Lauren got pregnant when she was in senior year with her boyfriend of two years. All her friends told her the preeminent option was abortion so she could carry on with her life and get a fresh start. She had no idea what she was gonna do. She had stringent parents who would not be thrilled about her recent choices. Lauren finally decided to keep the baby and let the baby live the life she created. Her and her boyfriend stayed together for twenty two years after that and they had two more beautiful children they could not be prouder of. The baby she decided to keep is now in the military and protects this country everyday. If it was not for Lauren keeping the child this country would not have that one military soldier fighting for what we want. …show more content…
To begin, many women who become pregnant by rape have an abortion, “29 percent had an abortion” (.......). These women were not ready to commit to a lifelong commitment of having children. Abortion is a quick way to forget about the situation and never have to face it again in the future. Many women who become pregnant through rape are not financially or emotionally stable to care for a child. For instance, women make a decision of abortion “that they cannot raise a child at the moment” (.......). Women who simply don’t have the time or money to raise a child often spares the child’s life so they can continue their life without the unwanted struggle of a child. Women who are raped and become pregnant did not get the freedom of choice, so they feel entitled of the choice to have the baby or …show more content…
The baby in the womb can feel pain around 16 weeks into the pregnancy. To begin, a woman can “ have a surgical abortion...up to 22 weeks” (...). By this time the baby can already feel pain, and has a heartbeat at 5 weeks, the baby is a human once the egg connects to the sperm. The baby is not just a simple organism anymore, the baby has a heartbeat and is practicing breathing. Abortion is the same as murder, just because the child can stop it or have anything to say about it doesn 't change what it is. Just because the baby cannot live on it’s own does not mean the baby is not living. The baby may not be able to function on its own, but it is already developing. For instance, at three months the baby’s “unique fingerprints are now in place” (...). The baby is developing bone structure and even fingerprints. The baby is quickly developing a self identity, the baby is a growing human being just like us. There are other options for the mother if she cannot take care of the child. For instance, in the united states alone “Infertility affects approximately 6.7 million women in the United States” (...). If every baby that was aborted was given up for adoption instead, a woman could have a child to care for and love unconditionally. This way the baby at least gets a chance to live its life rather than having it taken so early. It is illegal
How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live and have a future? You wouldn't have the opportunity to crawl, take your first step, have your first kiss, or experience those butterflies in your stomach at the sight of first love. Millions of special moments, a life, shredded to pieces. This is essentially what abortion does. Abortion is not the answer in the case of an unplanned pregnancy and needs to be stopped! First of all, abortion is a type of unnecessary murder that occurs in inhumane ways and cannot be tolerated. Moreover, there are alternatives to abortion and many families who are looking to adopt. Lastly, the side effects of abortion can cause life threatening health risks to the mother. Excuses will always be made, but the bottom line is that abortion is not acceptable and should be stopped.
6). Even at such a young age the “fetus” has already developed a brain and spinal cord. Most abortions take place right after this time. Just imagine what would be formed on the body of the “fetus” next. “Pro-life Laws Improve Women’s Health … A study published in the British Medical Journal shows that Mexican states with “less permissive” abortion laws experienced lower maternal mortality rates from abortion complications. A Stanford University study shows lower rates of abortion complications for American states with those same types of laws.” (Lindor par.12). Abortion causes a health risk in women afterwards. Not being able to have kids after the procedure is done is one of them. Also, reports have been showed that some women regret their decision after they abort the “fetus.” Everyone is entitled to their opinion as we see with the pro-lifers. “We’re already aware of the racism and discrimination inherent in the institution: blacks and children with disabilities are aborted disproportionately more. More recently, we’ve been made aware of the trafficking of body parts.” (Lindor par. 20). That type of news is sad and quite scary for the most part. Even though, respectively, disabled children do cost more time, energy, money, and patience. It’s still quite unnecessary to abort them just because they
It takes away the chance for a fetus to develop into a person and experience the important values in life and experience the love, faith, and support from their loved ones and the world. Who knows when a woman who did not undergo an abortion that a baby can bring a lot of happiness and change their life in a positive way. Killing a fetus is like killing an adult human which is not the right thing to do because it has the same moral status. The fetus is a person because it is alive and conscious in the woman’s womb and will soon develop into a person who will have all the characteristics of personhood. Death is the ends of one’s
Of the millions of pregnancies that happen every year, almost half of those pregnancies are aborted. What some people do not know is that abortion is murder; the life of an innocent, unborn baby is being ended because the mother does not want that child. Many people say that the baby is unaware of what is going and they do not feel anything; when really, a baby can feel pain just days after conception. A baby is a baby; it still has arms, legs, and a functioning brain just like the rest of us do. So why are these babies getting murdered? Life begins immediately after conception; Abortion is wrong because it is murder, a “quick getaway” and it is a cheaper way for irresponsible women to not have to take care of someone. There are other options that do not involve murder.
Pro-life believers do not support the idea of an abortion, but what after being raped? The decision on whether to keep the baby after such a horrific matter varies women around us. While some women believe it is best to keep the baby, supporting the idea that the baby is part of them, others do not want to be constantly reminded of the rape with a baby that can possibly have the exact image as their rapist. According to Muhammad ibn Adam al-Kawthar, “… it would be immensely difficult for a woman to be comfortable with a child born out of such a traumatic experience” (51). Not a single person should be forced to have a baby they did not decide to have. The individual did not choose to be raped. Some pro-life supporters may suggest adoption, but what if it wasn’t that easy? A pro-life defender does not take in consideration the age of the victim. When thinking about a victim of rape, the first idea that comes to each of our minds is a young woman in high school or out of school, b...
How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live, or not being able to have a say in whether or not you want to have a life? As a small innocent baby, in the mother’s womb, you have no choice. Thousands of babies have their life and future demolished due to abortion. Generally, abortion is such a sensitive topic, most people try not to think or even speak about it. However, abortion has been a common practice around the world at every point of history, and every society regardless of its legality. Even today, abortion is a huge controversial issue concerning woman and whether or not it should be legal. Many feel that aborting an unwanted child or more so killing an unwanted child is unlawful. Controversially, others believe a mother should have the choice to “protect” her body.
Abortion has been a controversial topic in the U.S ever since it became legal in 1973 after the Roe v. Wade case. Abortion is defined as the, “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” Pro-life supporters believe that abortion is unethical and argue that it is the mother’s responsibility to own up to her actions. They also argue that there is always the option of adoption, and that abortion could be very dangerous. I am pro-life and believe that the government doesn’t have the right to decide what a woman can or can’t do with her body.
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of a fetus or embryo from the uterus before viability (dictionary.com). Those who disagree with abortion think that this is not right, mid evil and a form of murder. All of those thoughts are correct; abortion is the act of removing a fetus from the protection of the mother’s uterus. However, is it not the duty of the mother to protect her unborn child? In this day in age, we are still allowing this barbaric method of ending a pregnancy to happen despite the many alternatives. If an unexpected pregnancy should occur, abortion should not the only option. There are many reasons why abortion should not be illegal in all parts of the world, and people need to know the options available. Adoption is certainly a strong option in a world wanting for children. Abortion is not a method of birth control and people need to be educated on pregnancy prevention and take on some responsibilities.
Some mothers who have aborted, feel depressed, regret, and it will often haunt them lifelong. Although an abortion is a procedure done hundreds of times a day, it is still very dangerous for the mother. The reasoning behind abortion being legal, is because people have argued and they believe that a fetus is not considered to be its own person. A fetus is a breathing, living, seeing, hearing person as early as the age of 14 weeks. An unborn baby’s heart starts beating at 20 days, and the brain starts to give off brainwaves at just 40 days. Abortions are allowed up to 28 weeks after conception. Every single day, more than 3,000 american babies are killed by abortion. The number of american babies killed by an abortion each year is nearly equal to the number of U.S military deaths that have occurred in all of the wars that the United States has ever been in, combined. 86% of all abortions are done for the sake of convenience. Since the legalization of abortion in 1973, over 56 million unborn children have been killed , thats more than the entire populatiion of spain. That's 155 babies per hour, about 1 every 24 seconds. These numbers are only going to grow, if we do not do anything about it. Abortion is murder, that we are allowing, just to help the mother get out of having the child. These poor little souls cant do anything about it. Their lives are taken from them every single day. We need to
To be raped is to be sexually assaulted forcefully and unwillingly. According to the Uniform Crime reports, of all serious offenses, rape is probably “the most under reported crime.” Victims of rape are not only violated physically, they are violated mentally as well. It is a very traumatic experience that woman have to deal with for the remainder of their life. They usually incur symptoms of post-traumatic stress syndrome, stress disorders, fear, constant memories of the attack, a loss of confidence, and shame. (Mary E. Williams) These effects alter the victim’s life severely and can interfere with their day to day life and relationships. Being raped is a horrific crime that no woman should ever have to endure. In many cases victims of rape may become impregnated by the perpetrator leaving the victim to another form of violation. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, at least 9,100 abortions each year are attributed to pregnancies that occur because of forced sexual intercourse. (Irin Carmon)
Having children is one of the most amazing things in the world but some children are created with the wrong idea behind them. RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network) reports that there is “on the average of 237,868 people, ages 12 or older that have become victims of rape and sexual assault yearly.” Some of these rape and sexual assault crimes result in women becoming pregnant with a baby that they had not planned on. Women who become pregnant due to rape and sexual assault are usually very eager to get rid of their baby due to the fact that their child would possibly be a reminder of a part in their life that they would not like to recall.
The first cry, the first touch, seeing it’s little fingers reach out and hold on to a mother’s hand; this baby will become the person who cured cancer. But wait. It never even had a chance to breathe. Mothers say that they were not ready to bring a beautiful life into the world but the baby never had a say in the mother’s decision to takes it life. Abortion affects not only the baby, but the mom, the father, and everyone that knows about the wonderful miracle of life. Abortion, though legal in the United States, should be made illegal because it is morally wrong and murder.
An estimated “32,101 pregnancies result from rape each year” (National Center for Biotechnology Information). So just because females have a choice sometimes it isn’t right to take a life but circumstances change as time changes. In the article ‘Rape-related Pregnancy: Estimates and Descriptive Characteristics from a National Sample of Women’ it is said “among 34 cases rape-related pregnancies the majority occurred among adolescents and resulted from assault by a known, often related perpetrator”. So abortion caused by rape should be an exception if abortion should be restricted. For a lot of women getting abortions they are taking a huge risk because as you are getting that abortion you are damaging the inside of your body.
An adoption isn’t the solution to abortion. Many abortions are conducted to prevent the fetus from living a problematic life due to abnormalities or defects. There are plenty of people with children that aren’t ready for parenthood and never will be, why bring a baby into a unstable environment if it’s not wanted? Many oversee abortion as morally wrong, but what is morally
Abortion is a very controversial topic and has been many people's go to when they decide to make the lousy decision of unprotected sex but in other cases, sex might’ve been forced upon them, but a minuscule amount of abortions are due to rape. According to Fox News “About 59 percent of all abortions in the U.S, the report found, were performed on women in their 20s.”, to start this just shows how the younger generation is definitely getting the message or just straight up don’t care. I sure hope this isn’t the case because them not caring is going to lead to lots legal hassles and could cost you anywhere from $300 up to around $800 and maybe even more. The laws on abortion in the United States vary depending on the state but it is legal in
