Music and films: Good reputation for the Soundtrack
Music and movie usually have gone together. Actually, before 'talkies' arrived, the only real seem you'd hear inside a quiet movie could be music. Quiet film star, Charlie Chaplin was among the finest physical comics to ever sophistication the big screen. But regardless of this, without music without anyone's knowledge, even his best films could be missing something. There's without doubt about this, music adds a psychological element to whatever might be occurring on film. Music can enhance and punctuate the whole spectrum of human emotion. Can anybody make a movie without music? Can you even wish to?
One the very first great musicals, the 1939 fantasy masterpiece and timeless classic, "The Wizard of Oz", starring the velvet voiced Judy Garland, is most likely most peoples' first contact with a film musical. The longtime children's classic in regards to a Kansas farm-girl named, Dorothy, who, together with her dog, Toto, is taken away with a tornado towards

Director, Fred Zinnemann fillmed the film within the available spaces of Arizona. The aesthetically beautiful film was large, vibrant, and colorful. However, the cinematography didn't overpower Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical score, but instead accompanied it. Oklahoma is classic musical film fare for those audiences. Remember "Oh Exactly what a Beautiful Mornin"? That song, together with other classics adorned the film's soundtrack. Another Rodgers and Hammerstein musical introduced towards the giant screen in 1965 with movie classic results, may be the superbly shot, "Seem of Music". The memorable tunes and Julie Andrew's outstanding performance because the governess of the wealthy man's children in Nazi occupied Austria, is an excellent musical concerning the human spirit's capability to be uplifted by song when confronted with unspeakable
Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein were both writers and producers in the theatre, but, their collaborative venture in the 1940’s introduced a new era of musical theatre. First, they wrote the first musical in which every element: music, lyrics, narrative, and even dance contributed to telling the story, each part blending and woven into the whole. Their new idea was a huge sensation with audiences, and brought with it, new recordings of shows with albums and records to follow and revival productions around the world. The duo changed the fate of musical theatre practically overnight, but, it couldn’t have been done without the projects, big or small, that got them there, their

It included several very popular stars of the time, which were Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and Nipsey Russell. The movie set place in New York City where the main character, Dorothy, suddenly is swept by a tornado in the middle of a snowstorm. She later then found herself lost in a city she had no clue about and curious as to how she could return home. Throughout the movie characters apply their own soundtrack through singing songs in harmony that compliment the mood of each scene.
The Sound of Music soon became a film. It premiered on March 2, 1965. Julie Andrews played the part of Maria, who played Cinderella before. There has been at least one revival since, on March 16, 1998 in New York.
“Were off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of oz” One of the infamous phrases from one of the most well know classics of all time. The original movie titled The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was made in 1939 by Frank Baum. This film featured stars such as Judy Garland, Jack Hayley and many others. This was not only a movie, it was a fantasy, and a musical storytelling adventure with unusual characters that shook the audience. This was one of the first films to make it to the big screen with color. Because of its success, this film has been remade many times with multiple different spins making it rhetorical. Over the years this film has become one of the best films of all time and is still watched today among all ages
Scene: This scene in the film comes just after the house has been picked up in the twister. Dorothy's house has been lifted up into the sky and suddenly dropped back down to earth in the middle of the Land of Oz. In the scene itself, Dorothy leaves her home to see that she is "Not in Kansas anymore," and finds the new and amazing world of the munchkin city in front of her. She also meets Gwendela the good witch as her journey in Oz begins.
What makes a film interesting? What makes it stand out from other films? What makes it unique? The visual design aspects of color and lighting in a film play a major role in giving the film meaning and depth. A lot of thought goes into what colors and lighting should be used that will help convey a mood and theme central to the film. You wouldn’t see dark colors and lighting used in a children cartoon, instead you see bright color and bright lighting. And vice versa; most horror films don’t focus on bright colors and bright lighting. In The Wizard of Oz (Dir. Victor Fleming, 1939) , the director uses bright colors and lighting to portray the moods of happiness, joy and innocence in Dorothy’s life. In contrast, dark colors and lighting that go hand in hand with the evil parts of Oz portray the
In conclusion, everyone who enjoys the magic of Broadway and the fantasy world of Hollywood must watch Chicago. Every single film we watch has a major theme. The text describes theme as, “an idea, plot, or topic of some kind that pervades the plot. It is not so much what happens, but rather what the movie is about, part of the meaning you are expected to take away from the work” (Goodykoontz & Jacobs, 2014). The theme of The Wizard of Oz is made very clear within the film because it is announced by Dorothy herself; stating, “there’s no place like home” (Langley, Ryerson & Woolf, 1939). I believe this simple phrase is the major theme, viewers were supposed to take away from this fascinating work. No matter where you go or what they have to offer you, there will be no other place you can truly call home, other than that in which you have grown to know as home. Many different techniques and elements from The Wizard of Oz contribute to this production to reveal on of the most meaningful major movie themes of all times.
“With pop culture apparently suffering from a retro epidemic lately, today’s 60th anniversary of Singin’ in the Rain provides a chance to look back at a film that was ahead of its time in the way that it, too, looked back” (Bahr). Even though it wasn’t all too successful in the awards department, Singin’ in the Rain stuck with audiences because it was so far ahead of its time. It took advantage of all the latest technology while still keeping its “classic movie” feel. In addition, the film implemented both original and well-known songs into the story. This makes the film feel familiar but fresh and new to its audiences. “…Singin’ in the Rain’s jokes and light parodies of actors and Hollywood are still surprisingly insightful and effective” (Bahr). Having been the most researched musical in all of film’s history, it was probably the most correct parody of Hollywood that the industry has ever seen
“Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.” In case you haven’t seen the film already, the plot to The Wizard of Oz (Oz) is profoundly complex and requires critical inquiry to unravel its intricacies. Dorothy, a forlorn Kansas farmgirl, daydreams of a fanciful fantasia where her dog, Toto, doesn’t have to suffer the nuisance of a nasty spinster witch of a neighbor. So, she plans to run away – far, far away. I know, a little weighty, but stick with me.
Music can decipher a narrative event by indicating a perspective. To unify a set of diverse images and provide rhythmic and formal continuity and momentum, a film’s structure is more often than not, directly articulated by a musical structure. Music can assist the dialogue and visuals of film and often is inaudible (e.g. music is meant to be heard unconsciously, not consciously). Music has been used by directors to reinforce or strengthen certain weak scenes in film and then on the other hand when music is not needed to reinforce a scene

...ing sounds and transmit them into the human heart. Without movie music, films would be dull and boring. The importance of film music is considered a jewel for manipulating the viewer’s emotions and immerses them into the movie. Music is one of the most important elements in film, for it capabilities and versatility of telling a story independently without picture.
Also, music plays an important role in culture by being entertaining. Let's face it; people listen to music because it's exciting! It can affect a person's thoughts and feelings towards a particular subject, but not ultimately change their mind, which is what makes it so pleasurable. What else would put life in the world if music didn't? Music provides background music for almost everything in a person's everyday life. Try to imagine what television would be like without music. There would be no catchy jingles to stupid commercials that would end up getting stuck in your head for days and no theme songs to your favorite shows. Even a movie without sound would make you not want to watch it. Whether you think so or not, a soundtrack to a movie makes a person emote to the screenplay more- it makes you feel what the actors are feeling. That is what makes it so entertaining! If there were no songs to a movie, you might as well just not watch it at all. And what about a cell phone? How would you know when to pick up your phone if you didn't hear it ring your favorite song? Hearing that ring tone on a phone provides a small source of entertainment, but also serves a very important purpose.
