The significance of the role of the Operation System (OS) in the overall Information Technology employment sector cannot be undervalued. Indeed, it is hard to talk about technical skill-sets or the practical application of such skill-sets without at least some underlying understanding of their context within a computer operating system environment. From hardware specifications and requirements, user technical support, system administration and security, to software development and system implementation, operating systems are an integral part of the information technology and computing world in all its aspects, and it is difficult to form a concrete demarcation between specialized careers in this industry and the concept of the computer operating system. Probably the most common thought of career position within the information technology arena that garners the most OS-centric job description specifics is that of the system administrator or network administrator. A system administrator is a person employed to maintain and operate a computer system or network for a company or other organization. The duties of a system administrator are wide-ranging, and vary widely from one organization to another. Sysadmins are usually charged with installing, supporting, and maintaining servers or other computer systems, and planning for and responding to service outages and other problems. Other duties may include scripting or light programming, project management for systems-related projects, supervising or training computer operators, and being the equivalent of a handyman for computer problems beyond the knowledge of technical support staff. Unlike many other professions, there is no single path to becoming a system administrator. I plan to re-enter the software application development job in the very near future, following graduation from RVCC. In programming, computer engineers instruct computers how, to do their jobs or desired functions line by line. There are many forms of computer software engineers. There are computer applications software engineers who analyse user needs and designs and then build, maintain, or perfect specialized utility systems or applications already within the system. Computer applications engineers have a multitude of computer programming languages they have to use on a daily basis. Generally the favorite languages used are C, C++, and Java. The less popular languages that are used are Fortran and COBOL. Software engineers may also also develop packaged systems, systems software, or even create personalized applications. Computer systems software engineers are responsible for designing the maintenance and construction of a company's computer systems, while also planning the systems future growth. Computer systems software engineers analyse the needs of each specific department while working with a company and advise the company on which technical direction to follow. Computer systems software engineers often help set up the technical systems of the company within the departments. The computer systems software engineers will also sometimes set up the companies intranets systems. Specifically the ones that link the company's computer systems with the organization and make communications between departments run faster and smoother. Computer
That’s why they’re there when you need them. Specifically, my main goal in this paper is to help you understand what a Computer Systems Analyst is, what they do, things like those that explain everything about a Computer Systems Analyst. You could probably guess from the name of this job title that the main function of a Computer Systems Analyst is to determine how a computer system can best help something. Well, this is exactly the key role of what they do is determine how a computer system can best serve a business or organization's needs. David P. Bieg says “You need to understand how systems interact, but you don’t really need to understand the core of every technology---it’s really about how information and process flows through the system.”
1.0 IntroductionIn this report I will be concentrating on the failure of software systems. To understand why software systems fail we need to understand what are software systems. Software systems are a type of information system. This is because a software system is basically a means for hardware to process information. Flynn’s definition of an information system is:"An information system provides procedures to record and make available information, concerning part of an organization, to assist organization-related activities."Humans have been processing information manually for thousands of years, but with the vast increase of demand for knowledge this century has meant that a new method of information processing has been needed. Software systems have provided a new means that is much faster and efficient.
The career path that I have chosen was computer engineering. I chose this career because I have spent my entire life around computers, and had experience working with programming languages and the hardware. I gained further interest in computer engineering after I took an AP Computer Science class in high school. In the class I was required to use programming languages to create different types of programs which challenged me. This inspired me to want to learn even more about the computer science field and to learn more java script and programming languages.
I am happy with my major and occupation choice now I need to get experience and volunteer at a physical therapy office. It is challenging to find a internship but I will overcome that obstacle. I plan on networking, becoming consistent, and finding a internship within the next year.
A computer support specialist has many responsibilities. A daily responsibility that is done every day is that they watch computer systems to monitors its performance. Computer support specialist help people set up their computers and show them how to work them. On a daily basis they are always answering questions to resolve problems such as issues relate to hardware and software. Also they must be able to test network systems and check for issues with local area networks. They maintain daily records of their communications. Also they train users on how to use their hardware and software. Computer support specialists stay busy with all their tasks. Also it is important to back up data in case the computer crashes or something happens.
A computer engineer has certain duties and responsibilities depending on the location and size of the firm he or she works for. Also the duties vary between job levels. If you work at a small firm, you will be set up on the firing line immediately and will be expected to make your boss money or you’ll be fired. Also in a smaller firm you’ll probably spend hours of pain-staking time trying to solve a problem that other engineers probably went over before.
My interest in Information Systems Management was drawn when I was working on my final year project at Maharashtra Institute of Technology under the able guidance of the head of the Computer Engineering department. Professor R. K. Bedi’s support provided a much needed boost to my confidence in my programming skills. This new found confidence, in conjunction with the organization management skills I had acquired through active participation in extracurricular activities like “Tesla”, in inter college programming fest, made me realize I wanted to pursue a program that had comprised a blend of both the computer science and management disciplines.
Becoming a computer programmer would be great because there are many options in this career by having the ability to produce an operating system, or a game for the world. Computer programmers have many opportunities in life to find a job they would love. Programmers can work independently, or in a big company. Programmers have and are creating the future for computers.
