Hello KWS parents,
The girls had great game the other day against Wyndcroft, and I could not be more proud! They pushed and played really hard in practice the day before which I think really helped them out at the game. I hope the hard work continues!
Couple of things; parents I really need to know in advance if you know your player cannot make a game. As I have told the girls, I understand people get sick and other commitments come up, but if they attend school day of a game or know in advance that they cannot make it, I really expect to hear from them the day of or the practice before. On my end it's really hard organizing drivers, and trying to organize B games when I don't always have a reliable number every game. But for the girls, it is incredibly hard to improve when players don't show up to practices or games. I also just want them to be aware they have made a commitment to this and their team, and with that comes responsibility. In the future if a player does not have an excused absence, they unfortunately will be benched at the next league game and I fully expect them to attend and making sure the equipment for our game is taken care of. I also need to

I ask that players don't arrive right at the game time but come half an hour before our first game (9:00), so please make sure your player arrives dressed or has enough time to change in the locker room. That gives us plenty of time to change for those who need to, go over the expectations of the day as well as gives us time to warm up. Also, please make sure your player has a water bottle, and I also ask earrings and any other jewelry are left at home or taken care of in advance. We have had multiple instances where someone cannot take out their earrings, forgets, or looses them. As I have said to the girls, if a player has on jewelry she cannot play as of the rules, and if they cannot take out earrings then unfortunately they must sit and
What seemed to be a very long and difficult game, the Worland High School Varsity Girls come through to winning the game against Powell. Still remaining number one in the 3A division in the state of Wyoming, Worland has put up a fight regarding their loss against Lander last year at state soccer in Jackson, Wyoming. Worland’s very first game of the season this year in 2014 was against Jackson. The defending state champions were demolished by the Warriors, and Jackson also did not score a single goal. Majority of the girls soccer players this year are very young, only three seniors are on the team this year. As observed on April 4, 2014, the Warriors went against a stronger team in their division, Powell. Not only does Powell have bigger, stronger, and faster girls, but they also started worrying the Warrior crowd after they had put two shots into the goal of the goal keeper. With the score 2-2 it became more and more intense in the crowd. Only about 10 minutes were left in the game, and like last year at state Worland did not want to go into overtime because if there was no goal after overtime match it would lead into penalty kicks. As horrifying as it is to have that kind of pressure within about 6 minutes left of the game a goal was finally made for the Warriors! The score was now 3-2, and Powell was not happy. As the head coach from Powell was jumping up and down saying that they have this game motivated his girls. However, Worland put up a fight and as close as it was Worland finishes off the game with a win. An evaluation of the game was indeed a struggle to write on; however, Anna Hepp will give me information from her perspective of the game along with the another senior, Yesie Herrera.
The team has become united and they continue to win their way through. They even had their own special warm up before the games started. The school also has become more united after the winning streak of the football players.
completed practice. They are glad to be done and to be yet another day closer to their first game
As Paige and I walked across the field towards our team I felt euphoric. Four long years of work, sweat, and dedication had led up to this night. It was the perfect end to my senior year of softball. The scoreboard just beyond the mass of sweaty, screaming softball players read 15-0. This was the final score of the district championship game, a game my team had never won before. The applause and cheers of the fans echoed in my ears for hours afterward
High school athletes should all have equal amount of playing time because everyone pays taxes to support the school.(Athlete). Also if a player shows up at all the practices and tries there hardest then they should get as much playing time as any player on the team that gets more playing time during the games.(Junior varsity player). Many parents do argue about that they always let their children stay for practice shows up to all games just for their children won’t play like if they show up to everything why wouldn’t they put them in. In fact, if they aren’t going to be putting them into play why will they make the
The team was ready, we had been working extremely hard for the past seven months for this. We were all in great shape and very rested. A few of the returning players were meeting me at my house to carpool to the final game of the state championship tournament. Everyone knew that the hard work had paid off when we won the semi-final game the preceding day.

Ohio Lightning, a travel softball organization, decided one year to make a third team for one age group. My team, Ohio Lightning 12U White was born. We were not at all good when we started out, and everyone knew it. Our team was counted out from the very beginning. However, we used tools that are now my laws of life to overcome all of our challenges and prove all those who doubted us wrong.
In many families, both parents have day jobs, leaving the student with nor ride to or from practices and games. In addition to both parents having jobs, sometimes neither parent has a job, therefore they cannot afford a car or gas to constantly run the student to and from practice. Many families also have get togethers throughout the year to celebrate various things, leaving the student the difficult decision to choose between sports and family.
Without doing this your team will be un organised and possibly have some upset parents and as a coach this is a must do. It is important to know if the coaching will take place by phone, face to face. If it is face to face discuss where and a time and how much notice to give you if they do cancel or reschedule (Miller).” Therefore, That is why communicating with both the children and the parents is another important must do for a basketball coach. Additionally, understanding children and how they can be in general psychologically. Social relationship benefits is a great benefit from basketball and here is why. Basketball requires communication between players because it is the only way a team can truly play the game right and win without any communication at all the team would be in for a doomed season or even a lot of injuries due to lack of teamwork. In order to have teamwork work you need to be able to communicate with other players which is another thing a coach must teach their players to do. Some kids also gain new friends from their team which is where social benefits comes into place. A thing most parents want kids to get from anything is gaining new friends and learning better communication skills especially at their young age of just getting used to outside of their homes. ”Social relationships and roles change drastically as
Many kids dream of being collegiate athletes, though one must wonder if all the work is worth the risk. Student athletes all around the world are having fun doing what they love and receiving a free education in exchange for their God-given talent, however many don't realize that they’re all at the same risk to be injured and forced to pay for their medical expenses on their own. Not only would they be forced to pay for their medical expense, but also there is a great chance that they would lose their scholarship and all that they have worked for their whole entire life. Countless athletes lose their scholarships due to injuries. These “Students” are required to miss nearly 4 days of school to prepare for a game in one week. These athletes
Soccer has always been my passion. I started to play when I was in second grade. I have played continuously and am now a captain of the Suttons Bay Lady Norsemen. We are a high school cooperative team consisting of players from Suttons Bay, Leland and Northport. This is our fourth year of existence and we worked hard to establish our team and its killer reputation. The part that I am most proud of is that I was among a group of girls that helped convince the Suttons Bay School Board that our high school should establish a girls' high school team. We asked to be put on the board's agenda and prepared a persuasive presentation outlining the reasons that girls at Suttons Bay High School deserved their own team. We knew that money was not available to fund the team, so we promised to find it ourselves. The Board approved our team in the spring of 1997. Our team members and parents spent long hours in fundraising to pay for our uniforms, equipment, transportation, referees and coaches.
Most institutions have similar attendance polices. Their policies include: attending regular classes on time, fully comprehending the syllabus for every class, prompt notice to instructor regarding absences due to competition and/or travel, once a certain amount of days have been missed the student is dropped, and failure to properly communicate with instructor may result in a failing grade. Policies have acknowledged the student-athlete is fully responsible for communicating with their professors regarding their attendance. They have also acknowledged students are not entitled to a certain number of absences. Most importantly, policies have stated the importance of in...
It was the start of summer 2002, and the Mid America Youth Basketball (MAYB) national tournament was taking place in Andover, Kansas. Along with the rest of the team, I was excited to play some basketball for the first time since the middle school basketball season was over. Our team, Carlon Oil, had been together and played every summer for the last four years. We were a really good team, with an overall record of 65-4 over those four years and were hoping to continue our legacy. Lonnie Lollar, our coach for the summer, was also the coach of our high school basketball team. I had a history of groin injuries, and every summer it seemed that I would have to sit out at least a game on the bench icing my groin. But this summer was different, and I along with everyone in the gym wouldn't have expected my summer to end with a injury such as a broken leg.
I was also surprised at the different types of music playing from each team. All the music blurred together so you would hear different types of songs every time you listened. Finally, I found where my team was supposed to go and walked over to find them all stretching. I found my coach and saw her smiling,” You girls all ready?” she asked. We mumbled an answer overwhelmed by the competition. Our coach already told us that no team from West Union had ever won. So our hopes weren’t high. After we finished stretching we ran through the routine a couple of times. By that time I was super nervous. Before I realized it we had to make our way to the competition
