Technology has changed the way we perform in today’s workplace. Technology in the 21st century has made a great impact on the business office. The most evident of that change was the introduction of cellular phones and computers. The cellular phone is a very important tool in today’s workplace. Workers cannot only do work on company time, but a lot of work is being done outside of the office during personal time. Just about all cellular phones have internet capabilities. With that capability, workers are able to check emails and keep their work updated.

Of the two, computers is probably the most important when it comes to changes in the workplace. The invention of computers has changed the way companies are being ran all over the country. Computers can be used in many different ways. From use by the human resource department, the accounting department, and even the managerial department. Individuals apply for jobs now by filling out an application online that is sent directly to the human resource department. The accounting department handle all the accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions online. As stated by Soylu, “executives, particularly, may use the Internet and management information systems for resources relating to their financial and HR capital needs” (Soylu 2012). Technology has changed the way we think and the way we work. Everything you need is at touch of a finger.

Education and Technology

Technology in the workplace has also changed the way we learn. Distance learning is the new way of taking classes today. Instead of sitting in the traditional classroom, students are taking the classes right in the comforts of their own homes. Distance learning has made it a lot easier for fulltime worker...
