If (for my 12th grade graduation) I had to choose a symbol to represent all of the hard work that I had done at school, it would definitely be a battered crash test dummy. I think that it would represent all of this hard work and dedication because of 3 things. First, it shows that I’d have experienced an incredible amount of trauma against my will. Second, it points out that I have had no control over my experiences. Finally, it (like a diploma) demonstrates that in the end,it was all worth it and for a good cause. To start, this particular heavily damaged crash test dummy would show that I had experienced an enormous amount of trauma against my will over the course of 12 long years. To put it mildly, school can be an exhausting experience. You have to go to a boring building seven hours a day, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, etc. for 12 years, only for people to give you work that you receive no reward for. Sometimes, your dozens of bosses will give you punishments for the most miniscule infractions; say, for example, talking in a hushed whisper to the person next to you. Remember back in paragraph 1 when I said you have no control over what you do and do not do at school? Well, that’s not the whole nine yards. Sometimes when you get punished, the people punishing you will often only punish you more if you try to explain why you did this “horrible” thing you did. It’s madness! Many of the tasks you are assigned to complete come with often unreasonable due dates, and to compound that are often difficult and, every now and then, utterly nonsensical.
