Hope everyone is doing well in their respective work field and just a note,fall officially begins this Wednesday.For this week assignment I have chosen eClinicalWorks, which is cloud-based EHRs for solo,small,and large practice physicians. It is a fastest-growing private company based in Westborough,MA and in the past five years ten of their customers have received HIMSS Davies Awards for successful implementation of EHRs by using eClinicalWorks. I decided to move forward with eClinicalWorks because while googling the companies website, I came across a recent article about eClinicalWorks P2POpen network through which interoperability is achieved. 1.Health information and data:eClinicalWorks accommodates to how the providers like to work and thus many features can be configured per provider needs.Documentation can be completed using available templates or by creating patient specific templates.Also enables immediate access to patient records whether in-house or remotely. 2.Result management:Using eClinicalWorks PatientHub, provider can easily search for patient specific lab reports, X-ray,allergies,referrals, consult notes, and much more.Also if patient is web enabled then information can be easily pushed into Patient Portal from PatientHub, as a result patient can access and view their own lab reports and personal …show more content…

diagnosis. 5.Electronic communication and connectivity:eClinicalMobile allows provider to access patient information from any smart phone,send messages,write prescriptions and access to schedules. eClinicalMessenger allows providers to send reminders, lab/imaging procedure notifications either in a batch or individually to patients. 6.Patient support:eClinicalWorks Patient Portal gives patient access to view their own PHR, lab/imaging results,schedule appointments,request prescription refills and much more. Patients can also communicate securely with their physicians over the internet. Physicians can send patient education materials directly to the patient and also send reminders to the patient. 7.Administrative processing and reporting:eClinicalWorks do offer integration of PM into EHRs which enables robust patient scheduling, electronic eligibility checks, able to pull data directly from the clinical note, internal messaging feature, and business intelligence reporting. One feature that really got my attention is claim scrubber which automatically audit insurance claims and make sure that patient data enter is in correct format, thus reduce mistakes and expedite insurance claims. 8.Reporting and population health:According to eClinicalWorks website, CCMR is the most used population health solution however do not have information about the application secondary to access not granted for the demo. eClinicalWorks provide 24/7 support via customer portal,webinars and phone support.Not only that but also provide free data conversion support when provider decide to transition from existing EHRs to eClinicalWorks EHRs. In addition, company also offers role-based securities, clinical decision support system, scanning and faxing software and many more at no extra cost. After extensive search on eClinicalWorks,I have reached a conclusion that company is dedicated to build products that are ease to use, innovative and helps both providers and patients to improve communication and continuity of care,thus results in improved quality of care and reduce cost of care.

The main purpose of EHRs is to mainly exchange health information electronically to help improve quality and safety for patients. Four pros of EHRs is to provide accurate and recent information of the patients, allow for quick access to the patient records, share the health information securely, and make patient records and notes legible. These four points are important and necessary because the goal overall is to improve public health. Patient information should always be updated and current. Health professionals need to easily have access to patient records to either update them or verify the information. Also, health professionals can now avoid any discrepancies with electronic records verses when records were completely on paper.
There are a number of ways in which patient care can be improved with a facility that utilizes multiple charting systems. The simplest way to provide effective quality care is to implement the EHR. A EHR is an electronic system consisting of a complete patient medical health history of past and current conditions (Keller, 2016; Menachemi & Collum, 2011). EHR also allows for quick and easy access to diagnostic test results and patient notes that are needed for patient care. Electronic-prescribing, often referred to as e-prescribing, is a fairly new, innovative way for physicians and other medical personnel to prescribe medications and keep track of patients’ medical history. Not only has e-prescribing enabled prescribers to electronically send a prescription to the patients’ pharmacy of choice, in the short amount of time it has been available, it has significantly reduced health care costs, not only for the patient, but for the medical facilities as well. In 2003, e-prescribing was included in the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) which jumpstarted the role of e-prescribing in healthcare. It has proven to significantly reduce the yearly number medication errors and prescription fraud, and its widespread publicity has helped build awareness of e-prescribing’s role in enhancing patient safety. Although it has not been in practice for very long, e-prescribing has already made a positive impact in the field of health care.

PMR components are the patient full name, date of birth, phone number. Emergency contact information, any know allergies for food and medications, and a list of their medication therapies. For each drug listed in the patient’s record, it must include the drug name, dose, interaction, instruction for medication use, and prescriber information. An electronic record of health-related information on individual conforms interoperability standards can create, manage and consult with the authorized health professionals (Wager et al., 2009).
