In a classroom environment, it is essential to understand how each and every individual student is able to retain information. The seven different learning styles: visual, aural, verbal, physical, logical, social and solitary are all effective strategies a teacher can use in order to allow students of many different backgrounds to learn in their own unique way. It is very important for a teacher to implement these aspects into their daily teachings because their main goal is to get all students to understand the information they are required to learn. School for some kids is a difficult place to learn and be comfortable based off of their learning preferences and if an instructor can assist in any way possible it can make a tremendous difference in how students view education. As a teacher there are a plethora of ways to create a well thought out lesson plan that covers all learning style areas and accommodates every student. Overall, a teacher should consider all seven learning styles while instructing a class to ensure that all students have equal opportunity to learn and feel comfortable in a school environment.

This learning concept allows students to gain an understanding of certain material by applying critical thinking to their areas of study. As a teacher in a physical education class, it is easy to involve these students by giving them an understanding of how the body moves as these types of kids will focus on fundamental aspects of physical performance. These logical learners tend to think about big picture versus small details and could do very well in a physical education class that also introduces anatomy. The purpose of this reflective essay on the debate is to analyse my team and my own personal learning style and experience of participating in the debate and in the preparation period - that started in week 7 with the mock debate - by structured and based on Honey and Mumford’s Learning Styles theory, and examine some ideas for my future practice.
A learning style inventory is a way to assess and understand how one learns. We all learn in different ways and understanding how we learn is valuable when trying to tackle new tasks and to succeed in school. The learning style inventory asked 12 different questions to measure how one learns. Each question was rated on a scale of one to four, with four being most like you and one being least like you. The total was each category was then added and the results for learning style were determined. My results showed that I am mainly a reflective observation (RO) learner, with 39 points in that category. I am equal parts active experimentation (AE) and abstract conceptualization (AC) learner, with 32 points in each of those categories and I am least concrete experience (CE) with only 17 points in that category.
The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) (DEEWR, 2009) identifies inquiry as central to effective early years learning. Everyone has different learning styles. Learning styles are important because they help you better understand materials in classes. They are there to guide you and become a better student. Learning styles help you better grasp the material and better process it through your brain. When learning you want to do what is most beneficial for you. That is why there is many different learning styles to suit every person. There is three different types of learning styles categorized. The first learning style is auditory. Auditory is meant for individuals that enjoy asking questions, talking and listening, as well as like to read out loud. When reviewing these factors there will be a sense of when the students responses are more consistent and help a teacher figure out when a student learns the best and how they learn as an individual.
