AT&T’s roots stretches all the way back to 1875, when Alexander Graham Bell created the first telephone. The main reason AT&T was created was to exploit the creation of the telephone. AT&T became a parent company to the Bell system, which was a phone company monopoly. They created a long distance telephone network that went from New York to Chicago and then on to San Francisco. Then in 1984 AT&T split into eight different phone companies. They built out to Denver in 1899 and then they hit a rough patch, the signal wasn’t too strong. Luckily, AT&T created the first practical electrical amplifier in 1913. And this made transcontinental communication possible. Bell’s patent expired in 1894 and only Bell telephone could only legally operate in the U.S. The number of telephones grew as phone wires spread across the nation, there where about 3,317,000 phones. The only downside to this early story is that, only phones with the same phone company could contact each other, this was being fixed in 1913. In 1925 there was a new president, Walter Gifford, he sold International Western Electrical Company to the ITT for 33 million to make AT&T universal. In January 1, 1984 was changed and revitalized, it no longer was the bell system. It had a new global icon, as you see today. IN 1984 AT&T carried around 37.5 million calls a day. CEO, Robert Allen, announced that on Septemb...

The Riverbend Telephone Company is experiencing growth and had previously tried outsourcing some of its installation work to handle the overflow above its capacity. This was unsatisfactory, and so to accommodate the new customers, RTC needs to obtain a new maintenance truck and crew. It is considering whether leasing or buying the new truck necessary to their operations is the preferable method of investment.
The telecommunications industry is of vital importance to the development of the information-based economy. AT&T need to supply access to cost efficient, timely and innovative telecommunications services.
Family life is the core element that defines the population of a country. It gives Identity to a group people by the way they carry out their day to day operations and the customs and ideals that are unique to that group of people. Family life can be difficult to define as it comprises so many elements; such as housing, education, gender roles, family size, health, education, and religion. These are all critical inputs that ultimately determine the situation in a family and how that group of people goes about their lives.
The definition of poverty is that the household income is inadequate as judged by a particular standard. To gain a better understanding though we first have to consider what a family consists of. Is it just the blood-related family such as parents and children or do we count elder family members as well? How about roommates or foster children that live in the same household? Income also has to be defined as to what counts as household income. Is it just the earnings of a job or do we count in monetary gifts from employers and the government? Does bartering items or services in return for food or money can also be considered as income? These are all questions we have to define. The US government came up with two definitions as to how who is seen as poor and impoverished. The first term used is called “relative poverty.” The government says that after the family size is adjusted, the lowest one-third, one-fourth or one-fifth are the poor. The market basket is the second concept used in measuring poverty. Molly Olshansky came up with the idea by calculating the cost of a minimum nutritional diet with the household size. She concluded that one-third should be spent on food, and the other two-thirds should ...

Family life has changed greatly since the 1950’s. In those years, every aspect of a family was based upon certain roles performed by the spouses. Today, wives no longer solely cook for the family or take care of the children and husbands are no longer the singular providers for the family. The change in roles creates more confusion, which then increases the levels of necessary involvement and attempts for successful family functioning. Family provides people with important relationships in their life. These relationships assist family members in learning how to relate to others and grow through the ability to communicate. Family relationships are not easy to uphold, therefore family members need to put effort into their relationships in order to advance family functionality. Group work, similar to a family, is a difficult collaboration that requires equal and valuable contribution from every member. The relations between family members determine the family’s overall success. Throughout the different types of family relationships, including marital, parent-child, and sibling, the parents prove to be an essential aide in the development of the relationships. Each type of relationship helps to better other relationships throughout the family. Learning to create and sustain one type of relationship helps to create and sustain other types of familial relationships. Family relationships require the parents to enhance the amount of cohesion, flexibility, and communication across each relationship to ensure family functionality.
