“In the USA, where nearly half of pregnancies are unintended and four in ten of these are terminated by abortion, there are over 3,000 abortions per day (Finer).” Twenty-two percent of all pregnancies in the USA (excluding miscarriages) end in abortion (Jones).” Imagine being a mother of a one-year old-child and you are pregnant again. You go to a gynaecologist for help as you don't want children so close together in age. The physician then asks you what you want him to do, and you tell him that you want to end your pregnancy. He then tells you he has a better solution for your problem and it's less dangerous for your body. You then think the doctor is going to accept your request, but he continues and says that in order for you not to have …show more content…
According to the Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004, which was enacted “to protect unborn children from assault and murder," it states that under federal law, anybody intentionally killing or attempting to kill an unborn child should "be punished... for intentionally killing or attempting to kill a human being. The act also states that an unborn child is a "member of the species homo sapiens." If this is true, shouldn't abortion be considered punishable also? It would be illogical if it were not. If you take at look at it from a different perspective, a woman aborting a child is allowing a doctor to end a life which is considered an intentional killing of a child, and that should fall under this law. Also the unborn are under the category of homo sapiens, which is the human species, so that means it's a killing of a human. To consider abortion not murder is outrageous because according to the law, it is illegal and people are literally getting away with murder of unborn children. If people cared about the law then maybe this could be a thing of the …show more content…
According to a study done by the University of California, “women who were turned away from abortion clinics (because they had passed the gestational limit imposed by the clinic) were three times more likely to be below the poverty level two years later than women who were able to obtain abortions. 76% of the "turnaways" ended up on unemployment benefits, compared with 44% of the women who had abortions. The same study found that women unable to obtain abortions were more likely to stay in a relationship with an abusive partner than women who had an abortion, and were more than twice as likely to become victims of domestic violence (Newitz).” Based on this evidence, if the option to terminate a pregnancy is taken away from women, then they would have to take care of the child which would result in a lot of them losing their jobs, their source of income. Other women who are desperate would in some cases even enter abusive relationships just so they have some money to be able to support themselves and the child, which is really hard if you look at it from a perspective of a single mother. This ban would also lead to an increase in poverty level and the government would have to pay all these women. Furthermore, taking this right away from women would be a bad decision because it is the woman's body
Banning abortion would hurt the most vulnerable in our society.
Abortion, which is defined as a deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, is one of the most controversial issues in society. Many people believe that abortion is unethical and morally wrong, while others believe that it is a woman’s right to decide what to do with her body. According to www.census.gov, “the number of abortions performed annually in the U.S. has leveled off at 1.2 million a year” (1). This statistic supports how many women are choosing abortion. Although abortion is legal in the United States, many people continue to voice their opinions on how it is a human rights violation and should be illegal everywhere.
Late-term abortion is a very controversial method to abort the baby after the twentieth week of gestation. There are many different grotesque procedures to perform it. These kinds of abortions are contradicted by many religions and morals of people. Late-term abortions almost devastate some mothers because they have spent so much time being pregnant and making an emotional connection with the baby. Some believe this to be murder and inhumane. Late-term abortion should be made illegal because it is morally wrong on many different standards of the American society.
Providing safe and legit abortions when made legal saves the lives of many women. People also have to consider the fact that poor women would basically be stuck and forced to have a child although she can barely provide for herself. While wealthy women could travel to anywhere that abortion is legal, poor women would be left in the dark and have to struggle on their own. In addition, an unborn fetuses’ life should not have more value than the woman herself. Governments should consider the rights, circumstances, and hardships that a woman has to go through during pregnancy and afterwards trying to raise a child. Abortion should stay legal in California and should be everywhere else as it is a woman’s constitutional right to decide what she wants to do with her body and whether she can handle providing for another life at the time other than her own; the government should not force a woman to have a child, that is not her required
Abortion not only ends the life of the child before it has a chance but has health-related issues such as sterility and premature births. Life begins at the moment of conception, and an innocent life shouldn’t be ended due to parent’s lack of financial stability. This problem can be fixed by outlawing abortion. Abortion by definition is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus. Abortion ends life, and causes many health related issues for the mother.
The words of an unborn baby are ones that almost no one ever thinks of, or hears. One of this country's most controversial topics is abortion. However, if one sees the constitutional infringement to women by the restriction of abortion; the torment to the unwanted child; and the anguish society has to sustain, then this topic would not be so debatable. Too many people do not see the effect that abortions cause. It is a very dangerous offence that affects the mother, father, the community, and most importantly, the fetus, and that is why abortion should be illegal in Canada. First, abortion is against God’s law in many Holy books such as the Bible and the Quran. Secondly, abortion does not only affect the individual, but the community as a whole, and the rights of those people are infringed on. However, abortion does nothing in the cases of rape, or women’s rights, which is the constant argument people in favour of abortion argue. And lastly, abortion should be seen for what it is, murder.
The baby in the womb can feel pain around 16 weeks into the pregnancy. To begin, a woman can “ have a surgical abortion...up to 22 weeks” (...). By this time the baby can already feel pain, and has a heartbeat at 5 weeks, the baby is a human once the egg connects to the sperm. The baby is not just a simple organism anymore, the baby has a heartbeat and is practicing breathing. Abortion is the same as murder, just because the child can stop it or have anything to say about it doesn 't change what it is. Just because the baby cannot live on it’s own does not mean the baby is not living. The baby may not be able to function on its own, but it is already developing. For instance, at three months the baby’s “unique fingerprints are now in place” (...). The baby is developing bone structure and even fingerprints. The baby is quickly developing a self identity, the baby is a growing human being just like us. There are other options for the mother if she cannot take care of the child. For instance, in the united states alone “Infertility affects approximately 6.7 million women in the United States” (...). If every baby that was aborted was given up for adoption instead, a woman could have a child to care for and love unconditionally. This way the baby at least gets a chance to live its life rather than having it taken so early. It is illegal
“We are allowed to take life under the prescribed requirements of law such as self-defense, war, execution, etc. Each of these areas deals with Law. Self defense is justified because an antagonist is breaking the law (burglary, robbery, assault, etc.,), and we can use force to protect ourselves and our property… However, the baby in the womb has done no wrong, yet it is executed.” Everyone in America has the right to protect themselves and have freedom. What about the babies still in the wombs who can not voice their opinions and have no say about what is going to happen to them? Who is going to protect them? Their lives are taken away and they can’t do anything about it. They can’t defend themselves the same way we can. The law states that it is okay to take lives as self-defense mechanism. As a fetus you are perfect, innocent, and have not done any harm. Yet they can not defend themselves and they haven’t done anything to hurt anyone. Someone needs to help fight against
Abortion is a termination, not a murder. It is a matter of opinion or religious belief when human life really begins. Therefore, the idea of personhood at conception is considered to be only an opinion or belief as well (abortionProCon.org). For instance, most Christian religions believe human life begins at conception while Hindus and some members of Judaism believe the opposite. Each religion has its own separate beliefs and opinions, but none prove a true fact of when human life actually begins. Since the fetus is not scientifically proven to be a person at conception, it is not enshrined with laws (abortionProCon.org). This means the fetus does not have the rights that the average human being, such as the mother who carries it, does. For example, one can take a woman to court with an argument full of facts and details, but you cannot do this with the fetus that lies within the woman’s womb. The woman has rights to protect and the fetus does not. With this said, terminating the pregnancy does not murder the fetus, because it does not have the human rights of a living being (Luhrman). It just eliminates an unwanted embryo whose rights lies with the mother.
What I've just discussed with my mom, and seen in the recent debate is what makes me want to get away from my family. Yes, I know I can't get away from politics, or any of that stuff. However, my main focus is on what my mom and I discussed and what I saw in the recent debate. Now, please don't get upset if my facts may be wrong, because people make mistakes. You can calmly and respectfully correct me on them, instead of being rude about it. Now, here is what I have to say.
In my argumentative coursework I am arguing that abortion is wrong and not to be mistaken with 'Abortion should be made illegal.' I will explain later why I have made this statement. Abortion is the termination of an unborn child in its mother's womb for up to twenty four weeks of the pregnancy or in special circumstances e.g. Disability diagnosis a termination right up until the mother goes in to labour. I think the above definition is an easier and less harsh way of saying that abortion is the murdering of a human being. There are several reasons why abortion is legal and several reasons why it shouldn?t be.
A mother kills her unborn child because it is unwanted, but she's not charged for murder. Is it right? There is about 46 million abortions per year worldwide, and approximately 115,000 per day, but why? Is it because rape or incest, health problems with either the mother or the child, or just because the baby's unwanted or inconvenient at the time? (The Alan Guttmacher Institute.) Abortion should be banned because too many babies are being killed from abortion, if you don't want a child you could always put it up for adoption, and most mothers don't understand the consequences that occur from abortion.
Through every choice in life, there is a decision that must follow. Abortion is a woman’s individual choice; therefore, must be a legal part in todays society. Individual rights have an outstanding role in the controversial topic, on whether abortion should become legal in the United States . The individual rights for abortion show rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. As well, women should be able to have the choice to choose to have an abortion for several important reasons. The right to make these decisions should lie in the hands of the “mother” to make decisions concerning their own to make decisions concerning their own bodies. In addition, women should be given the choice to have an abortion if they are too young and unable to take care their child financially or emotionally. Additionally, the right to have an abortion is if the pregnancy negatively affects the woman's or the baby's health. Without abortions as a choice for the “mother” to resort to while she is going through hardship on deciding whether to keep the baby or not, the endless possibilities could negatively influence the mother to put her and the baby in a dangerous positions.
Abortion has been accepted by the United States of America ever since the monumental Roe vs. Wade case in the early 1970’s, but is still a very controversial issue. Many people are for and against abortions. Some people say that the child inside its mother’s womb deserves the opportunity to live, while others believe that a mother has the right to choose whether or not her fetus can live or die. Other advocates for abortion claim that abortion helps keep the threat of overpopulation down. They also say that in many extreme cases, it is in the best interest of the mother and the child that the fetus be aborted. Abortion helps keep the crime rate low, so it should remain legal, they also say.
If killing unborn babies are allowed, why murdering a person is illegal? There is no right to everyone in the world to even think of murdering innocent babies. Some people say Fetus is not a child? That’s wrong. Fetus is proven to be a human life. Just because they can not ...
