The video clip, “ A Tribe Called Red” Ft Black Bear, consists of indigenous culture and electronic music as background music. In this video, we can see the life of indigenous people and feel the conflict between the traditional culture and the modern society. The video shows the conventional dancing and unique costume from indigenous people, meanwhile, it shows they are also finding their own way to fit in with the new world; some of them love street culture, some of them love boxing, and some of them love nature, they can make friends by those things and gain respect from others. However, their ancestor’s spirit is still flowing in their blood; they have the responsibility to inherit their culture. The first thing that impress me is the fusion music, because the music is quite special and the beat of it is really strong. How can those people blend the element of First Nation Music with electronic music? What makes them to do this? In my point of view, electronic music and traditional music are two extremes of music, so it is hard to find some common places in these two kind of musics, however, they combined these musics perfectly. As we all know, white people were trying hard to assimilate the native people by publishing rules and establishing residential schools during the late 19th century. Although the rules and those schools are not exist any more, the native people are still receiving social assimilation unconsciously; their culture may be disappeared one day in future. Nevertheless, if native people do not get anything change, they might hard to survival in the new society, for example, they have to learn English to obtain a job which will make them forget their mother tongue
