In order to begin researching articles for this assignment I first had to review my Creative Y.O.U. to see about my personal design philosophy, and while doing so I thought about how I’m utilizing this within my portfolio. Looking over my objectives with what I’ve presented so far, I noticed I would like to add to the second statement by having it read, ‘I aim to emphasis how I use color (and/or symbolism) to help convey the intended message’’ because I tend to use both equally.
This last thought led me to seriously think about which area of design I should be researching for, and unless an opportunity arises for a graphic illustrator position soon after graduation, I foresee me doing freelance work. With this in mind I started looking into what being a freelancer entails, which led me to an article titled, ‘So, You Want a Creative Job?’ (Karjaluoto, 2012)
Karjaluoto talks about what it takes to work in a creative design field and his take on how he went from working at a ‘job’ for a daily newspaper to starting his own design agency and becoming a Creative Director. As many in this field can attest to, ‘A creative life is a long, hard road, with very few clearly marked signs.’ (Karjaluoto) This is the industry standard for those of us who are in our infancy when it comes to careers as freelance designers. There will be times where it’ll seem as if ones career as a freelancer is at a standstill, yet in order to get through the tough times one must stay committed to his/her mission as a designer. Some advice the author gives is that there will be periods of self-doubt, yet one should ‘Grow a thick skin, fail as much—and as quickly—as you can, and give it everything you’ve got’ (Karjaluoto).

She allows her readers to ponder about the message she is displaying as she says, “…that the self can interrupt the self-and does- is a darker and more curious matter” (3). She then leads into a thought provoking statement, where she explains that there people that “…that make the world go around,” and those that don’t just make it go around “…but forward.” (4). With this statement, Oliver leads her readers into really thinking about the world and the fact that there are two kinds of the work, but also that they work simultaneously to have the world both “go around” and forward (4). To conclude her paper, Oliver beautifully adds a point saying, “ The most regretful people on the earth are those who felt the call to creative work… and gave to it neither power nor time,” which leaves her readers to truly rethink the way they should go at their creative work (7). Oliver uses strong points exquisitely throughout her paper, and in such a way that forces her readers to think more than they would do for other papers. With such strong points, Oliver displays her creative work message in such a way that causes her audience of hopeful and creative workers to take her words to heart if they want to be
...long career provides a lighthouse of hope to all artists who labor in the dark, uncertain of their efforts but determined to express their voice." (Schneider, 129).
This act of creativity involves effort, toil, inspiration, failure, and is accompanied by the scorn and criticism of others who do not understand, as Arthur Koestler puts, the bisociative connection the artist makes in his inspirati...
By citing a quotation from author Daniel Pinks who states, that the talents individuals require for success in the 21st Century are not, “linear, logical, analytic talents,” but ones that provide, “the ability to create artistic and emotional beauty, to detect patterns and opportunities,” and “to craft a satisfying narrative,” Gioia is able to build his point with the agreement of a respected individual. He then immediately follows with a statement that business leaders like to see, “imagination, creativity, and higher order thinking” as qualities for individuals in management positions. This dual utilization of claims from two separate sources conveys to Gioia’s audience the sense that the skills built through immersion in the arts are vital to succeeding in the modern workplace which aids in logically leading his audience to the conclusion that a loss of experience with the arts may foreshadow troubling
After being ranked 8th in the world and having a known name in the sporting industry, he was easily contacted and hired for designing sports/surfing magazines and advertisements. In the interview conducted by Designboom, Carson stated that he had no real formal training in the design world, resulting in a lack of knowledge in basic design content (i.e. grids, formulas, schools of thought, etc.) (Designboom, 2014). But, with his early interest and education in sociology, and his Bachelor of Arts degree, he is easily able to work with real stories, real people, events, and music. When Carson is given the brief article that he must design around, or the client’s idea pitch, he just designs what he feels is right (Designboom, 2014). The more pieces he creates, the more experimental he gets. This act of fearlessness and adventuresome is what makes him such a desirable designer. Clients are confident that he will produce something unique, beautiful, and daring. Carson stated that his strongest skill is his “ability to speak visually and emotionally to a wide variety of audiences and topics” (Designboom, 2014). Carson has been in the design industry for many years and has worked with many varied clients, making his knowledge and level of creativity mastered. His curious, bold, and open-minded personality, plus his experimental, clever, and unique approach to design, has made the successful designer who he is
Some may now ask, why should I allow other to use my work if they are able to profit off of it, even if I am given proper credit? I encourage everyone to have their work out for everyone in order for it to be worked on. This helps your work be corrected or modified in order to be used in something else you didn’t think it could be used in. Having your work out, not only allows it to be used in several places, and give you a monetary incentive, but as well it benefits society because your work may be the foundation to solving a problem which we haven’t been able to solve, such as cancer, HIV, droughts, crop failure, etc. There are not only benefits to you, or the other person you helped, but society as a whole.
The Creative Class is divided into two major groups. The first being the “Super-Creative Core” and “Creative Professionals.” The first group or Super-Creative Core is made up of 12% of the all jobs in the United States. Florida deems members of this group people who are fully engaged in the creative process. These people would be deemed innovators and creators of products and consumer goods. They are engineers, scientist, educators, researchers, artists and more. The second group is creative professionals who are the thinkers of America bringing talents in health care, business, finance, law, and much more. Their job is to solve detailed problems with a degree of higher education (Florida, 2002). These creative professionals are people in the healthcare business and finance industries. People within this group and interested in drawing on complex bodies of knowledge to solve specific problems.

I have had two part-time jobs involving computer related work, in which I have been able to bring art influences into. When working for Retail Futures, an e-commerce company based in Malvern, I designed their corporate image, and websites for clients such as Coalport and Parcel Force. More recently I have taken another job with a more technical slant, for another e-commerce firm, eplexus. I still do design work, in which I have designed websites and images for "Highwaycode.com", and Anglo Digital a successful venture capitalist firm. Alongside my practical experience, I am also studying Computing at my current college, which aids me to learn the fundamentals of computer usage and programming, an area that I am interested in.
Interior Design is recognized as a stressful career due to the demanding clients and deadlines established. Commercial or contract designers tend to have higher stress levels than residential designers because commercial designers have strict deadlines to meet since their clients are companies or corporations. To manage stress levels, all designers must possess certain skills. They must be able to manage time, communicate fully and effectively with the clients, apply their creativity to projects, and make decisions. By learning and applying these skills to their work life, Interior Designers will be able to lower their stress levels and be more successful. Since Interior Design is such a client-collaborative career, a variety of skills including time management, communication, decision making, and creativity, are needed to be successful in the field.
For so many years I’ve asked myself the question, “what are you going to do with your life?” For a period of time I struggled with this question. Today, I sit staring at my computer, confronting myself, asking my subconscious “what do I want to do for the rest of my life?” Have I finally found the answer I 've been looking for, or am I under the false assumption that this is the right path for me. This semester has been the ultimate opportunity to explore my questions, doubt, issues, and concerns. I feel that by the end of this paper I will have answered all these questions, and will have made the best decision for my future.
Designing in any way is a career that I could say becomes natural to me because it all involves some experience in art and art is the basic beginning of it all.
The philosophy with which I approach my education are that all institutions of learning are somewhat like a factory assembly line, where students are molded and are expected to meet certain specific standards by the time they graduate. Education is significantly important for a positive future. Education allows people to reach their fullest potential and help others later on reach their fullest potential. In this paper in I will try to provide information on how I came about choosing my career choice in the fashion industry, from academic excellence, life-long learning, collaboration, openness, integrity, and service.
I was interested particularly in doing graphics design and the visual communication that I was inspired by combining images phrases and ideas to illustrate to the target and audience so that they would impact and react on those kind of illustrated for e.g. the billboards, poster, the product packaging and lots of more advertisement there. There are lots of elements on different types of media that I have already mentioned but there are also examples like Logos which really encourage people and make those people to think about logos. There are also lots of books designs and magazines advertisements thinking from these graphics design use of socially, morally ethical thinking mainly it happens when people do mostly think about positively and negatively so it would affect people’s mind and they would think more in detailed meaning which is called graphical visual communication, to demonstrate the recycle logo which would be advertise the recycling of ‘trees hunger and suffer do recycle paper’.
The time to breathe before advancing further in my future projects, the difficult moments instead of discouraging me, these moments give me motivation and the necessary energy to move forward. I am optimist but realistic. My parents taught me that we live in a world that is constantly changing and to succeed we need a smart plan and the ability to adapt and adjust to the changing world environment but more importantly one need to prepare one’s self to succeed. We need discipline and above all an unshakable will to resist difficulties when they happen. “An ongoing work of art” would probably be one of the best ways to describe my life. From very early on in life, I have learn that I can be the artist of my own life through guidance and hard work, I learned that we are the architecture of our life, the artist of our own destiny through work, commitment and determination. Every route taken or not taken will somehow impact our existence and leave a trail like a shooting star in the night sky, the beauty of the trail depends entirely on the nature of our actions in life. This is the first time in my existence I have had the opportunity to write the story of my life in detail. This exercise
