In this increasingly globalised world, there are many factor that affected people mentally. It is a common thing for every human being to confront with psychological suffers. Each individual has different level of sensitivity. Most of the time women are considered as a sensitive and emotional gender. Women are proven to be more mentally stressed than men. They have a special hormone that could affect the emotion and the way of women thinking is differed from men. Body image issue in society also forces women to suffer from stress.
First of all, scientific researches have proved that women could develop more stress than men. In this case, the main responsible for mental illness in women is caused by hormones. Premenstrual problems could only be found in women during their menstrual period. It is common for everybody that women are more likely to get angry easier when they are on period. Hormone could affect stress in women more or less depending on that person. According to Dr.Bowen (2013), premenstrual syndrome may cause women irritability, mood swings, loss of confidence, aggression, crying for no particular reason, poor concentration, and tiredness. Therefore, hormone in women is one of the reason that women stress more than men.
Secondly, the other principal that makes women suffer from psychology stress more than men is the different way of thinking. The process of thinking in women and men take place in different side of the brain. According to a scientific study, women thinking process generate on the right side of the brain while men uses left brain to process (Brain,2010). Men can concentrate on emotions, information and relationships one at a time while women tend to mix those information altogether (Kastleman, n.d.)...

Body image is the perception, both thoughts, and feelings concerning an individual’s physical appearance. Research has suggested that exposure to an ideal standard of what it may mean to be beautiful is the norm for the media to expose a woman to. The results of an idea of feminine beauty can be disastrous for women, leading to depression, and an unrealistic body image. According to Posavac & Posavac in the article titled Reducing the Impact of Media Images on Women at Risk for Body Image Disturbance: Three Targeted Interventions...
Since they are so stressed out, the health effects have an impact on their whole health. A studied showed that the reason that many of the women suffer from the different things are because they don’t get the proper treatment (Barbee, E. L. 1992.). Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death in African American women. Breast cancer can form due to stress leading to depression in African American females (Natarajan, et.al 1985). If our ladies would have more ways to relieve their stress, we could decrease the rate of breast cancer in African American
Sex differentiation often characterizes males and females behaviour according to sex hormones, mainly estrogen and testosterone that takes place within the womb. This explains why boys play with cars, and girls play with dolls. Feminists tend to argue that this a result of social stereotypes, but alarming scientific results have shown that this is perhaps due to hormones(York, n.d., para.18). In fact, studies have revealed that problem-solving tasks are different in women and men. Females use problem-solving tasks in both of their hemispheres, whereas, males use only one hemisphere. There is also frequent evidence illustrating that males are better in spatial and math skills. On the other hand, females are considered to be better in vocabular...
Sex. Women are more likely to suffer from MDD than men. In fact, there is “a twofold greater prevalence of major depressive disorder in women than in men” (Kaplan Sadock 528). According to Kaplan Sadock, the reason for this imbalance is due to: (a) hormonal imbalances, (b) childbirth, (c) differing psychosocial stressors, and (d) behavioral models of learned helplessness (529).
...on. Afterward researchers was surprised to discover the two halve of the brain function independently. Researcher Roger W. Sperry conducted a split brain experiment in the early 1960s. He began researching the function of the corpus callosum using a cat for experiment. He cover the cat left or right eyes and taught it with a simple task. Thru this performance, he force the cat to use one side of the brain hemisphere to absorb information it perceive. The split-brain experiment produce great impact studies about people with certain disorder in the brain who have trouble with its cognitive function. The corpus callosum is the area where the left and right hemisphere is linked. This linkage is comprised of about 200 million of calossal fibers where there is continuous incessant traffic to keep the individual functioning as a ‘whole’ person. (Cassel, 2001).

First, men, like teenage boys, are expected to be “aggressive, brave, confront danger, and protect their loved ones.” The expectation to hold true to these qualities deteriorates the physical well-being and mental state of men, leading to more injuries in the long run. The mentality taught to young boys to “suck it up” when injured fosters the idea that they should not seek medical attention for injuries, which can lead to major problems in later life. Gender socialization teaches men to conceal their feelings because it is seen as feminine. Hiding emotions leads to stress and the complications that come from stress. Women are gender socialized to be the “responsible ones, the nurturers, and the caretakers.” Caretakers are known to have high levels of stress associated with attending to the needs of young children and sick relatives. High levels of stress are known to cause weight changes, depression, and sleep disorders. Second, women who have day jobs are also expected to also be housekeepers and nurturers of their families, causing added stress to women. (Day) Gender expectations of adults, set onto them in their adolescence, cause great strain and stress throughout their lives. Socialization of the genders from adolescence may have lasting impacts on the well-being of adults, but there are simple changes parents and society can make that will ease this
When it comes to feelings of stress, men tend to pull away in order to think about what is bothering them (Gray 11). Every problem is dealt with differently, based on the severity of the stress. If a man is stressed over something really challenging, it is likely that he will disengage himself and spend time alone, looking to find a solution on his own, while doing something active such as racecar driving (30). If a friend or spouse’s assistance is necessary to solve the problem, he will talk the issue over with that person; otherwise, he will not involve anyone else in his difficulty. Studies show how many times when a man is searching for a solution, he will temporarily lose his awareness of everything other than the problem, become increasingly distant, forgetful, unresponsive, and preoccupied in terms of his relationship. If one is having a conversation with a stressed man, it will seem as if only 5% of his mind is involved with the discussion. Additionally, when going through the stress, it is likely that all other problems and responsibilities will fade into the background (31). In contrast, women like to share their feelings about any and every situation and pour out their emotions and thoughts to a friend (Tannen, Talking 11). Gray notes that when a woman gets stressed, she will usually become increasingly overwhelmed and emotional. Thus, discussing and talking about her issue would calm her down (29). In
“Women are two times more likely to develop depressive symptoms then men”(Psychosocial and Behavioral Factors in Women’s Health, 1990), and women who are among the child-bearing years tend to be more at risk. However this is not to say that men are not affected by depression. It is usually, because of negative social influences, such as economic instability, and/or the inability to handle stress in their lives.
Women are bombarded by images of a thin-ideal body form that is extremely hard, if not impossible, to emulate. Comparing themselves to these women can lead to feelings of inadequacy, depression, and an overall low self-esteem. (Expand on, need a good opening paragraph to grab the reader’s attention)
Current research has demonstrated that females, on average, have a larger deep limbic system than males. Due to the larger limbic brain, woman are more in touch with their feelings, they are generally better to express their feelings than men (“Male-Female Brain Differences”). Women are the primary care takers for children because of their strong ability to be connected and bond well with others. Containing a larger limbic system also leaves a female more likely to become depressed. As stated in “Male-Female Difference”, women attempt suicide three times more than men, but men actually succeed three times more than women. This h...
Depression is most common in women. The rates are twice as high as they are in men. According to the National Mental Health Association, about one in every eight women will develop depression at some point during her lifetime. Women’s symptoms are similar to major depression. Some of them include being in a depressed mood, loss of interest in activities you used to like, feelings of guilt and hopelessness, and suicidal thoughts or recurrent thought of death. Women tend to blame themselves, feel anxious and scared, and avoid conflicts at all costs. They also use food, friends, and love to self-medicate. Some causes of depression in women are premenstrual problems, pregnancy and inf...
To begin with, men have much more testosterone than women, which accounts for the aggression that they have when it comes to activities such as sports in which competition is involved. Whereas, women have much more estrogen than men, which accounts for the nurturing tendencies that they have when it comes to children or people who are in need. In addition, Men, on average, have twenty-five percent less corpus collossum in their brains, which means that they have the ability to think nothing. Their brains are only active when they are focused on something and so; they are unable to focus on more than one problem at a time. In contrast, women’s brains are always on the go as they are active twenty-four hours a day. Women are multi-taskers and can keep many things in their head at the same time and are able to solve problems amongst multiple activities. These characteristics go back to the cavemen days when the men were hunters and had to be focused and quiet in order to capture their prey. Women, on the other hand were the gatherers in the village and were always looking for something, either food or material to make clothes, etc. while watching over their children. This ability that women have to think ab...
