One of the most memorable experiences of my life was my 18th birthday. I was a senior in high school and I skipped my last class to go to San Francisco to see a heavy metal concert with my older brother. After arriving in town, we found parking and stood in line for the venue to open. The line for the venue grew in number as we arrived, as soon as the doors opened, the line had become a mob that stretched around the block, dressed in dark clothes, men and women, some wearing denim vests covered in patches and others with shirts depicting dark monsters and unreadable fonts of band names. The mob slowly pushed its way into the building, an old concert hall with the smell of dust and age in a corner of old San Francisco. The old building had …show more content…

The longer the night went, the more intoxicated and drunk the people around appeared. I was exhausted from being in the pit, colliding from one person to another. I got some food and ate, and then waited at the front of the stage for the last band to come on. The lights went out and everyone hurried to get back to their seats, A white curtain hung up by stage hands covered the stage now. Lights slowly started swirling around the room from no apparent source, slowly going faster as a primal beat was in tandem. All the lights converge on the white curtain, and the emblem of a circle with four sword crossing in a pentagram like manner was displayed by the lights. The curtain dropped, and the music spew out of the speakers, and all hell broke loose as Slayer, started playing. Its safe to say that the crows went literally crazed in their drunk, adrenaline states, the pit was a nonstop vortex of people, some literally were thrown from how unstable the pit was. I land at the front of the stage wedged between other fans, as the pit pressed against are backs, drunks would pile on behind us to try to get close to the stage, at one point a drunk women tried to pry me from my spot, who I happily shoved into the pit without hesitation, I watch from the corner of my eye as she was swept away by the speed of the pit. When Slayer had finished, me and my brother got back together and left with are merch, we both were soaked in sweat, exhausted and fatigue, we had literally thrashed for an entire night.
