“Get back in your car!!!” The policeman was yelling at Gerry to tell him that something was not right and he would be safer in his car. As soon as the policeman said “Remain with your family…” he was mauled over by a huge 18-wheeler that was driving out of control down the middle of the street. Gerry floored the gas pedal as he sped to safety, but was instantly halted as an ambulance ran slap into the driver side of the car. As Gerry and his wife, Karin, awoke from the crash, his ears were ringing and all he could hear in the distance was screaming and screeching sirens. He could see people running from something, although he did not know of what the threat was, he just knew that he needed to get his family to safety. It was then Gerry knew If fore say a horror film takes too long to develop then the audience will lose interest, but if the movie is fast-paced it will keep the audience wanting more. World War Z can be a great testament to the characteristic of a horror film. As I watched this film, there was never a moment that made me think “Why is this taking so long?” or say to myself “This is boring.” Throughout the entirety of this film Gerry is always running from the “monster” in this film or trying to protect someone from the so-called monster. There is not just one particular scene that shows the strengths of this characteristic, to see this look at the movie from an overall perspective. Like in the beginning, when Gerry and his family are stuck in traffic, the scene shows the cop telling Gerry to stay in his car and then the cop gets ran over which happens in a matter of four to five seconds. Another great example of the fast pace in this movie is when Gerry witnesses the first man gets thrown out of his car and gets bitten by a zombie, then that zombie runs off and bites someone else. Gerry watched as the man twist and turns as the virus strands go through his veins and he hears in the distance “1..2..3...4..5..6..7..8..9..10..11..12…trains in the station” when he hears the number 12 that man then gets up as a zombie. That showed that the virus strand spreads so fast which really effected the movie overall, In this scene Gerry’s adventure takes him to W.H.O which is a science lab that may have the cure for the virus that has plagued the rest of the world. Gerry’s plane crashes and he wakes up a few miles from the science lab, and as he walks to the lab Gerry passes out from the injuries he received from the plane crash. When Gary wakes up he is accompanied by scientist that he has to convince that he is working for the United Nations. After Gerry convinces them he tells them that he has to get to the Wing B part of the lab which is full of the virus spreading mindless zombies. Why? The cure to save the world is in that Wing. As Gerry is walking through the wing he stays silent as he does not want to attract any unwanted attention, but as soon as he opens the door…it creeks and the race is on. Gerry bolts down the hallway into the lab where the cure was thought to be he locks himself in the lab, and right as he locks the door the scientist that infected all of Wing B slammed into the glass door not breaking it. Gerry looks for through all of the test tubes trying to find the right one, and when he finds it he knows that the only way he is getting out of Wing B is that he has to inject himself with the blood sample. Once Gerry finds the sample he opens the door and lets the scientist zombie come face to face with him. It would be near insanity to say Letters from Iwo Jima constitutes an everyday war movie. Clint Eastwood not only created a film that sympathizes with the Japanese, but also acknowledges the fact that both the Japanese and Americans were wrong. The Japanese assumed Americans were cowardly fools and the Americans had been taught the Japanese were mindless imperial machines. These stereotypes are quickly cast aside as viewers of this movie acquaint themselves with Saigo and his friends. However, although this movie effectively accomplishes its goals, it still contains many inaccuracies. These errors eventually culminate to the point that the movie may seem sensationalized or even overly dramatized at points. More importantly, the cultural, geographical, and propagandized inaccuracies make it difficult to believe what Letters from Iwo Jima is trying to say; the Japanese fought even more bravely than the Americans despite what public opinion was.
My Review of Full Metal Jacket In Stanley Kubrick’s film Full Metal Jacket, the emphasis is spotlighted on the carnage of boot camp and the soldier’s life in Vietnam. The life of a soldier is not an easy one, as it requires great diligence and much sacrifice to ensure the safety and freedom to all those who are afraid and those who seek it. Stanley Kubrick makes sure that we see the harshness and ugliness of the Vietnam War as it was made to be seen. The movie starts with the life of boot camp, getting marines ready to be sent and fight over in Vietnam. The relationship between Private Joker and Private Pyle appears when the Drill Sergeant Hartman makes Private Joker the squad leader. Private Joker, is to make certain that Gomer Pyle cleans his act up and bring an end to the burdens that Pyle has put on the whole squad. Although Private Joker is trying his best to clean up the Private Pyle’s mess, he has met his match, and ultimately sees Pyle as a problem. During the scene where everyone in the squad prepares to beat Pyle with bars of soap wrapped in towels it shows that Private Joker is somewhat hesitant at first, but eventually hits Private Pyle multiple times with heavy blows. Analyzing the relationship between the two privates can be said that Private Joker was trying to help Private Pyle as much as he could, until Private Pyle suddenly breaks and it is made clear when Private Pyle is talking to himself while he is cleaning his rifle. Yes boot camp can be living hell for those who are psychologically unfit and not able to cope during times of great stress, and this can often make certain people “snap”. Much like how Marion’s paranoia develops once she is in her car, Norman’s paranoia intensifies and becomes much more evident within his first, and continuous encounters with people. In meeting his first, and only, customer for the night, Norman becomes edgy and nervous and constantly tries to engage Marion in conversation. Knowing fully well that his mother would disapprove of such interactions, Norman becomes protective, obsessive and deranged at the mention of his sick mother. Norman’s sickness combined with his obvious paranoia of people coming around him and his “mother” only leads to him committing several murders all being blamed on his mother. This sickness that each character suffers from can only leads to a greater downfall; obvious insanity.

George Romero and Maximillian “Max” Brooks are two popular screenwriters focusing on zombie stories and horror films. George Romero is an American-Canadian film director and producer best known for his horror film Night of the Living Dead (Staff, 2012). Max Brooks is an American horror author and screenwriter best known for his novel and now film World War Z (Staff, 2012). Romero and Brooks are both zombie fanatics who have many similar interest in undead creatures and numerous differences as well. The ideal view preferred in society is fast-moving zombies.
