A) Post a link to one of your favorite ads and in short essay format, answer the following questions: Does it persuade you? How? Why do you like it? Is there anything problematic about the ad? Also included a link to an ineffective ad, providing evidence that the ad campaign failed (cite your source in proper APA or MLA format). In your summary, explain (in your opinion) why one ad succeeds and the other fails. One of my favorite ads is the infamous ad produced by Apple, Inc. The ad can be found on Youtube, and the link is as follows: .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpM5nzSEyXE. The advertisement is was used to show Apple’s new iPod back in 2004. The iPod changed the music industry. Before the iPod, there was no access to digital music on …show more content…
I first read about the ad on google, so I decided to YouTube the ad. The advertisement is comical, yet awkward. The link to the YouTube ad is as follows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfFs0o6pCxc. The Ayds candy diet was a fad in the 1970’s that essentially was an appetite suppressant. It proved itself to be effective in the 1970’s and the sales numbers showed just that. However, when AIDS came about in the 1980’s, the Ayds candy diet took a left turn. According to the Associated Press, by 1988, the Ayds Weight-Loss sales had plummeted more than 50 percent (Ayds Weight-Loss Candy. (2006, February 21). The advertisement had the same name as the deadly disease that also resulted in severe weight-loss. Because people closely associated the names of the fad diet, and an incurable disease, it was instantly unappealing to its intended audience. People were making a direction correlation between the two, despite there was no parallel between the two. The parallel that was being made was a direct contribution to the company’s product …show more content…
In the video, 30 students were waking up early to help people begin their day with a smile. They put people in a much better mood and really can go a long way. According to Berg, Soderland and Lindstrom, smiles are a “… dominant facial expression on a human model in visual marketing” (The Truth Behind Why Smiles Sell And What This Means For Your Ads. (n.d.). These college students probably gave smiles to people on their way to work. According to CBS News, “…a new survey that found only 45 percent of Americans are satisfied with their work” (Survey: More Americans Unhappy at Work. ((2010, January 05) From this one can conclude the college students waking up early to spread positivity also addressed a much bigger issue, and left them in a better mood on their way to a job they may not be satisfied
Back when the times were different the old ad would have been flawless, but all and all the newer ad is a much better choice. The newer ad had a perfect focal point that caught the viewer’s eye. The plot of the newer ad had superior details that made the ad better than the old one. The general feeling and mood is also an abundant aspect of the newer advertisement. Selection of elements is another aspect that the newer ad has better than the old advertisement. The new advertisement is systematized better than the old advertisement. The audience is the aspect that makes the new advertisement enhanced than the old advertisement. Although the old advertisement has many great aspects, the newer advertisement has a better focal point, action, general feeling and mood, selection of elements, and audience.

Ads if used correctly are what will draw the target audience the makers are attempting to reach. Simply using a catchy catch phrase could make something people view as a horrible experience such as getting a flu shot into something necessary. Ad campaigns are successful when using persuasive media techniques to draw in their attended audience.
Advertisements are one of many things that Americans cannot get away from. Every American sees an average of 3,000 advertisements a day; whether it’s on the television, radio, while surfing the internet, or while driving around town. Advertisements try to get consumers to buy their products by getting their attention. Most advertisements don’t have anything to do with the product itself. Every company has a different way of getting the public’s attention, but every advertisement has the same goal - to sell the product. Every advertisement tries to appeal to the audience by using ethos, pathos, and logos, while also focusing on who their audience is and the purpose of the ad. An example of this is a Charmin commercial where there is a bear who gets excited when he gets to use the toilet paper because it is so soft.
We chose to analyze commercials because we were able to focus our research on both what is said, as well as what is shown. The seller has basically thirty seconds to get the viewer interested in a product and make them want to go out and buy it. They do everything possible to attract the buyer, keep them interested, and sell that product. This made the research much easier to analyze because we were able to break the commercials apart. What did they
For my second article, I chose the Click it or Ticket commercial. This commercial show pathos by the rock music playing in the background of every scenario, and how all the people tried to find a way to show they were wearing there seat belt was a bit humorous. They also have a creative slogan that sticks in your mind. This ad shows ethos by showing if you don't click it or ticket, you will get a ticket. This is ethos because it's coming from people who know what happens when you don't fasten your seat belt. It exhibits logos by telling the audience, if the don't click it, they'll get a ticket. I do not think this ad is effective
The music industry has changed in more ways than we could imagine. At first we started with artists just selling singles, then it transformed over to people buying albums, and then on iTunes started to sell songs for just cents. In the year 2005, Pandora was launched on the Internet and later they created a mobile app. Most of the artist’s music can be found on YouTube. Free downloads have affected this industry as well.
I chose these two. adverts because I feel that they will be as good as they have similarities and differences, so there are many things I can comment on. about. I'm a There is a big difference in the sales tactics of the 2 adverts.
Analysis of an Advertising Campaign We are swarmed by advertising. Companies constantly battle to compete for the sale of their product. Adverts appear in every form of media including radio; television; Internet; billboards; newspaper; flyers and magazines. The advertiser wants us to buy their product above their competitors. The basic aim of advertising is to convince the target audience that their product is the best in the field and superior to the other products of similarity.
A Comparison of Two Advertisements Introduction Advertising and media are part of everybody’s everyday life, with or without them realizing. Each day we see adverts on the television showing us new lifestyles that look glamorous, we hear adverts on the radio, we see slogans emblazoned on people’s clothes, on the side of buses, on billboards, everywhere!! Big companies know that they need to make their product appeal to as many ‘niche markets’ as possible and they do this by ‘audience segmentation’. This is when companies make an advert so that it would appeal to one type of person, and then another advert for the same product but for a different type of person. Although it is hard to know exactly when there target audience will be watching, companies will spend lots of money researching.
One important change that has occurred is the distribution of music digitally. Music now in our society is purchased through the Internet. The simplicity of having an entire library of music on one device has been adopted versus having stacks of CD’s or tapes. The emergence of the Mp3 file has changed how we listen to music. Mp3 are digital songs that are portable, provide high quality sound, and are less expensive. Essentially by eliminating middlemen, digital music took control of music away from the major record companies and put the power in the listener’s hands. Major companies such as Apple’s iTunes created the distribution of digital music. CNNMoney mentions, “iTunes is currently responsible for 63% of all digital music sales” (CNNMoney). They set the standard of 99 cents for a single song, which was quickly adopted by major music companies. Selling songs by singles provided more control ...
The music industry impacts the lives of people from around the world. With the implementation of technology, the influence of the music industry has spread to affect anyone with access to technology. Streaming services have contributed to the increased popularity of music. While there are positive effects to being able to stream music and have multiple ways of listening to it, the music industry suffers from the lack of revenue and illegal activity associated with technology. Technology has had both positive and negative effects on the music industry by affecting how people access music and how music is produced
Advertising techniques have changed and along with it, the impact they have on each individual’s mind. While there are some similarities between the different kinds of advertisements we see today, there are also many differences. Advertising has also become more unethical than it was in, let’s say, the 50s. Not all advertisements are brainless; there are a few that are even creative and fun and just pull the target audience in by entertaining them while selling them a product.
