parents but now being away from home and having to do things on my own was a huge shock to me and I couldn’t focus. Along with the environment change, getting my study habits in order was more of a challenge and I didn’t schedule myself for my demanding workload that was given to me.
A friend of mine recently got fired from work, when I asked the reason for which he got fired; he explains that his car let him down as it broke down on him on the way to work. In his dismissal letter the human resource manager explains that he has been showing up for work late on several occasions and that on three different occasions, he never showed up for work at all. He was called in by the manager and signed three written warnings, yet he still claims that it’s the cars’ fault for him getting fired. This is not much of a conflict but as I network engineer, car issues should not be his problems because he makes enough money and get a car allowance as part of his pay package.
I am Joselynn Brown. I just completed the first semester of my third year at WSU Tri-Cities. I am ashamed to say that, for the first time in my life, I failed at school. I have not always been a straight A student, in fact, I have only gotten a 4.0 once in my life. However, failing has never been acceptable to me. So what happened this semester? I failed not only one, but two classes. Now, I am left fighting for my spot in a school that I got automatically accepted to for having good grades. Thus, it is time to dig deep and explain just what went wrong.
My ACT score wasn’t even high enough to take this class but I still decided it would be in my best interest to take the class and expand my knowledge. With English being one of my worst subjects, I knew that taking it would challenge me to work harder than I ever have before. I knew if I didn’t make things harder on myself I wouldn’t go anywhere in
At first, failure was none of my business: I did not really care how high or low my grades were. But when I suddenly experienced what failure was like, I did not like it one bit. In fact, a fear started to grow within me. It was like a hideous, chupacabra-like alien had landed on my territory and I felt I had to do everything to get rid of it. I studied mathematics very hard: harder than I ever had before. I studied how to divide 9 by 3 and 8 by 4, even if I so despised numbers to my very core. I did not like them because they made things abstract to me. Things which I knew became unknown w...
In the beginning of the semester, I turned in this paper titled “The Ability to Let Go”. This was a paper about my history as a writer and re-reading it today I would say that the execution of the paper is good, but not great, and I misspelled many words to the point where some of the sentences do not even make sense. I titled it “The Ability to Let Go” because I talked about how I never wrote papers or enjoyed turning them in due to the fact that I was most likely going to get a big fat “F”. Taking this course not only helped me see that I am a pretty decent writer, but it also has helped me get through my past and essentially letting go of the past.
what and what not to do again. By disappointing, I mean getting poor grades, not caring
On 05/17/2017, I received a letter stating that I was suspended from the University of Houston (UH) as a result of my unsatisfactory academic performances over the last couple of semesters. I take complete responsibility for my academic inadequacies and I’m fully aware of the university’s policies regarding academic dismissals. I am writing this statement to prove my readiness to return for the spring 2018 semester. During my time away from UH, I had to leave the U.S because my suspension voided my student visa.
They had not given me the chance to work on more challenging tasks or take the time to think of any tasks I could do with my current skills. They also did not give me any training so that I could perform work that would be instrumental to the overall project. All of these reasons combined made the outcome of my effort feel obsolete and not important in the bigger picture. In terms of self-efficacy, I knew I had the skillset required for the tasks I was assigned, but, that is only due to the fact that the tasks themselves were very simple and in no ways challenging. The lack of difficulty during my work term caused me to lose motivation and it felt as though the outcomes would not be satisfying.
This past semester has been the hardest semester so far. I had so much to on my plate. I had internship 16 hours a week, work 22 hours a week, I was taking 4 courses (a total of 15 credits), and I also have my 2 year old son. I got very little sleep, I gain 10 pound, and I was in physical pain almost every day. I am physically, mentally, and emotionally drained. This semester was difficult for me I think I was just doing too much that it overwhelmed me. Even though it was so difficult for me I’m glad I got through it. The things that I learned and did was worth
