For my on-line pharmacy I chose 1-800-PetMeds. After some research I have found exactly what you need to order medicines through them. I have also found their policy on things and what they will do if expectations are not reached. The first thing I notice is that you do not have to have an account with them to order stuff through them. You just pick a medicine and click on it, and then it will be added to your cart for you to continue shopping or for you to proceed to check out.
If you are ordering a prescription (Rx) medication then once you proceed to checkout they will ask for your veterinarian’s contact information to verify the order. They cannot send out (Rx) medication without an authorization verification from your vet because they
could lose their license. You also have the option to mail your vets information if that is what you prefer. They are required by law to know your pet’s medical issues, weight, breed, and age just to make sure your pet gets the right medication and the right dosage. The more they know about the pet the better they can assist you and make sure your pet gets exactly what they need. All of their products are backed with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. No matter the situation if your pet did not like it, you changed your mind about the purchase, or the wrong size or weight was ordered. Also if the product didn’t work they offer a refund and if your pet gets heartworms while taking something to prevent them. They make sure that all of their clients are happy with the service and if something goes wrong or someone is not happy they do whatever it takes to make them happy again. I would recommend this website and the products if I was asked about them because they seem to really care and want your pet to get better just as much as you do.
Louise C. Cope et al, investigated the impact of non-medical prescribing. Non-medical prescribing could be evaluated through the NMP, or other health practitioner such as GP, and patients. Currently there is limited information on how NMP has impacted other professions, such as radiographer, optometrists and physiotherapists. Personally, I think this is due to how recent these professions gained the right to prescribe. Most of the findings have been extremely positive, with limited disadvantages. Within this evaluation of NMP “students who are becoming NMPs felt that the programme provided them with adequate knowledge to prescribe with some stating that the period of learning in practice was ‘the most valuable part of the course’”
Independent Pharmacy Gives Main Street American Service! At the last independent pharmacy in Lexington, Massachusetts, the pharmacists know most customers by name. “We know our customers by face rather quickly and by name soon after that,” said Chris Venier, 64, owner of Theatre Pharmacy in Lexington, MA. “In this new era of chain pharmacies and mail order prescriptions, Theatre Pharmacy is still a place where personal service is a way of life.

...vacy screen on the computer and/or turning the computer away so customers cannot see what’s on the screen, and use a secure network to receive new prescriptions or request refills. A patient must be notified and give authorization to allow a list of their drugs be given to a marketing company. The authorization must say what the data disclosure and use is being planned for and the date when the authorization will expire. In a community practice a pharmacist cannot discuss treatment with anyone unless patient signs authorization. In an institutional practice the patient can call the pharmacist and give permission to talk to a doctor if able to speak. In case of an emergency, such as a heart attack or car accident, the doctor can call the pharmacist to get the information without patient consent. A patient must give a written authorization in a community pharmacy.

When owners take their pets to the clinic, they are understandably anxious about the results and outcome of the visit. While it’s the veterinarian's job to provide care for the animal, it’s also their job to put the owners at ease, reassuring them that their pet will indeed be fine. This communication is vital for building trust, as it lets the owner know what is happening to their animal and gives them confidence in believing that everything will be okay. What’s more, veterinarians that take the time to thoroughly explain procedures and instructions regarding petcare, are teaching pet owners how to better tend to their
Properly implemented and medication-use technology has the potential to moderate these costs. Bar-code-assisted medication administration (BCMA) has been shown to reduce medication administration errors by as much as 54-86%. BCMA, along with computerized electronic prescriber order entry and an electronic medication administration record, closes a technological loop that extends from the transmission of the order to the administration of the medication at bedside (Strykowski, Hadsall, Sawchyn, VanSickle, Niznick,

The National Service-Learning Clearinghouse describes Service-learning (SL) as, “a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities.” SL is nothing new, dating back to The University of Cincinnati founding of the Cooperative Education Movement in 1903; although, service-learning in pharmacy is a relatively new concept (NS-LC). SL is a way for educators to provide real-life learning experiences to students through providing provision to communities or underserved populations. The major benefits to students of S.L. programs are offering experience, an expansion of knowledge, and personal growth; and can be beneficial to a student’s career and resume. Most all of the requirements of the competencies in Pew’s 1998 competency of practice proposal, including thinking ability, communication skills, valuing and ethical decision making, social and contextual awareness, social responsibility, social interaction, and self-learning abilities, are met through service-learning (Drab, Lamsam, Connor, DeYoung, Steinmetz, and Herbert 44).
Electronic-prescribing, often referred to as e-prescribing, is a fairly new, innovative way for physicians and other medical personnel to prescribe medications and keep track of patients’ medical history. Not only has e-prescribing enabled prescribers to electronically send a prescription to the patients’ pharmacy of choice, in the short amount of time it has been available, it has significantly reduced health care costs, not only for the patient, but for the medical facilities as well. In 2003, e-prescribing was included in the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) which jumpstarted the role of e-prescribing in healthcare. It has proven to significantly reduce the yearly number medication errors and prescription fraud, and its widespread publicity has helped build awareness of e-prescribing’s role in enhancing patient safety. Although it has not been in practice for very long, e-prescribing has already made a positive impact in the field of health care.

There will be the two VA outpatient clinics, with 100 veterans from each facility that will participate in the study. Over a 12-month period, the rate of errors will be determined by a pre and post implementation of the barcode medication administration system within the two VA outpatient clinics. Based another studies, over a years’ time, the physicians wrote approximately 1.7 million medication orders, and the nurses who passed the medications, there were approximately 5.9 million given. Based on the design, error rates were compared with hospital’s who had the BCMA, versus the hospital who did not (Poon et al., 2010). It was later noted that the rate of medication errors significantly decreased with the use of the BCMC.
Scott, D. M., Friesner, D. L., Rathke, A. M., & Doherty-Johnsen S. (2014). Medication error reporting in rural critical access hospitals in the North Dakota telepharmacy project. American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 71 (1), 58-67. The authors reported on a 17-month study done where remote pharmacists used telepharmacy technology to review medication orders, identify quality-related events and code clinical interventions. The results of the study show that the North Dakota Telepharmacy model is helpful in resolving quality- related events in critical access hospitals in rural areas. Also, during the study the use of telepharmacy services became more widespread, leading researchers to believe that physicians became more comfortable using the new technology to enhance patient safety.
Pharmacy is not only the act of dispensing medication and council to the customer on use, as I have learned from my first definition. It is a spectrum of definitions comprised in a single field going from broad to specialized as a new genre of health services. Pharmacy is also the chemical preparation, the mixture, the the administrative management of the HMC, which coordinates the physicians, and patients. Finally, to that,in order for all of this to happen, it begins with the student who becomes the PharmD; the PharmD; who does a rotation; the PhD who goes into a speciality; the scientist who follows his heart into pharmaceutics and helps bring new compounds to clinical trial. Pharmacy is the collaboration of a multitude of professionals in and out of the field who all have one major goal, and that is the best interest of the patient. Whether it be the pharmacist behind the counter; the doctor who works with the PharmD to learn more about the patients history; the pharmacist who works on various projects in speciality areas to help determine the best combination for specific diseases; and the NP, nurses social workers who all work as a team with the pharmacist to provide the emotional, medical and therapeutic support needed for the patient to have medication monitored and management therapy as a part of every medication that comes across their medicine cabinets pharmacy is a multitude of actions and interactions.
