Ben Carson and Bernie Sanders were both presidential candidates in the 2016 election, and they couldn’t be further from each other in similarity. They are on two totally different ends of the spectrum. A liberal and a conservative, a Democrat and a independent party. They seem different in all their views and beliefs. And for the most part they are. However, while Ben Carson and Bernie Sanders have very different personal and political views, they have many things in common about their background, as well as many things to compare and contrast. Ben Carson was born on December 18, 1951, in Detroit. His parents were both very young, his mother only being 20 when he was born. His parents divorced, and he lived with his mother and several siblings. They were extreamly poor. Ben attended a small school, and initially he struggled with school. However, his mother made him write book reports once a week, and he started to get better grades in school. He has very distinct personal qualities. There isn’t much to compare in the sense of their political views. They are on two separate sides of the spectrum. Although they disagreed on many things, they both cared very deeply about this nation as well as its future. Neither campaign relied on Super PAC’s or sponsorship, but on small, individual donations. Regarding their political views, there are not many similarities. One is conservative, one is liberal. One is Democrat, while the other is independent. Bernie Sanders wanted to tax the rich more heavily, while Ben Carson wanted a ten percent flat tax for all. Where they agree is that they both wanted to break away from Obamacare, and replace it with their own plan. Although believed many different things, they grew up in very similar homes.
