Common IT Technician Challenges When most people think of an IT technicians the first thing that comes to mind is, they fix computers, but there are lots of challenges that occur throughout the day that people may not be aware of or think about often. IT technicians face a number of challenges on a day to day basis, other than just fixing computers, IT technicians deal with end users lack of computer knowledge and poorly tested system updates that sometimes cause system outages. The end users that I assist daily range between the ages of 18-75, are both men and women that either work in one of the many bank branches or work in one of our main offices back offices. We have a few that we never hear from, but many that call us daily simply, because they have no computer knowledge outside of their normal programs, such as Outlook email. Computers have changed our lives in many many different ways. We do a lot of things from computers and our portable devices such as get music, watch videos, pay bills, order dinner, keep connected with friends on social media sites like Facebook or Twitter, take college classes online, and many other things that I could make a 5 page list of all the things it can help us do straight from home but that would bore you to death. Now that I have told you how computers have changed our lives and how they are used in daily life let me tell you the importance of the people working in computers and IT. These people are very important because without them who would you go to for help with your computer, make sure your information is safe, get viruses off your computer and keep it safe for kids from being attacked? That’s right you wouldn’t be able to do any of this. That’s why they’re there when you need it.

For every job that you have, you will need to have a certain set of skills to be successful. For example, two people are looking to be hired, but only one person will actually get the job. The two people have near identical resumes but a few things make them different. While the first person was able to articulate his ideas when he was being interviewed, the second person could not. The first person was incredibly dedicated to getting the job while the second person was not. Last but not least, the first person was able to adapt to the fast moving paced job unlike the second person. In the end the first person got the job because of his dedication, flexibility, and communication skills. It would be extremely unbeneficial to go into a job without having, in my opinion, these most important set of skills. While there are several job skills that are essential to being successful, I strongly believe that being dedicated, adaptable, and have phenomenal communication skills are the most important.
Computer technicians mostly only deal with hardware and software and as previously stated, they try it out to see if it works properly. This can be not only reparing, they also need to be able to build a computer from the only components he or she is given. Then once it is built they will install any programs that are needed and any that will increase the performance.
