Have you ever watched a show named “Sherlock”? In this show, the main character, Sherlock, always say that he is intelligent sociopath. Many people wonder what is sociopath. Usually, people are under misconception that sociopath and psychopath are the same. Sometimes, person do not even aware of himself being a sociopath. However, sociopath made by environment that he is living in. Sociopath is not genetically or biologically made. Sociopath is a kind of anti-social behavior. The term sociopath was first introduce in 1909 in Germany by biological psychiatrist Karl Birnbaum and in 1930 in the US by educational psychologist George E. Parttridge, as a subtype of Psychopath. It was used to indicate that the defining feature is violation of antisocial behavior. Robert Hare, who may believe that biological factors are predominant in causing psychopathy, claimed that sociopathy and psychopathy are often used interchangeably, but in some cases the term sociopathy is preferred because it is less likely than is psychopathy to be confused with psychosis. Hare also believed that sociopath was made due to social factors whereas psychopathy was made by psychological, biological, and genetic factors. (Wikipedia) Someone who is describe as a sociopath will have several traits that make them apart from normal people. First, sociopath lacks of empathy. He is unable to feel sympathy for others or to understand the emotional result of their actions. Second, sociopath always calculates the advantage and disadvantage of his action. ...not function without an element of ruthlessness and a need to win. Could any capitalist be called a sociopath? In my opinion I believe that while this non-fiction novel does enlighten us to some degree on the nature and behaviors of sociopaths, it is not a myopic and in depth study worth putting any faith-based investments into. Also, it fails to answer a major and simple question: what does the future hold for these ‘monsters’? Will the population of sociopaths increase exponentially, until it is they who must destroy us for being the minority? Or are their numbers diminishing due to social awareness about this condition? Is sociopathy purely biological in nature or does this personality disorder also stem from personal experience or otherwise? In short, this book raises more questions that in answers, resulting in a disappointing and unfulfilled search for truth.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a sociopath as someone who behaves in a dangerous or violent way towards other people and does not feel guilty about such behavior. Sociopaths lack a conscience that allows people to decipher between right and wrong. In A Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, the narrator, Montresor, is believed to be a sociopath by many. He kills his friend, Fortunado, after he literally adds insult to a thousand of injuries. Though what the insult was and the previous injuries were never revealed to the reader, it could be assumed that Montresor probably overreacted to the Fortunado’s insult. But in order to answer this question the evaluation upon his motivation, strategy, and Montresor’s feeling and emotion towards

Antisocial attitudes and lack of conscience are the main aspects that define the notorious term, sociopath. This personality disorder may lead to nefarious people, but not all sociopaths are criminals or ensuing criminals. One woman, by the name of M. E. Thomas, is a prime example of a fully functioning sociopath in the real world. She works as a successful law professor and hosts her family and friends; however, she still has the same tendencies as those who share the same condition yet are in prison.
...ot know right from wrong, and having trouble with the law, being hostile, taking unnecessary and dangerous actions, and having no empathy for people. Sociopaths can be a danger to society unless they get proper treatment for their mental illness. However, this can be hard because patients can be egotistical, and believe they do not need treatment, or simply because they do not want to (Mayo Clinic, n.d.).
Experts believe that these two share similar traits, such as incapable of feeling or understand the emotions of others and lack of sense to determine what is right or wrong. But the key difference between a sociopath and a psychopath is the ability to have a conscience.
This article is about Sociopaths. A sociopath is a person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme antisocial attitudes and behaviour and a lack of conscience. This article explains what a Sociopath is and how someone diagnoses a Sociopath. It explains the signs and symptoms of a Sociopath and how they can possibly be treated. It shows us the differences between a Psychopath and a Sociopath. It also talks about different anti social disorders. It teaches us how to be cautious of people and look for possible factors that may tell us if that person may be dangerous.
A sociopath is a person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in severe antisocial attitudes, behavior and with a lack of conscience. The term sociopath is no longer used to describe this disorder. It is now described as someone with an antisocial personality disorder but there is no term used for it. In the dictionary, a sociopath is scripted as someone who is not mentally ill and can make their own decisions. “Sociopaths cannot love, by definition they do not have higher values, and they almost never feel comfortable in their own skins. They are loveless, amoral, and chronically bored, even the few who become rich and powerful.” (The sociopath next door). At times they just have thoughts that can go overboard.
Unlike psychopaths, sociopaths are more likely to bursting out into fits of rage, which would lead them to act out violently and mindlessly. Most sociopaths, unlike psychopaths, usually are dropouts and aren’t very educated. They live on the fringes of society and never really fit in, unlike how a psychopath can fake normality and be “apart” of a positive social group. Their crimes, violent or not, are usually sloppy and are to be found out and caught by the police far faster than compared to a psychopath.
Sociopaths have a strong need to be right. They can be convincing and an expert and knowledgeable in what interests them (Cangemi & Pfohl, 2009). Because of these personality traits, they could be good employees, leaders, inventors or even doctors. They would be able to contribute positively to society by inventing something to make people life better, or invent a cure or new medicine.

It is a common human trait to not want to be at fault for the shortfalls that can occur and so it seems likely that people would be reluctant to accept that the behaviour of those diagnosed with psychopathy comes purely as a result of the environment in which they have been brought up without at least considering the possibility of a genetic or neurological difference and so the theme being probed into is could there be something in the genetic makeup of psychopaths that sets them apart from the other 99% of the world’s population? Is there something that makes them intrinsically and permanently different?
These people usually have increased amounts of intelligence, meaning that they have an advantage over regular people. According to Martha Stout, sociopaths “have the driving nature and intellectual capacity to pursue tremendous wealth and influence” (Stout 2). They are able to use their intelligence to be successful in many aspects of their lives. For example, they can use it to get into a prestigious school, or get a higher paying job. Additionally, sociopaths are able to develop beneficial patterns of behavior by learning what didn’t previously work and changing how they act based on that (Moon 23). This allows them to hone and improve any skill that they want to. They are able to use intelligence to make more money and do well at anything they try. By using these particular traits, sociopaths not only are more intelligent, but seem smarter as
One of the things that characterize a psychopath is their lack of empathy. Psychopathy has been also called sociopathy but, there is a slight difference.
