We all are under the wrong impression that doctors are expertise in their domains and have good knowledge of all their solutions. Today, the rat race is so fast and furious that everyone just wants good amount of salary, name and fame but neglect and do not pay any heed to good health. Technology is far ahead and medical science is today doing miracles. But it can't possibly commit to memory all the knowledge they need for every situation, and they probably don't have it all at their fingertips. Even if we have access to the massive amounts of data we still need expert teams to predict analysis in various domains. But this kind of in-depth research and statistical analysis is beyond the scope of a human. It is the reason everyone is moving towards predictive analytics. Predictive analytics (PA) uses manipulations to search through huge amounts of information, and analyse it to predict outcomes for users. It can include data from past results as well as latest advancements. Not only can it help with predictions, but it can also reveal surprising associations in data that our human brains would never suspect. In medicine, predictions can range from responses to medications to hospital readmission …show more content…
Ruijuan Hu [2] states the details of the idea on two-step frequent data items using Apriori algorithms and Association Rules. This mentions a new improvised method called Improved Apriori Algorithm to eliminate cons of Apriori algorithm. Gitanjali J, et.al.[3] proposed study of huge datasets from various angles and obtaining gist of useful information. The data mining methods are very helpful in making medicinal decisions in curing diseases. Krishnaiah et.al. [4] aims to evaluate data mining techniques in clinical and health care applications to develop precise decisions and also provides a detailed discussion of medical data mining techniques can improve various angles of clinical predictions. Dan A. Simovici [5] proposed that association rules represent knowledge in data sets as results and are directly related to calculation of frequent item sets. Mohammed Abdul Khaleel [6] states data mining as a concept that studies large amount of data and extracts patterns that can be converted to useful
Since the beginning of the 19th century, America has had to deal with the on going
In Jonathan Swift’s satire, “A Modest Proposal”, Swift writes about the starving people of Ireland in the early 1700’s. He makes a wild and absurd proposal to help remedy the problems of overpopulation and poverty. Swift wants to make a political statement by using the “children” as satire to grasp the attention of the audience - the English people, the Irish politicians and the rich – and make them aware of the political, moral, and social problems. In “A Modest Proposal”, Swift’s arguments are presented effectively by using pathos (emotional appeal), ethos (ethics and values), and logos (logic reasoning and facts).
Computers have totally proliferated the world of medicine. They are used to monitor vital signs, to operate artificial hearts and to compile and store medical histories. Though not directly related to our well being, the last use is of utmost importance. Today, the use of medical databases and computer...
For example, in Ms. News’s interview with Chief Information Officer at Lawrence Memorial Hospital (LMH), he affirms that CPOE is a great tool to reduce clinical errors, save cost, improve patient quality. However, the biggest barrier for LMH is getting physicians to buy-in. Most physicians are not practicing evidence based medicine. Instead, physicians workflow derives from concepts and principles taught in traditional medical schools. A patient needs a prescription, so naturally, a medical practitioner would write out a prescription. However, this could be a significant risk for both the doctor and the patient. The physician in times past took several hours filtering through reports to stay abreast the last approved drugs (DRG) and deleted DRGs, their actions, and adverse reactions. Obviously sifting through lofty reports is not the most efficient, information may not update or simply may be overlooked.
In the article “The Modest Proposal” the credible author known as, Johnathan Swift informs us readers on the starving families in Ireland. Swift’s total purpose of the article is to educate the article readers on how these families struggle for survival from the problem of starvation. Swift adopts an emotional and relatable feeling in his readers. Swift further conveys his explanation later on in the article.
People have been trying to come up with solutions to threatening epidemics from many years. There was a famine in Ireland that killed many people. The poor people of Ireland could not support their families, which made them go to extreme measures. In order to survive, women and children were forced to beg for food to prevent them from starving to death. Jonathan Swift proposes a solution to this epidemic in A Modest Proposal. Swift states that the poor Irish should sell their children as if they were cattle, or better yet, eat the children themselves. Swift uses a mocking tone in order to effectively convey that he does not actually support cannibalism, but rather uses it as metaphor to describe the harsh times of Ireland.
In the essay, A Modest Proposal, the speaker is Jonathan Swift. Swift is most known for his satirist writing style which is also evident in his novel called Gulliver's Travels. Swift was an intelligent Oxford graduate student who published his famous piece, A Modest Proposal, in 1729. In this piece he addresses the issue of poverty in Ireland by proposing a humorous solution. The purpose of his text is to shock his audience by his over the top solution to end poverty. Swift adopts a persuasive tone in his proposal to convey his readers that his solution would be beneficial.
I am thankful to ACRL's Recruitment & Nominations committee and honored and humbled to stand for election with Lauren Pressley as a candidate for ACRL vice-president/president-elect. ACRL has been my professional home since my initial years as an academic librarian. The landscape of higher education and academic libraries continues to ever evolve as much as technology transforms asynchronous and synchronous learning. Academic libraries and librarians must continue to remain relevant. Highlighting our scholarship, teaching, and service to students, faculty, and administrators at our respective institutions. ACRL initiatives such as the recent Diversity Alliance addresses a personal mission of mine. The lack of demographics from our communities
Data mining has many benefits. Stores are able to stock merchandise that better reflects what customers want. When Victoria’s Secret started tracking user purchases they noticed that customers in Miami bought much more white lingerie than customers in other areas. As a result they began stocking more white products instead of uniformly stocking all stores benefiting both the store and the customer[i]. Another benefit is that it allows companies to consolidate data from many different sources so that more time can be spent analyzing data than finding it in the first place. This is useful for companies that have multiple financial systems and spend a lot of time trying to combine data into a more useful format rather than doing the actual analysis of the data. A more dramatic example is that some say that 9/11 could have been prevented if the FBI had better data mining tools to share and combine information from different offices[ii]. In addition to crime prevention and financial analysis the medical research community can use these techniques in medical research to identify trends and causes of disease.
Hi, My name is Mohammad Zachariah, you can call me Zachariah and I intend to study computer science. I have learned from scavenger Hunt Activity that the University Catalogue shall be your companion till graduation. Also, you have to manage your time effectively using the academic calendar to avoid any delay in my study process. The Higher education institutes main role is to build enlightened personnel who are able to add value to the country's economy.
Data mining is the automatic study (analysis) of stored data to elicit the results and find patterns beyond these data. Nowadays, various diagnostic and patient medical records devices which may store a huge amount of data are found [2]. Therefore, these medical data that may indicate a heart attack must be stored and processed using data mining technique based neural network; in order to spring up a decision making system for the prediction of a heart attack.
The problem is physicians simply don’t listen to their patients. Medical students aren’t being trained to listen, they are being trained to “follow preset algorithms and practice guidelines in the form of decision trees.” As Dr. Groopman describes the way his doctor diagnosed him, clinicians need to be taught how to think creatively, differently, and open to all possibilities no matter how significant or insignificant they may
1. INTRODUCTION ➢ As we all know many older structures are available all over the world. But there are many concrete structures which have to be repair due public use. There are many structures which are willing to die due to older structure or some new structure which has less strength. So repair or rehabilitation process has to be done in the structure to increase the strength of the structure.
Data mining techniques are the result of a long process of research and product development. This evolution began when business data was first stored on computers, continued with improvements in data access, and more recently, generated technologies that allow users to navigate through their data in real time. Data mining takes this evolutionary process beyond retrospective data access and navigation to prospective and proactive information delivery. Data mining is ready for application in the business community because it is supported by three technologies that are now sufficiently mature:
The data is being derived from health-care system, clinical trials, real-time monitoring, and also other sources. For prediction of required patterns machine learning algorithms are used. The new knowledge is discovered which can lead to resistance in knowledge -based systems with the use of casual relationships. The biggest challenge in making the predictive analysis operational is it offers an often wrong prediction and is difficult to attain the correct predictions and also cost for this prediction is high.
