I am pleased to recommend Prateek Anand, our exceptional student from Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) program in computer science. I have known him for more than 10 years, right from the time he took Introduction to Algorithms course in 2nd year of his engineering degree. I have also taken courses such as Distributed systems and Data structures for his batch. As a professor in computer science with more than two decades of experience in teaching and research, I have come across a few dozen outstanding students and he is definitely one of them. Specifically, in his batch of more than 270 students, he was among the top 2% of the students consistently and secured CGPA of 9.004 on a scale of 10. He was not merely interested in solving problems, he probed to figure out how different parameters or variables affect the end results. To this end, he devised several experiments by tweaking variables of problems or questions to see what impact they have on the result. At an undergraduate level, I have seen very few students do this kind of exercise. This was particularly useful in class discussions when evaluating, understanding and weighing the role of different factors in influencing the outcome of a particular solution. Once I even found him studying about emotional intelligence. Therefore, I consider him pretty curious by …show more content…

He was selected as the executive member of computer science department’s student association, a group consisting of 10 talented members to organize department’s quizzes and coding competitions. He organized these events quite maturely and diligently and came up with some fantastic questions for these events. He was also selected as the associate editor of the department’s annual magazine. I remember he had to work several nights in a stretch to complete the proof reading of all submitted articles for timely publication of the magazine.
Although he has been away from academia for quite some time, he has managed to publish fantastic papers on data analytics and context-aware computing in internet of things and software fault prediction. These were published at reputed venues without any assistance from academic sources. This speaks volumes about his capacity and capability to carry out independent
