Job Execution & Quality of Work- I rate Alicia a 2 due to some errors over the past year. On 10/09/2015 Alicia was given a deposit transaction to process in the amount $500.00. On 10/26/15, it was discovered this item was not processed. The transaction was found in Alicia’s work dated 10/09/15 and had in fact not been processed. Then 10/27/2015 Alicia received coaching and counseling on how to process her transactions as she had an unposted transaction for a customer. On 10/29/2015 Alicia was given a GL transaction to process in the amount $99.00. On 11/2/15, it was discovered this item was not processed. The transaction was found in Alicia’s work dated 10/29/15 and had in fact not been processed. Alicia does struggle with quality of work due to errors for example on 5/18/2016 teller suspense was off $540 due to Alicia not buying the money from the day before her teller drawer should have shown off. Then 8/27/2016 they were made out as 150900 instead of 1509001. Alicia have shown improvement but I feel she still have room for improvement the execution of her daily job and the quality of work.
It is amazing to see how much nonverbal communication plays such a large role in simple day to day activities. We do most without being conscious of it, as it is second nature to us. We share our thoughts and feelings with face expressions, and often feel the need to support our words with gestures to further convey our point we are trying to make. When we communicate, we can say a lot without speaking, through our body, our posture, tone of voice and the expression on our face all display a message. If our feelings don’t fit with our words, it is often the body language that gets heard and believed. Nonverbal communication is a rapidly flowing interactive process. In all aspects in life effective listening plays an important role in our lives, both professionally and personally. As many of know from experience listening is never easy in fact it can be difficult to understand what is being said by the speaker. Because of laps in attention we tend to misunderstand some of the messages that are being relayed to us or disregard them altogether. Effective listening is important for receiving the correct feedback from those you’re speaking with and requires a focus that should be central to what is being said or what topic is being discussed.
My perception of myself as being introverted and lacking confidence shows in my behaviour and mannerisms during communication with others. In my everyday life I show signs of nervousness while engaging in conversation or other types of communication. For example, I avoid confronting others because of uncertainty of the situation that may arise following confrontation. My nonverbal communication suffers in some areas because of my self-concept as well. In feedback I received during the lab activity “speed dating”, I need to work on making and maintaining eye contact and keeping open body language. According to Belcher, eye contact is especially important because it can either reinforce or diminish our verbal communication (2014). Another common comment was that I need to work on trying the “confrontation” skill. This is consistent with my own observations. Feedback from seminar activities states interpersonal communication skills I am good at include active listening (clarifying and repeating what someone has said), asking open ended questions, and making sure the “client” knows I comprehend them.
