Christmastime is a time of joy, peace and love. It is also a time where people put aside their differences, accept one another for who they are and practice unconditional love. Right? Well, apparently not if you happen to lean towards the left politically. After all, there is nothing that liberals won't attack these days. Nothing that is considered out-of-bounds or wholesome enough to be beyond reproach. Case in point, a recent article by Carol Costello, the host of "Across America With Carol Costello"
Frank Capra’s, It’s a Wonderful Life illustrates a particular set of morals and values. In fact, most of Capra’s films include these basic values, which include love of hard work, love of community, love of country, and love of God (Dillon, 42). However, It’s a Wonderful Life magnifies these ideas in a way that is almost unavoidable. Considering the unpopularity of the film when it first opened, compared to its growing success over the years, a great deal can be said about our changing society and
Every year I look forward to Thanksgiving. For myself this is a magical holiday where you may eat whatever you want and no one is counting calories. At this time of the year there is always a big gathering at my cousin’s house. My family is also the type that does not hold back on cooking delicious items. Everyone usually brings a dish which ensures plenty of variety. Once the weather starts changing and the hues of the leaves turn to a nice orange my body knows this wonderful holiday is coming
Holidays are a time of heartwarming, memories and joy. The aroma of the food always brings a smile to my face. Christmas is the most wonderful time in the world. Christmas and Thanksgiving are all about love and being able to give back. Both of the holidays are the most celebrated holidays in the United States. My two favorite holidays are Thanksgiving and Christmas because it unites family from different parts of the world together and the homemade food brings back the fun and touching memories
of American award-winning author Mark Twain. If anyone knows anything about classics, it’s Mark Twain, writer of “The Great American Novel” The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. That quote applies to two of the most known classics there are: William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and Otis Turner’s The Wonderful Wizard of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz film. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz have many similarities and differences in what makes them classics, those
I love Christmas. I think it is the most wonderful day of the year. When my calander mark December 26 butterflies flutter around my stomach and I feel like a kid in the candy store . I love this day so much because I eat delicious food, see my family, and receive presents. my morning starts with a long stretch and yawn followed by a witf of Christmas dinner aroma. I can smell the stuffed and seasoned turkey as well as the cheesy mac and cheese baking in the oven. I can also smell the sugar and cinnamon
gratitude. It’s been a very difficult past 2 ½ - 3 years, to say the least, and yet it is such a relief to know that at long last, Grandma is at peace. As I prepared emotionally for this weekend, I fortunately went into it with a very burdenless heart. There have been so many tough decisions that have been made (most of which my two-generational separation from Grandma have kept me happily oblivious). But I know that the two of you have done your best every step of the way. These are always times to make
A cold, depressing, long period of time where people are upset and broke from the cost of happiness; runny noses, cheeks rosy and never feeling dressed warm enough: Is it really the most wonderful time of the year? In my eyes, it is. Winter to me; is something completely different. A time where you wake up snuggled up with the heat blaring, a time where everything around you takes your breath away and a time where what you have is cherished most. What is truly so great about winter? The atmosphere
Ladies and Gentlemen - I must admit, I am more nervous about participating in this wedding than I was as the groom (bridegroom) at my own wedding. Maybe it's because I have been married thirty years and I know what my son is getting himself in to! Joking aside, I've had a wonderful marriage and I would like to remind David and Arba that it's a serious business, and shouldn't be entered into lightly - although, at his weight, my son certainly isn't doing that. So how can the happy couple ensure
Horns blaring, tractor-trailers rush by your house and music is blaring loudly. This describes perhaps a very busy city, but certainly does not describe the wonderful town of Annville. The compact, convenient layout and multiple different land features which include woodlands, town, farmlands, and waterways are just a few of many reasons why Annville is an amazing town to live. On the contrary, everybody knows Annville is small, and usually small towns are boring, but Annville is jam packed with
friends we have, and I hope you have a really wonderful evening. Although this Marriage has brought us together tonight, I am reminded of what Billy Connelly said of Marriage: “Marriage is a wonderful invention, but then again so is a bicycle repair kit.” LOVE AND RELATIONSHIPS Because this is my speech, I can say whatever I like, and I would like to reflect for a few moments on love and relationships. This day ushers in the beginning of a wonderful new phase in lives of this couple. Perhaps
It’s a Wonderful Life is an American classic filled with nostalgia, life lessons and seasonal cheer. The musical adaptation of the film entitled A Wonderful Life, created by Sheldon Harnick and Joe Raposo, utilizes those same emotional elements to transfer the beloved story from film to stage. At its core, A Wonderful Life remains a celebration of home, family, community and the American dream. Throughout the history of the United States, there have been contrasting visions of the “good life”
Billy were literally exhausted with the work and due to some important assignments we had cancelled our vacations last year and were badly in need of a time out. We had discussed to have a trip to Hawaii from a very long time and this summer I had it and we actually pack our bags and went on. The trip to Hawaii was a wonderful experience, we had a plane ride and what I liked the most was the views and sights we get to saw. We hired a rental car from the airport and went on to the Starwood Hawaii hotel
How do I begin to describe the cuteness and wonderfulness of Goodbye Stranger with its beautiful friendships and discussions about life, betrayals, forgiveness, and inequality? It’s a book that needs to be read by everyone! Everyone! Goodbye Stranger follows: Bridge Barsamian, an accident survivor who’s trying to figure out her purpose for being alive; Emily, a rising popular girl, who has developed new curves and gains the attention of an eighth grade boy; and Tabitha Patel, a know-it-all who
bodies. The reason is because tattoos and body modifications do not tell how a person's character nor their work ethic. Just because someone has most of their body covered in tattoos and many piercings that does not mean that they are not a wonderful person and it is not great at their job. On a personal account, I have met many great people covered in wonderful tattoos and are the nicest people in the world. But, I can understand why jobs will look at a person, and understand why they will not hire them
Wedding Speech Delivered by the Groom I’d like to start by thanking Alan for his kind words and also to thank him on behalf of everyone for footing the bill for today’s festivities……… Having had a wonderful spread and knowing what we have to look forward to tonight, I now understand why he had the heating turned off all last winter! I was going to begin with ladies and gentlemen but on looking around I'm glad I didn't. So here goes. Distinguished guests, those of lesser distinction
I am extremely proud to be given the opportunity to address you all during this wonderful and momentous celebration. Each and every one of you deserves the greatest congratulations. You have paid a price to be here; put sweat, frustration, anger, effort, tears, blood and now triumph into your years at Napier High School. You all should be incredibly proud of yourselves. You know that you make your life whatever you want. And what you put in, you get out. Like the cross country girls' motto: "Where
Discuss Your Goals For the Next Four Years and Comment on Your Post-College Plans “Next stop, 66th Street and Lincoln Center, ” bellowed the cracked voice of the conductor over the loudspeaker. Those words rang in my ear like the notes of a familiar melody. Stepping off the number three train, I was immediately immersed in the scents, sounds and faces of my past. All the wonderful memories of those four years came rushing back into my mind as if they had just occurred. I was finally returning to
Devoted Hearties always notice and support every new actor who joins the Hope Valley cast in When Calls the Heart, and last year was no exception. As a member of the settlement outside of town, Nancy was introduced to us by the wonderful actress Natasha Quirke. At the end of last season, this character lost her husband, but it was a nice surprise to see Nancy return and become an integral part of Hope Valley in the Christmas special that aired back in December. Recently, Natasha agreed to answer
in Florence, studying renaissance art and art history. After this, I traveled across Europe for three weeks and experienced the many beautiful countries and cultures that exist on this continent. Studying renaissance art in Florence, the place of it's birth, was literally a moving experience. To see works that I thought only existed in books and also to live in the same city that housed the masters, was amazing. I took a drawing class as well in Florence. This proved to be a challenging and beneficial
