For clarity, PM2.5 are air pollutant particles that when measured can signify how dangerous the level of pollution is to the average person. By analyzing the graph, it can be seen that the lowest range of AQI values is from 0 to 50, which signify that the air in an area has little to no air pollutants and poses no significant risk to health. Conversely, the highest range of AQI values 301-500, which signify that the air in an area has a large amount of air pollutant and poses a serious health risk. Additionally, a value of 500 or greater is “Beyond Index”. In layman’s terms, any value above this 500-value threshold would be off the charts and even greater than values already shown to signify the presence of a dangerous amount of air pollutants.
The MACI consists of a 160-item inventory, provided in the English and Spanish language, with a combination of the 27 subscales. The intention of the inventory is to provide counselors and other healthcare or school professional with information to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning for personality disorders in adolescent (Millon & Davis, 1993). The inventory consists of true or false questions; given that this inventory is shorter compared to other personality assessment, it only takes about 20-30 minutes to complete. Millon’s MACI inventory provides convenient and cost-effective methods for scoring the inventory, which include Q-global web-based scoring, Q-Local software-based scoring, and mail-in scoring. Since the MACI is tailored toward adolescents ranging in ages from 13-19, participants must have a minimum of a sixth grade reading level in order to
The Teacher Intern Assessment Instrument, TIAI, is used by my university supervisor, Dr. Sheila Hendry, to critique my performance as a teacher intern. This instrument allows me to see how well or bad I performed as a teacher intern during my first experience at Sumrall High School. The TIAI was out of a maximum of seventy-two points, and I only earned fifty-eight of those points. There were sections of the assessment instrument were I exceeded expectations and sections were I only met the expectations. There was no section were I did not meet the expectations or performed unacceptably. The TIAI is divided into five different domains. The five domains are: planning and preparation, assessment, instruction, learning environment, and professional
I will be using two assessment tools when conducting the final evaluation assignment, the SETT and the WATI. Before making any AT decisions it’s important that the IEP team collect initial data using a systematic and multidimensional approach (Marino, 2006).
The data set used for this assignment was the grades.sav data file. The variables used were gender, GPA, total, and final. GPA and final were used in the histogram scales, along with skewness, kurtosis values, and scatter plot. This assignment included a sample size of (N) 105.
Air quality control regions (AQCR) were designated by the federal government to implement air quality standards in regions based on urban-industrial concentrations, jurisdictional boundaries, among other factors. (Reed, 1986) The AQCR deems to be classified as attainment and nonattainment area according to the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), which set the pollution level of the six common air pollutants. An AQCR may have attainment for one pollutant and have nonattainment for another. (Fact Sheet: The Clean Air Act: Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) and New Source Review
There are many different factors that make up the motivation of the colonization of British North America in the Seventeenth century. Throughout the documents, there are a few words that come to mind time and time again when thinking about the English and French. Some of these words are greedy, adventurous, and religious. The English and French have many differences in the way they wanted their societies to be, and how they controlled the societies.
An assessment that I always use is Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ). Each child receives this assessment. Working in the W. Children’s Learning and Development Center for the past thirteen years allowed me to use them numerous times and have a complete understanding of each child’s developmental based on the information provided when the assessment is resumed. Starting working there with the three years old for two years, I remember vaguely when we applied the Ages & Stages to them. I am not aware of the questions being asked for that age group anymore. Working for the infants and toddlers for eleven years now, allow me to be knowledgeable about where is supposed to be. I usually use the questionnaire when they are 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14
The children and adults with existing medical conditions are susceptible to the adverse health effects after being exposed to high concentration of PM10 (Malborough District Council, n.d.). Besides that, there are also other researchers suggested that susceptible persons who experienced chronic lung disease, asthma or influenza are definitely sensitive to the effects of PM10 (US EPA, 2012).However, According to California Environmental Protection Agency, PM10 can reduce the body’s ability to fight infection besides of increase the severity of asthma attacks, cause bronchitis and other lung
...per cubic meter of air, they found. While people who smoke may also live in more polluted areas, the large group of the studies showed that even so, pollution can raise even a non-smoker’s risk of cancer.
There is considerable literature indicating a link between particulate matter and cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, especially in elderly individuals (Koken, et al, 2003). Particulate matter defined as any particle that measures less than or equal to ten micrometers (< 10µm PM10) or two point five micrometers(< 2.5µm PM2.5) that form from solid particles and liquid droplets. Most particulate matter forms due to vehicle admissions, industrials processes or wood burnings. Additionally, it has also been suggested that ultra fine particulate matter measuring less than or equal to 2.5 µm is considered more harmful to health than are larger particles in aerodynamic diameter because PM2.5 can penetrate deeper into the lung than PM10 (Park, et al, 2010).
Quantitative Research Article Critique This paper is an academic critique of an article written by Lautrette, et al. (2007) titled: “A Communication Strategy and Brochure for Relatives of Patients Dying in the ICU” and accurately reflected the content of the article and the research study itself. The abstract explains the article in more detail, while remaining concise.
Land development causes danger to the environment by polluting the air and disrupting geological and animal status. Air pollution is a big problem with urban life. Large cities have the characteristic of having polluted skies. The Environmental Protection Agency passed an act, through legislation, called the Clean Air Act. The CAA set standards for all cities (Environmental Politics and Policies, 195). Some of these cities that do not meet such standards include Los Angels, New York, Chicago, Milwaukee, Baltimore, and Houston. These limits are called National Ambient Air Quality Standards (189). The NAAQS sets a limit on the amount of Carbon Dioxide, Hydrocarbons, Air born Particulates, nitrogenoxides, lead, and sulfur oxides, and Ozone in the cities air. Such standards apply for 7 (192). The definition for Ozone: A strong oxidizing agent with disinfecting properties similar to chlorine; also used in odor control and sludge processing (Environmental Engineering, 219). Ozone is present in the high atmosphere, but at lower levels can be one of the most harmful gases on Earth (Our Poison...
According to the website, I have an IQ of 113. I feel as though a site like www.iqtest.com could produce a “g” score because they make you pay too see an analysis of your results, which indicates to me that they put some effort into producing fairly accurate scores. General intelligence, also known as “g”, describes an individual’s specific mental ability, which is measured by tasks on an IQ test (Myers p. 405). The site breaks down your overall IQ results into different categories of intelligence and gives you an IQ score for how well you tested in a given area. For example, there is a category for “spatial intelligence” which is ones ability to predict what actions will happen based on varied conditions (Website). By looking at the broken down results you can compare areas you have strengths in, versus the areas you might struggle in. This is in accordance to what Charles Sherman found when he discovered that people who score high in one area tend to score high in similar categories (Myers p. 405). For a person to see what their “g” score would be they would simply have to look at which category they scored highest in and from that they would see in which area they have the highest intelligence in.
Many cities are currently affected by air pollution and Hong Kong is one example. Hong Kong’s air pollution level often exceeds the recommended air pollution level put out by the World Health Organization, and Hong Kong’s pollution index was at “very high” meaning that it exceeded 101, for 34% of the time (Hunt, 2011). Another example, when Hong Kong excee...
The quantitative research article that I chose to review was a study completed by Dougherty and Thompson (2009), found in Research in Nursing & Health. Very few researchers have focused their study on the impact of cardiac arrest and ICD implantation on a patient’s intimate partner. What little is known about caregiving responsibilities and caregiver burden after a cardiac illness or event has previously been focused on the spousal experiences following an acute myocardial infarction or coronary artery bypass graft surgery (Dougherty & Thompson, 2009). The researchers in this article chose to study the physical and mental health effects of the intimate partners of persons after sudden cardiac arrest and receipt of an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). Intimate partners were defined as being the spouse, lover, or significant other living in the same household as the patient during the study enrollment. Complete data collection was obtained from 100 intimate partners that participated in the study. Subjects were recruited from 10 Pacific Northwest hospitals after patient’s received an ICD after cardiac arrest. Data were collected by the researchers between 1999 and 2002.
