It wasn 't until recently that I decided that I was going to give up my plan to learn radiology and instead follow my passion for working with animals. Since I was a kid, I have always had a strong interest in animals and their welfare. But it isn 't realistic to own 40 pets so the next best thing is working with them and help make a difference in their lives while I 'm at it. Wildlife rehabilitation is the best label for what I want to do, they take care of orphaned and sick animals in hopes that they can be reintroduced back into their natural environment. A wildlife rehabilitator raises awareness about the challenges facing endangered animals and helps to monitor and boost wildlife populations. I must be prepared to accept death, and possibly extinction, as a sad reality of life. Many wildlife rehabilitators have difficulty dealing with the death, senseless human cruelty and suffering often encountered when attempting to rehabilitate wild animals. Also, being animals of instinct I can’t expect a guaranty of personal safety. But, I look forward to alleviating wild animals’ suffering, getting to work and bond with wonderful people, helping urbanites regain some connection with nature, and, of course, taking joy in releasing animals back into the wild knowing that you 're making a positive difference in their …show more content…

Thanks to the Explorer Channel and the popularity of nature programs on TV, there is now a huge demand for people willing to take care of animals in their natural environment. The demand for wildlife rehabilitation has steadily increased over the years and is expected to continue growing. For wildlife rehabilitators that are employed by an organization, salary is usually in the $25,000 to $35,000 range, not great. But most aren 't in the job for the money, they find the job itself rewarding enough. I would feel honored to join this noble
