Math Club competed in multiple math competitions. I was chosen one of the ten students that represented my school at the Torrance Regional Middle School Math Competition. That year, I received a certificate for the highest point total for the Math Olympiads competition at my school. In addition, I placed third in the AMC 8 and my score was among the top five percent of all participants. Participating in math competitions has given me the challenges that I am always looking for, taught me good study
features of javascript coding to make games and mobile phone applications. I coded in javascript to make a game mostly by myself, with some guidance from the teacher when I ran into problems. The game resembles the life of a cell and I designed a mathematical formula for controlling the cell movement to make it look more realistic. When I grow up, I want to have an IT career because I am interested in seeing what impacts computing can have on the human life in the
which further strengthened my interest towards science. Learning science at the university of Sydney has always been my goal, and my experience of the University at the International Science School solidified my choice. Admittance into the course Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Dalyell Scholarship including mathematical sciences) will allow me to further pursue my passion and interest through completing a double major in Physics and Mathematics. The dalyell stream will also allow me
Goals 1. My first goal is to continue my education by earning a Master’s degree in Accounting right after completing my bachelor’s degree. The MSU’s Accounting program attracts me for both its reputation and its career opportunities available for international students. It is my responsibility as a future accountant to be really familiar and proficient at the tools accountants use regularly. Achieving my master’s degree will also help me achieving my second goal of becoming a CPA by meeting the requirement
by Dr. James Eales, quickly heightened my interest due to the combination of math; statistics with economics were used to prove theories, in which I found stronger and great sense to me. My attentiveness of math reflected by taking part in Mathematical Olympiad classes with high scores for six years acted as a stepping stone for econometrics study. Therefore, I doubled major in Applied Agricultural Economics, which means I must double my efforts to study than others. And I did with great grades on
inevitable destiny of favoring coffee. I ignored her. “It’s an acquired taste,” some people told me. I saw no reason to force myself to acquire it. It was a July morning in 1999. I was at the University of Bucharest, Romania, for the International Mathematical Olympiad. I waited in line for breakfast, picking up the toast, the pastries, the beverage. What was the drink? There were few possibilities. The previous week, the US and Romanian teams had been training together in the town of Sinaia, and
A little girl, about 5 years of age, sits on the sidelines at one of her older brother’s track meets. She looks on, mesmerized, hoping one day she might be able to run in a race. When he crosses the finish line, the other boys laugh and exclaim “You run like a girl!”. The boy, huffing
