Article: “BIG DATA AND PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS IN HEALTH CARE”
This article summarizes about the predictive health-care analytics using the clinical arena and also illustrates the results of the predictive systems with various processes which encourage the prevention. This type of systems can minimize the health risks of people and delivery the personalized health-care.
By the year 2025, there is a warning report generated that health-care expenditure increases by 20% of GDP. It can improve the lives and also it never rises the alarming costs of health-care. So big data and analytics offers a part of a solution for this scenario. Internist outlined the performance in terms of diagnosis accuracy across the medicine. `Here, there is a separation of representation

The data is being derived from health-care system, clinical trials, real-time monitoring, and also other sources. For prediction of required patterns machine learning algorithms are used. The new knowledge is discovered which can lead to resistance in knowledge -based systems with the use of casual relationships. The biggest challenge in making the predictive analysis operational is it offers an often wrong prediction and is difficult to attain the correct predictions and also cost for this prediction is high.
The base cost of a disease is low and cost of being wrong is quite high before it is made into action. So to make an action for predictability analytics it’s better to differentiate the whole population into some segments based on the risk levels. at the individual level, it is expected to use more grained data on the people to derive more actionable models. It is necessary to get better models with this fine grated data collected using the mobile devices, telemedicine, and recorders. B this actionable becomes more aggressive, personalized and
Introduction “Health informatics is the science that underlies the academic investigation and practical application of computing and communications technology to healthcare, health education and biomedical research” (UofV, 2012). This broad area of inquiry incorporates the design and optimization of information systems that support clinical practice, public health and research; understanding and optimizing the way in which biomedical data and information systems are used for decision-making; and using communications and computing technology to better educate healthcare providers, researchers and consumers. Although there are many benefits of bringing in electronic health systems there are glaring issues that associate with these systems. The
Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) is a group of individual health plans that are intended to provide services for costumers’ that purchase insurance policies and for those that cannot afford health insurance. Many of these organization are led by physicians, and other professionals that network together to make health care affordable for patients. In the HMO category there are five separate managed care plan models. First, the Group Model (HMO), is a group that has a number of physicians that mainly agree to provide care to a defined group of patients in return for a fix rate capita payment for discounted fees from insurance companies (Henderson, 2012 p.212).
Computers have totally proliferated the world of medicine. They are used to monitor vital signs, to operate artificial hearts and to compile and store medical histories. Though not directly related to our well being, the last use is of utmost importance. Today, the use of medical databases and computer...
Health informatics is best described as the point where information science, medicine, and healthcare all meet. It encompasses the resources, devices, and methods required to optimize the acquisition, storage, retrieval, and the use of information in health and biomedicine. Health informatics incorporates tools such as: computers (hardware and softwar...
...ng informatics. The integration of an early warning scoring system with nursing practice is a means with which technology and nursing knowledge evolve to “applied wisdom” (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2012). The data is represented by the vital signs. The collection of vital signs will generate information. The information will be scored in the system and alert the nurse when there are abnormal findings. The nest steps can only be taken by the nurse. Critical thinking, interpretation and application of the findings from the patient’s medical record are the next steps. Nurses must be able to apply the information into their nursing practice in order to continue to develop and deliver the best care to patients. As technology continues to expand to many clinical areas, nurses will need to continue to understand how the world of technology translates to patients.
Healthcare plays an important role in almost every person’s life at one point or another. Many times, one can get caught without, or underinsured and it can be detrimental to their livelihood. With the rising cost of healthcare, it is likely that having a national healthcare policy in place, and as an individual, being able to afford and obtain adequate health insurance has not been required until now. With the new national healthcare plan, it is required for all citizens to obtain and maintain some sort of public or private insurance policy. The rising costs can be attributed to many things. A significant reason for the astronomical cost of health care is because of the staggering amount of uninsured or underinsured individuals receiving medical attention and almost many never paying the bill. Those who do have insurance have seen a gradual increase in their premiums and deductibles to make up for this.
This means the patients’ healthcare information is scattered among various resources. This makes it difficult for physicians to develop an informed decision about the patient. Our interoperability services allow physicians and other registered healthcare services to access the patient data aggregated from different software applications, and systems. This helps them minimize diagnose errors, and avoid confusions regarding medicines. Also, patients can access their medical records and track their own
A health care system exists to address the health care issues of its community. To do so equitably it must recognise, plan for and implement necessary changes to cater for the diverse needs of the community. It is when the community engages in dialogue with the providers of health care that the specific needs are revealed and can then be planned for and implemented. However it is often those who have no voice in the community who have the greatest need of health care. Their lower socio economic status, as well as their lower educational levels, deters them from accessing appropriate health care. Consumer participation is one way to address this lack of representation.
Healthcare administration provides leadership and managemnt to health care systems, hospitals, and private or public health systems. There are requirements for most professions in the health industry but with the proper education and certification, most entry-level careers are attainable. Healthcare administrators are leaders so one must be able to handle the responsibility of the job. There are characteristics that can be associated with being a health care administrator. I have learned over the course of the past few weeks that this the career path that I would like to follow and have set a few goals to help promote my career growth. My research has helped me learn many aspects of this profession and what it takes
Now days, companies are searching for new ways of gathering data so that they can get useful data in order to make well informed decisions regarding the market they are operating in. Google analytics is considered one of the best tools offers extensive amount of data to business owners for free. However, the success of business is highly depended on how well they can arrange data and customize their collected data corresponded to their business priorities. Google analytics provides beneficial information for companies regardless of their extent of operation.
Yignesh Ramachandran states in an article that health informatics “manages all aspects of the effective and efficient planning, collection, organization, implementation, analysis and use of data to create information within the healthcare system.” It gives easier access of client information to the interprofessional team. This system can improve the quality of health care, lowers paperwork and increase productivity. It also decreases the interpersonal time with clients.
The real problem with the health care system in this country is not just the people running it but mainly the massive pit of debt it is continually digging. America spends around 17%, which is about $2.5 trillion of our GDP on health care alone! It is safe to say we spend nearly more than any other country out there. Where is all of this money going though, are they just giving it away to those in need of free medicine or people who cant pay there doctors bills? Most of the money spent is on regulations, research on medicines and failures of medicines that may have not made the “cut” to be on the market.
A topic of discussion happening on many campuses today is technology and how it can be used to improve student success through the use of data collection systems or programs. Technology is a broad term that could simply mean a personal computer or a smart classroom, but the topic that will be discussed specifically in the following research report is academic analytics. Analytics can be used in many ways to help an institution, from planning course offerings to establishing an appropriate budget. While the intention of analytics is to provide a systematic approach for improvement, and it has been available for many years, it is still a new concept and tool for many institutions. York College of Pennsylvania is currently going through the
Health care has always been an interesting topic all over the world. Voltaire once said, “The art of medicine consists of amusing the patient while nature cures the disease.” It may seem like health care that nothing gets accomplished in different health care systems, but ultimately many trying to cures diseases and improve health care systems.
While we may not know exactly what health care will look like in 2050, technological advances will improve the diagnosis and treatment of the chronic health conditions we face. Personalized predictive medicine will allow for living longer healthier lives as wireless monitoring systems allow patients to stay connected to health providers (Lawrence, 2010). The focus will shift from treating acute illnesses to finding and treating ailments before they become serious with more costly complications. This more balanced health care system will become a more affordable arrangement for meeting the primary medical needs of patients in the US (Lawrence, 2010).
