Women face discrimination in the workplace. Nowadays, the gender inequality is a main problem in the workplace and society. It has been proved that working women earn less than men due to discrimination of class, race, and culture. Women should have the same opportunities as men. In fact, working women tend to be poorer, unhealthier, and less secure. It is important to stop all forms of discrimination against women and girl children and create more programs to help the affected victims.
Sex discrimination includes unequal treatment toward individuals because of gender. It is also illegal for an employer to discriminate their employees. Women are frequently treated unequally at work. They experience sexual harassment and/or wage discrimination. Women can face discrimination in the workplace due to class. According to researchers, upper-class women experience less discrimination as lower-class women. Also, they have different and unequal pay. Furthermore, “" Equal pay for equal work" captured the reality of women’s experiences from 1960 to 1980. Earnings and income became more important to their own support and the support of their families”(Fox-Genovece, 1 of 7). Women can also experience discrimination due to race. Racial discrimination includes treating others differently because he or she belongs to a certain race or ethnic group. Some personal characteristics are involved in racial discrimination, such as color skin, hair texture, or facial features. “Racial and sex inequalities in the structure of the labor process are systemic and pervasive. It has specific ideas about what should be done, such as support flexible work schedules, affordable child care, after-school programs, and equitable wages for moms” (Strickland, 2 of 7).
It has been extremely complicated for working mothers both, to take care of their children appropriately and work. “Government had created federal or state programs for childcare, women who had work in the law-wage sector, usually lose their jobs when their children require urgent attention. These situations make them reconsider their plans on becoming a mother” (Rosen, 3 of 7).
