This is our time to decide for our own future. This is also our time to be more responsible than we ever have been in our lifetime. I know that I will have to choose a career I want to pursue in my future. I plan on becoming a graphic designer because I am very experienced with technology and art. I have been drawing and painting on the computer for a very long time. I’ve also done both on paper. I feel that it is something I am very talented in and that I will be very successful doing in a career. There will be requirements and duties I will have to be responsible for, in order to excel in being a graphic designer. In the long run, I will be making some good money every time I work. First of all, there are requirements I need to meet for becoming a graphic art designer, like any other career. While in high school, it is important for me to take basic art classes such as art history, 2D (2-Dimensional), digital design, and studio art. I would have to take one of them for at least a year. I have taken a year of 2D art when I was a freshman, technical design when I was a sophomore, and I am now currently taking digital design and 3D art honors. Other skills I should take into consideration are writing and economics, which both are beneficial for graphic designers as they help them cooperate more productively with project teams. I also realize that a portfolio of my artwork will be required when I get into desired colleges or universities for art design so I can unleash my artistic ability. An associate arts degree or even better, a bachelor’s degree is ideal for getting into any graphic design career, according to The Bureau of Labor Statistics. Graphic artists typically work in art studios, which make it much more convenient for them to put their time into their creations. It even means a better environment for artists when they do their artwork on drafting tables and with technology. The Bureau stated, “Although many graphic designers work independently, those who work for specialized graphic design firms often work as part of a design team.” This is true, because graphic artists certainly enjoy and need to have space. Also, graphic artists do need to work with colleagues, clients, or the art director when creating their projects. Pairing up or even getting into groups will definitely help them out with their ideas. However, some graphic artists are self-employed which means they could have the ability to work from home. Working from home can give you more space to put thought into your projects and time to craft your projects with less distraction. Lighting is also essential. Graphic artists must have high quality lighting to help them create their artwork and sketch out their ideas for their work. Overall, graphic designers need a lot of space to focus on their projects and brainstorm ideas; meanwhile, they need to engage with other co-workers, clients, or the art director for better ideas on what to do on their
