There are many crazy and wacky conspiracy theories that are contrived every day. Conspiracy theories can be made up by anyone, especially in today’s technology driven society. It all becomes questionable when proof is bought into the matter. Although they are not always true, people will go out of their way to think up silly things that may prove it correct. There are loads of theories that are proven to be false. Carefully dissecting each detail within the theory is the only way to be for sure whether it is true or false. Among all of the interesting conspiracy theories, are the sinister messages found in the Wingdings font. When NYC is typed in the Wingdings font in Microsoft Word, a skull and cross bones, a Star of David, and a thumbs-up hand gesture appear. Many believe this signifies the approval of killing Jewish people from or in New York. There is also a theory that Microsoft planted a hidden message of the September 11, 2001 attack on the twin towers in their Wingdings font. There are claims of this being true, and many of it being false.
The NYC acronym in the Wingdings Microsoft font raises concern and has many people worrying. Microsoft denies there was any intention, or credibility to the anti-Semitic message. They issued a statement which included the following: “the conclusion was that the sequence in the Wingdings character set is coincidental and that there was no malicious intent” (Glasner). With the amount of characters in the Wingdings font, it is almost impossible not to come across some acronyms or words that may appear to have underlying meanings. Microsoft also claims:
“Using the example of the alphabet, what would happen to existing documents and applications if we switched around a handful of letters?...

...s. It is proven false that Q33NY has anything to do with September 11th, the Twin Tower attacks, the planes involved, or the bus route used for the airport from which the planes were hijacked. It is very easy to take any bit of information and twist it and turn it into a completely different story or piece of information. Once a theory is made public, everyone jumps on the band wagon and does everything they can to make it true, even if it isn’t. If common sense and careful time is taken to actually think about the silliness of this argument, it will be very clear to most people that this is a false conspiracy theory.

There are a bunch of conspiracies in this world and there's a few on the tragedy that happened on September 11, 2001. One of the theories is that inside traders knew about the attacks before they happened. As said in an article, “in the days before 9/11 there was a huge increase in the number of put options purchased on their airlines, compared to the normal average daily volume.”(Davis) Before I explain what that means the article also mentioned, “ this huge increase in the volume of put options suggests that the people buying these put options knew in advance that 9/11 was about to happen.” (Davis) What the quotes are saying, is that a few days before 9/11, out of nowhere, there was an huge increase in the airlines, that were hijacked, stock markets. The conspiracy theory is that the government was aware of the attacks the entire time but because they were making profit, this did nothing about it.
There were several conspiracies about the planes that attacked the Twin Towers. One of the planes left Boston's Logan Airport at 7:59 a.m. The hijackers zoomed the plane into the North Tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46 a.m. The other plane left Logan Airport at 8:14 a.m. The hijackers flew the plane into the South Tower of the World Trade Center at 9:03 a.m. America had stated that 10 planes were suppose to be hijacked on that day. “Providing new details on the planning of the plot, the commission staff said that al-Qaida planner Khalid Shaihk Mohammed initially proposed a Sept. 11 attack involving 10 planes that would be used to attack CIA and FBI headquarters, unidentified nuclear plants and tall buildings in California and Washington state,” (Brunker). Both planes that flew into the Twin Towers were Boeing 767. The plane was 159 feet long. Another thing that seemed odd was that 9,700 gallons when it should usually have nothing less than 14,000 gallons. The engine was found on Murray Street when it should have been right around the Tower. Things were said about the plane being like a missile since the engine was dropped so far from the Towers. According to German TV footage, the planes front nozzle was caught on fire before going through the building. Conspiracy theories state that there were three things attached to the plan that were likely to explode. After the plane went into the building the plan some how exploded making it look like a missile went into the building or some how it was some sort of bomb. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, drew out the plane and the way the plane was flown into the Towers and it did not seem right. The plane propellers of the Boeing 757 were smaller than the hole it actuall...
Jones and Wheeler know how to write to their audience, which are mainly writers. Their purpose was to present a different framework of document design, UDD, as the better alternative to the accessibility and usability frameworks. They do so by carefully analyzing each method and pointing out their benefits and handicaps before praising the method they suggest. Their
The official story of 9/11 is a conspiracy theory in that the government claims 19 hijackers conspired together to hijack four planes and create terror in the world. Four American airplanes were hijacked; two were driven into the World Trade Centers and the third airplane into the Pentagon. The fourth airplane suspected target was the White House, but it was diverted by the brave men and women aboard that hijacked airplane, and crashed the airline jet before it could reach its target. It was like time stood still as America watched through television broadcast these unbelievable and horrifying events taking place. The reports told of the smell the jet fuel, burning flesh, and people jumping out windows to their death to escape the flames. When the two bravura structures tumbling down, rescuers, (police officers, firefighters, and ambulance drivers and techs) were caught in the mast and lost their lives doing their job trying to save lives.
Flight 19 was the designation of five TBM Avenger torpedo bombers that disappeared over the Bermuda Triangle on December 5, 1945 during a United States Navy overwater navigation training flight from Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale, Florida. All 14 of the airmen on the flight were lost as well as the 13 crew members of a PBM Mariner flying boat of professional investigators which is thought to have exploded in mid-air while searching for the flight. Navy investigators could not determine the cause of the loss of Flight 19 yet many researchers argue otherwise claiming that there is a specific cause for the disappearance of Flight 19.
Brian Keeley’s short essay, “Of Conspiracy Theories” discusses conspiracy theories and their value in an epistemological context. Keeley defines a conspiracy theory as “a proposed explanation of some historical event (or events) in terms of the significant causal agency of a relatively small group of persons-the conspirators-acting in secret (Keeley 1999, pg. 116).” Keeley seeks to answer the question of why conspiracy theories are unwarranted. His interest in the warrant of conspiracy theories focuses on ¬the unfalsifiability of conspiracy theories and how conspiracy theories are founded upon an extraordinarily large amount of skepticism. In section III, Keely discusses what a conspiracy theory is, and contends that there is no grounds for distinguishing a warranted conspiracy theory from an unwarranted conspiracy theory (UCT). Keely expands upon section III in section IV, by introducing falsifiability and skepticism and giving a deeper analysis on the difficulties of UCTs. In section V, he discusses the issues raised and the implication of their popularity. A brief conclusion is given is section VI, in which he discusses the morals that should be taken away from the essay.
Is the government covering up the truth about the September 11 event in New York City or it’s just classified information that the world is not ready for. For many Years people around the world have came up with all these conspiracy theories about 911. theories such as Flight 93 being completely staged, there really was no second plane, some even say inside traders knew about attacks before they happened. These theories have many people wondering if the government really is covering up the truth about 911. Though no one can prove whether some 911 conspiracies are true , there are many suspicious events leading up to the tragedy that point to foul play.
Introduction The introduction of the printing press changed society permanently. Along with this invention came the emergence of mass production of texts. Suddenly, information could be efficiently replicated, thus facilitating the dissemination process. Widespread alphabetic literacy, as Havelock states, could finally become a reality.
In researching this and many other conspiracy theories, one can see many uses of sensationalism, mainly by the media. This media- the news (local and national), magazines, tabloids, television shows, movies, and so on- has a huge effect on people who are exposed to it.... ... middle of paper ... ... Similar to real life we have symbols that signify power, and Washington D.C. is a good example of that. Wiebenson goes into great detail about the power of symbols on Pennsylvania Avenue, “These few examples show more than the power of symbols which encourage a citizenry to respect its government. They also demonstrate the growing strength of local interests and the intent to have the city symbolize that residents are also people. The battles recorded here show that national symbols still have great power.” (Wiebenson 20) He believes that the power of symbols is not only about respecting its government but how each symbol demonstrates the growing strength of the people in it. Although there are no major buildings in the novel, the conch shell, Piggy’s glasses and the fire show how symbols wield different amounts and kinds of power. When each is destroyed there is a weakening in the power one can get from them. The use of symbols is crucial to this novel, thus, William Golding helps shows us that an object is so much more powerful than it may first
Do you believe in the moon landing conspiracy? There are various theories that skeptics compose to attempt to accuse NASA of faking the Apollo moon landings, although all these simple explanations will prove these theories wrong. The moon landing conspiracy was “claimed” to be a hoax since it was the only time the U.S. has ever landed on the moon was under Nixon’s administration, and the reason for this is after we finally made it to the moon the interest for the USSR else to make it there died out just like the flow of money that had been invested into the missions; skeptics attempt to say that it was faked since even with the technological advances we haven’t been back to the moon, but this is easily proven wrong by simply stating that the

Since the beginning of settled civilizations, people have had more mutual sharings than ever before. By the same token, there have been some conspiracy theories that are usually against the culturally accepted beliefs of religions, science and society. A conspiracy theory can be described so differently. However, as in his text, Marshall Brain explicates, a conspiracy is generally defined as a theory seeking to explain a disputed case or matter as a plot by a secret group or alliance rather than an individual or isolated act (Brain). Especially, after the new media has become quite popular, more and more conspiracies are theorized every single day, which aim to catch society’s attention via such media tools as the internet, journals and newspapers. Thus, people who theorize those conspiracies tend to use such objects as spiritual and mysterious ones in order to interest people. To illustrate, many examples can be given. For instance, many people have claimed that they were abducted by aliens, although they could show no evidences. Here, a citation from Blackmore could facilitate to understand the circumstance better. She states that people occasionally claim that they have been abducted from public places by aliens, in this case that may provide them with witnesses and affirmations but no evidence could be shown so far (Blackmore). As it is well known, only a small number of people believe such alien abductions, however, rating of this kind of news is quite high on media, because humankind has been wondering if there are extraterrestrial creatures out of the earth. Another example can be conspiracy theories which are about the origins of religions such as the rejection of Jesus Christ. There are some people who pay attention to...
