During an interview of three family members, I was able to learn more information about the events of 9/11. My mom, Jamie Goldman, was the first person I interviewed. She told me she was helping a friend with her new business in Aiken, SC. She first heard on the radio, breaking news, that a plane had flown into one of the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center. Her first thought was that a plane had crashed accidentally. As the day went on, she learned of even more horrible acts against our country, and then realized our Nation was under attack from terrorist. My mom was heartbroken, scared, sad, and mad all at the same time. She struggles with forgiving the terrorist but knows that God would want her to forgive them. The song "God Bless the USA" is a song that helps my mom cope with the events of 9/11. My mom did not know anyone personally that was killed or injured on 9/11. She said, "after 9/11, our country has been a country at war. We have stopped loving our neighbors and instead, started judging them." …show more content…
My second interview was with my grandmother, Jean DeVault.
She was helping with student testing at Jackson Middle School located in Jackson, South Carolina when she first heard of the attacks on the Twin Towers. Her first reaction was disbelief. She said "she had never seen such horrible acts against our country in her lifetime." She did not know anyone personally that died or was injured on 9/11. She said, "you didn't have to know a person to feel the same sadness and loss that everyone else in our country felt on that day." She has since forgiven the terrorist that attacked our country and feels that the events of 9/11 have made us all more aware of what terrorist are and what terrorism is. She turns to her bible to find comfort in dealing with the events of
9/11. My last interview was with my dad, Jeffery Goldman. On the day of 9/11, he was working day shift at the Bridgestone Firestone Plant located in Aiken, South Carolina. At first, he didn't think the attacks were real. He had overheard a few guys talking about it but had no access to a phone, radio, or television to check it out for himself. As the day went on and more attacks happened, more phone calls came into the plant and he was able to call my mom to verify what had happened. Once he realized it had happened, he was angry and very sad. He said "he was angry at the people doing this and then sad for our country." He didn't know anyone personally harmed or killed on 9/11. Every time he hears the song by Allan Jackson 'Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning" he can recall every sad and horrible event of that day. He has not forgiven the terrorist but hopes to be able to do that one day. He said, " since 9/11, our country has changed for the worst and we should all be fearful of more attacks." I was not born before the horrible events on 9/11, but that day has affected my life since I was born. My parent's and friends talk about our country before 9/11, and they seem happy. Then they talk about our country after the events of 9/11, and I hear sadness, anger, and fear. The before seems so much better than the after. I am afraid of another event like 9/11 on our country, but I have put my faith and trust in God. I know he has a plan for all his people, and I trust in him. God will give me strength when my fear is tested. My prayer is that this country will turn to God for strength and healing.
Lydia did not hide what happened during Hurricane Katrina, she shared her story with others. “But it’s Lydia’s story that stays with me most, probably because it represents the essence of hope and determination in the face of terrible adversity.” (p.131) This quote made me realize how significant the impact of sharing has on people who weren’t even victims of Hurricane Katrina. I feel like Lydia showed a tremendous amount of courage that not many people could have done.
The day was September 11th, 2001, a moment in history that will never be forgotten by any American living at the time. It was in the early morning hours on this day that our nation experienced the single most devastating terrorist attack ever carried out on American soil. Images of planes crashing into the World Trade Center, news coverage of buildings on fire, and images of building rubble will forever be imprinted into the history of this great nation. However, it was on one of the darkest days for America that one of the most impassioned speeches ever given by a United States president was spoken. President George W. Bush’s speech addressing the nation after the “9/11” attacks was infused with pathos through his imagery of destruction and
As I continued to chat with my pastor that day, I really sensed the hurt in his eyes – the anger that comes from an unsolvable injustice, the tiredness of a problem. “What’s wrong?” I finally asked, “Having a bad day?” Sensing that I was truly concerned, he let the truth be told. “I talked with a woman today whose baby died suddenly of unknown causes. As we worked through her grief, she talked about how numerous friends and family, even a religious leader had patted her on the back, shook their heads and said, ‘It was God’s will.’ I find few things worse to say to a grieving parent. Saying nothing at all would be of more help.” It was obvious from our conversation that he had an understanding greater than I about God’s will, and his insight created in me a curiosity and desire to learn more.
On September 11, 2001, America was forever changed. On this day, America faced the biggest terrorist attack that had ever been carried out; thousands of people lost their lives that day. Throughout the sadness and mourning of this terrible event, George Bush addressed the nation with one of the most memorable speeches. When President Bush addressed the nation, he stated that America is strong and they could try to bring us down, but we will not be broken. This speech gave hope to many Americans and helped them remember to stay strong. This day will be forever remembered for all the souls that lost their lives and the brave people who threatened their own life to save others.
It was the year 2010 and a dog that had survived 9/11 was depressed because, her owner died in 9/11. She was a search dog at 9/11, is 9 years old now, a German Shepard, and a police dog. The dogs name is Karis and a family with only a mother took Karis in. There was one daughter named Velma. Mother is the dogs police partner.
While we were on our D.C. trip we got to go to the 9/11 memorial, it was such an honor to be able to go. By going it was definitely an eye opener for me to really see how many people lost their lives and how many families lost their loved ones. You don’t truly understand how many people died and what a tragedy this event was until you actually see the memorial or if you saw what actually happened, it is amazing to think that all those firefighters gave their live to help protect others. These people should be honored throughout history because of what they did. By really hearing about the 9/11 attack and getting to see the memorial really opened my eyes to see how serious it really was and how many lives in ended and how many families it affected. The memorial is such an amazing place to be and to think that where you are standing is where the twin towers used to stand and where so many people used to work. Not only did the attack affect the people on the planes or in the buildings, but also the people who lived or worked around that area. Before seeing the 9/11 memorial and hearing about what happened, I didn’t really understand how big of a deal this attack was. While I was at the memorial I took a moment and looked around me and I saw other families and people there walking through the memorial or standing by a name. Seeing that really made me understand how
Throughout her experience, she found comfort in her faith, although tested. In her writing, she praises the Lord for situations such as her using oak leaves to tend her wounds (31). As the minister’s wife, she makes sure to make known her devotion to the Lord, referencing the Bible often. She wants her readers to know the power of God and faith in hard times “here Read, you may see an instance of the Sovereignty of God, who doth what he will with his own as well as others; and who may say to him, what dost thou?... That God is indeed the supream Lord of the World”
September 11 is not just about mourning, it's about the community giving back hope. It is about police forces and firefighters in N.Y , the servicemen and females in the Pentagon, including the many passengers in the flights. September 11 was a day of disgrace, but it was also a day of bravery, and of integrity.

On September 11, 2001 the United States of America was targeted for a terrorist attack. This attack, known as 9/11, has many theorized and some proved causes. 9/11 has affected America greatly and even continues to now. Effects began in September, 2001 and continues all the way to modern time. Major effects include social, political and economical effects that are within the country. Another major effect is America’s response to her foreign culprits. There are many causes and effects of the 9/11 attack on the United States of America.
9-11 was a very tragic point in United States because it made the nation feel helpless. Many people were killed during 9-11, 2,977 died during the events. Local fire departments tried to help but some were able too. Many firefighters were angry because they wanted to help but a few of them were sent out. When the first plane hit many people needed to evacuate but eventually stopped by security guards. Then another plane hit the second tower. It took an hour and thirty minutes for both towers to completely collapse. All airlines were shut down during the attacks preventing anybody from leaving. People were shocked and scared because it came from nowhere and nobody expected it to happen. 9-11 is an tragic event that caught many people by surprise,
On September 11, 2001 terrorists crashed two American airline airplanes into Twin Towers, killing thousands of people. It was the worst terrorist attack in American history and it showed us that we are not protected by Atlantic and Pacific. It showed us that we could be attacked by anyone at anytime. It showed us that if we will be attacked again that we can only depend on each other and not on other nations to help us. The 9/11 changed people forever, some lost family members or friends, others lost their jobs even so called “American Dream.”
Sustainment by definition IAW FM 4-0, is the provision of logistics, personnel services, and health service support necessary to maintain operations until mission accomplishment. It’s an integrated process inextricably linked to operations.
Many people of different race, nationalities, and creed lost their lives that day, but hundreds of stories of heroism arose. We are reminded of the mystery and the reality of evil but we are also reminded of the courage that God can invoke in man. Courage transpired in the hearts of New York’s fire fighters, who put their lives in danger to save countless of lives and many paid the ultimate price. Billy Graham’s 9/11 speech at the National Cathedral in Washington said “Why does God allow evil like this to take place? Perhaps that is what you are asking. You may even be angry at God. I want to assure you that God understands these feelings that you may have.” This courage can also been seen from the 40 passengers and crew on board Flight 93, they understood if they didn’t act in the face of evil something a lot more tragic could occur if they didn’t sacrifice themselves. This type of courage was seen recently with the American tourist that prevented the terrorist train massacre. U.S. serviceman Spencer Stone’s story is nothing short of remarkable, only leaves to question how God wasn’t involved with what he describes as
that he is good now in God's light. God, to her, will show her the right way,
