this concert report I chose to go to a performance of student composers held at the Kimball Recital Hall. I chose this one because I wanted to see some of the talent that my peers have in the music realm, and also it was one of the only concerts I have been able to attend because I usually work at night. It was impressive to hear pieces composed by students. I cannot imagine creating something as complex as a musical composition, much less actually performing it, so this aspect of the concert was
CONCERT REPORT #1 I chose to do my first concert report on Pearl Jam. The concert took place at Deer Creek the weekend after class started, so it was perfect timing to do this assignment. This was the first time I have seen Pearl, and I thought it was worthy of writing a report on. If one has ever been a fan of Pearl Jam, they of course know that Eddie Vedder is the lead singer, and right beside him with his wicked lead guitar playing, Stone Gossard. The other guys on the strings are, Mike McCready

The bulk of
The final concert I attended was located in Dekelboum Concert Hall at the University of Maryland, the performers included Dr.Hinkle and the UMD Percussion Ensemble. This was their spring concert that highlighted all the work the ensemble had been collaborating on throughout the semester. The variety of repertoire focused on percussion but included a wide array of instruments from a triangle sextet, to a recreation of a John Cages Third Construction that included instruments such as congas, cowbells
The concert I attended was a recital of Mexican baroque choral music. There were 5 main pieces played, each one having its own unique style and function. The group that sang was the graduate vocal ensemble and was conducted by Daniel S. Clark. The group of singers did an excellent job capturing the music and it was very hard to notice any major mistakes. The concert in a

Winspear Hall in the Murchison Performing Arts Center is absolutely beautiful. This concert allowed me to see Winspear for the first time and everything about

Concert Report I attended the Jazz Faculty Recital on October 7 2015. It was located in Marlboro Hall Room 1076. The performers were Bobby Muncy, Shaun Jurek, Anthony Pirog, and Ian Mcolm. The concert I attended took place in the Maureen Forrester Recital Hall at Wilfrid Laurie University on Friday, November 20, 2015 performed by the WLU Percussion Ensemble. They performed eight piece of music from different time periods .This was a phenomenal experience as I normally would go and appreciate concert by a string orchestra, but this was something new. As soon as the cast walked on the stage I noticed they had very vibrant coloured shirts and ties, which provided a very appealing view
The Foo Fighters concert at the Austin City Limits has been one of my best musical experiences. The crowd, the band, the instruments, the sounds, the stage, the lighting and the amazing balance of hard rock melodies and slow-tempo songs created a night to remember. Although I was there to have some fun, I actually recognized many of the main themes that we’ve discussed in class such as the commercialization of rock, the counterculture and aesthetics of the event, and the musical connections between
Out-of-Class Concert I attended my first classical music concert on October 19, 2017. This concert was the University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra’s Opening Night. The performers were the University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra with a Clarinet Soloist – Blake McGee. It was directed by Dr. Michael Griffith. Our class had previously heard about this particular concert, so I knew what to expect as far a music pieces being played but I have always preferred to have the program in front of me. For
The concert I attended was that of Kristi Sullen, a senior and soprano vocalist. Sullen was accompanied by Dr. Joel Jones who played the piano throughout the performance meaning most of the songs being performed are homophonic. As she entered the stage for the first time of the night, she is dressed in a beautiful purple gown. She is adorned with dramatic jewelry. Dr. Jones introduces Kristi to the crowd and the recital begins. The first song she sang was “Inflammatus”, the eighth of ten movements

On November 11, I attended the “Bands for Hands” charity concert featuring the local bands Baked Goods and Shakedown Street. The band Baked Goods is typically known as a garage-style rock band, while Shakedown Street is a “Grateful Dead” cover band. The concert was held in the Forest Theatre here in Chapel Hill, and drew in a moderate crowd. Although the tone of the concert was not overtly energetic, it was well put together and enjoyable. Both Baked Goods and Shakedown Street made use of
On Sunday, October 30th, 2016, I attended a rock concert preformed by a band called The Fray. They preformed in Austin, Texas, at ACL Live at the Moody Theater. I have been a fan of their music since I was about twelve years old and have always wanted to attend one of their concerts. Since I found myself in “the music capital of the world” for college, I decided this would be the perfect time to see one of my favorite bands preform in person. I purchased a relatively expensive ticket to attend this
7, 2017, Colonia High school hosted it’s Winter Concert. Pieces were performed by the Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band (directed by Kevin Perdoni), and the Concert Choir, Women’s Choir, Acapatriots and Show Choir (directed by Alaine Bolton). I, being in Concert Band, really thought that the show was a success and that we were able to display the hard work we have accomplished since September. The first band group to perform was the Concert Band. We performed “Christmas Spectacular”, “Chanukah
The Sartell High School Band and Choir Fall Combined Concert took place at 7:30 October 17th in the high school gymnasium. The musical selections of the Wind Ensemble included a fun program piece as well as two world music pieces from around the globe. They performed “Imaginarium” and “Buenaventura”, and then combined with the Concert Band as well as all four Sartell choirs to perform “Baba Yetu.” I will be critiquing the Wind Ensemble’s dynamics and articulation. The first piece performed by the
event I was expecting a larger audience than what I saw, however I have not gone to anything like this event before so it could possibly have been a good turnout. Overall the performers all did very well and I would definitely like to attend more concerts similar to this one. The first piece that was performed by the ensemble was Lincolnshire Posy composed by Percy Grainger. I found this piece to be quite enjoyable as a whole, however one of the movements towards the end of the piece that was quite
Concert Report On November twenty-second, the concert that I attended was the APSU Wind Ensemble at the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall. The conductors of this concert were Gregory Wolynec, Christopher Dyel (graduate) and Sarah Turner (graduate). I have been to numerous concerts but never like this. When I first got to the concert I expected to hear the first instrument in the wood wind section; the flute, but unfortunately I was in shock because the musicians begin with a bass sound; the trumpet
