There are over 2 million people that fly domestically per day. This sort of statistic would not exist had it not been for the inventors of the ancient world that paved the way. Abbas Ibn Firnas is one of the great ancient inventors of the Islamic world. Firnas was born was born in Izn-Rand Onda, Al-Andalus (today's Spain). He was an inventor, physician, chemist, engineer, Andalusian musician, and Arabic-language poet. Without his flying machine and his first attempt at human flight, air travel might not be what it is today. Firnas’s first human attempt at flight is the most significant change in the Islamic world because it inspired future generations to perfect his designs, there is enormous necessity for human flight today, it has opened …show more content…
Human flight has facilitated this more radically than any other form of transportation. Human flight is the quickest way to get around the world, which has exponentially increased the rate of globalization. The spread of traded good around the world has become a modern day convenience. It is possible to buy fruit from land on the other side of the world- fruits that don’t naturally grow here. It is amazing what human flight has done for the spread of ideas and goods. Finally, Firnas’s attempts at human flight has also opened the doors to the future. Scientists are now thinking and developing new ways of travel. We can think toward the future and can imagine that flight might be the new form of daily travel. As drones are starting to deliver packages, we might see more and more personal flight machines to beat the traffic. Had it not been for Firnas’s attempts at human flight, we need wouldn’t be where we are today regarding human flight. We need to remember to consider how his work has affected our world: the necessity of human flight on a daily basis is now a commodity we share; his work opened the door for the most expansive globalization in history; and he has allowed today’s designers and scientists to move onto the future of flying and the next technology. Human flight might be the new mode of transportation for the common person. Firnas is to thank for his great achievement and
Lindbergh’s passion for mechanics didn’t come as a surprise to many. As a young boy, Charles seemed to be very interested in the family’s motorized vehicles, such as the Saxon Six automobile and Excelsior motorbike. But after starting college in the fall of 1920 as a mechanical engineer, his love for aviation started to bloom. Deciding that the field of aviation was more exciting, he dropped out within 2 years. He then decided to take lessons at the Nebraska Aircraft Corporation’s flying school and was up in the air for the first time on April 9, 1922 when he was in a two seat biplane as a passenger. But his solo flight would not be until May 1923 at the Souther Field in Americus, Georgia, an old flight training field where Lindbergh came to buy a World War I Curtiss JN-4 “Jenny” biplane. It only took half an hour to practice with another pilot at the field to decide that Lindbergh was ready to fly the plane himself. After a week of practicing, Lindbergh took off on his biplane on his first solo cross country flight and few weeks after that, achieving his first nighttime flight near Arkansas, both marking huge milestones for the young pilot.
Feng Ru-- “The Father of Aviation”-- is a crucial inspiration for going after his dreams. As a Chinese immigrant in the USA, people don’t seem to like him and prevent him to invent airplanes, for fear China would attack the US.

Wilbur Wright once said, “The desire to fly is an idea handed down to us by our ancestors who... looked enviously on the birds soaring freely through space... on the infinite highway of the air.” He changed American culture forever when he made the first flight alongside his brother Orville. This invention would have an even greater impact on our culture than cars. Although cars are used every day in America, planes have had the largest impact on American culture. Without planes, our lives would be drastically different, but not in a good way. Airplanes had a major impact on military, commerce, and travel.
Wouldn’t it be amazing to travel anywhere you wanted to go in the world without a plane to take you there? Well, we’ve all wanted the ability to fly at least once in our lifetime. We would have the luxury to travel anywhere we wanted and we wouldn’t have to worry about the constant struggle to find enough money just to get to the destination. We would learn more about the world by seeing things through a new perspective if we could fly ourselves to it in the blink of an eye. Judith Oritz Cofer as the author shows us this ability through the characters in the short story, “Volar”.
The Wright brothers Orville and Wilbur are considered to be the fathers of modern flight. They were not the first to build and fly experimental aircraft, but they were the first who invented controls that made flight controllable. Before they revolutionized flight, many other methods had been attempted such as people jumping off buildings or other high locations with make shift wings attached to their arms, or machines that bounced up and down with something akin to an umbrella on top of them. None of these experiments were very successful though some did manage to glide very short distances.

Feng Ru was the first one to bring aviation to his homeland of China. He faced many challenges but overcame them. A few of the challenges that Feng Ru faced was he did not have much space in his workshop, he also crashed significant his planes, and the anti-Chinese settlement was on the way. Did you know what his last words were? ‘Your faith in the progress of your cause is by no means to be affected by my death.’”, said Ru. Even though, he faced many challenges He was the first one to bring aviation to his homeland.

What would the world be like without flight? Today we take aircraft for granted but for centuries man could only dream of flight. It was not until the late nineteenth century that human flight started to become a reality. During this time people started to see flight as a possibility, and enthusiastic inventors began working on and experimenting with many different types of flying machines. Although there were many determined people trying to develop an airplane, the Wrights were the first because of their good methods of testing, and their focus on understanding and developing lift and control.
Flight is one of the most important achievements of mankind. We owe this achievement to the invention of the airfoil and understanding the physics that allow it to lift enormous weights into the sky.
The pilots enjoyed breaking several world records and seeing beautiful sights from around the world, but they would never travel the world by plane again because of the severe hardships they endured caused by the different climates. The author’s purpose for writing this book was to inform people about the first flight around the world and to describe how they felt during the flight.
Flight, despite only having four main principles, proves to be a large undertaking. And where nature has succeeded very well man has failed to master completely. These animals, through many years of evolution, show how flight is supposed to work, with minimal energy required. Mankind could learn much from what mother nature has given evolution.
The history of flying dates back as early as the fifteenth century. A Renaissance man named Leonardo da Vinci introduced a flying machine known as the ornithopter. Da Vinci proposed the idea of a machine that had bird like flying capabilities. Today no ornithopters exist due to the restrictions of humans, and that the ornithopters just aren’t practical. During the eighteenth century a philosopher named Sir George Cayley had practical ideas of modern aircraft. Cayley never really designed any workable aircraft, but had many incredible ideas such as lift, thrust, and rigid wings to provide for lift. In the late nineteenth century the progress of aircraft picks up. Several designers such as Henson and Langley, both paved the way for the early 1900’s aircraft design. Two of the most important people in history of flight were the Wright Brothers. The Wright Brothers were given the nickname the “fathers of the heavier than air flying machine” for their numerous flights at their estate in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Orville and Wilbur Wright created a motor-powered biplane in which they established incredible feats of the time. The Wright Brothers perfected their design of the heavier than air flying ma...
The seminar on aviation held in India in 1987 highlighted the important role of aviation in national and international life. On that occasion, Professor R.P. Anandsaid :"It is impossible to imagine life today without these fast and safe airplanes criss-crossing all states irrespective of their claims of sovereignty. In spite of all their divisions, the world has been united as never before.
