Wifi:
The radios used for WiFi communication are very similar to the radios we see in phones and televisions. They can transmit and receive waves, and they can convert ones and zeroes into radio waves and convert the radio waves back into ones and zeroes. Although, WiFi radios have a some distinguishable differences from other radios. They transmit at frequencies of 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. Keep in mind frequency is considerably higher than the frequencies used for cellphones for example and because of this, can transfer a lot more data at higher speeds.
Data is sent digitally in packets. Each packet is identified with the individual device's MAC address and IP address, which are unique. This way, nothing gets confused. Interestingly data is also sent in form of packets when transferred over Ethernet cables.
One aspect this technology is a “hotspot”. A WiFi hotspot is what we call an area with an accessible wireless network. The term though is most often used to refer to wireless networks in public settings such as restaurants and malls. While some are free, a lot require fees for use. They may either charge by the data you use or the time connected to the network. It is a huge convenience but it sometimes will come at a price; even hotels are known to charge a significant amount for their internet connection. With most smartphones you are even able to create your own WiFi hotspot. This is possible because of as previously explained, WiFi radios are a two way system being able to both transmit and receive. Doing this will convert your phones receiving LTE or 3G data packets into the transmission of WiFi signal.
A wireless router is what uses an antenna to send signals to wireless devices and a wire to send signals to the Internet.

One con to mention though would be the lack of security. There are encryption measures put into place, but it is hard to ignore this is a fairly automatic connection format. That is the concept of the technology and there aren’t many ways around it. The easy of connectivity is partially why the product is so successful. This unfortunately allows people to share unwanted information if wanted (eg. hackers).
“The Car Whisperer is a piece of software that allows hackers to send audio to and receive audio from a Bluetooth-enabled car stereo. Like a computer security hole, these vulnerabilities are an inevitable result of technological innovation, and device manufacturers are releasing firmware upgrades that address new problems as they arise.” – HowStuffWorks.com
What is done to information to send it from one location to another on the Internet? It is broken into packets that travel across the internet and the packets take the most avaiable and efficient path and eventually all come together where they are suppose to be.
Generally speaking, typical scenario of communications networks interaction consists in a bunch of devices trying to communicate with each other by using the same medium. Home wireless networks, cellular networks, Ethernet environments are only a few examples of this setting.
A small Bluetooth chip is inserted into a device, the chip replaces the cables and carries all the information normally carried by cables. Then the device transmits the information at a special frequency to a receiver Bluetooth chip via an antenna (made of copper wiring) attached on to the Bluetooth chip. The wave is produced by the movement of the electrons up and down in the antenna when data is transmitted from the master device. (Freeman, 2001) The Bluetooth chip and its antenna are shown in figure 1.
Radio waves exist in a frequency range of 3 kHz (kilohertz) to 300 GHz (gigahertz). Microwaves take up the higher intensities of this range, from 300 MHz (megahertz) to 300 GHz, however, commercial microwave ovens usually average around 2.45 GHz. (Cheung, “Frequency of a Microwave”). Because microwaves are simply intense radio waves, they can be used for communications, just as radio waves can. In fact, the waves used for cell phones and wireless internet are actually microwaves.
There has been a plethora of advancements in networking technology over the past decade that have greatly impacted the way people live each day. One advancement in particular would be Bluetooth, which was invented by a group of engineers at a Swedish company named Ericsson in 1988. Bluetooth is used to transfer data over short distances using radio transmissions. The main intent for Bluetooth was to communicate between cell phones, computers, and peripherals. It can be utilized as ad hoc networks, data and voice access points, and cable replacement purposes. Due to the low price Bluetooth is a great technology that can be utilized to make everyday operations easier. Some of the advantages of Bluetooth are wireless headset connectivity and media transfers from mobile devices. Disadvantages of Bluetooth include battery power/poor security and slow data.
Users can connect instantly and easily to the internet through their wireless devices anytime anywhere.
By transmitting signals at 2.4 or 5 GHz, it allows the waves to transmit more data at a faster rate. Typical Wi-Fi standards are 802.11a, b, g, n, or ac and they can switch up the frequency depending on the model (Brain). Families can create their own wireless network that can be shared between family members without the use of hooking all their devices up to the modem, and can also protect their home network from potential hackers with the use of a TKIP or AES encryption. Businesses can also create a “hotspot” which is an area that has wireless networks for free or at a set fee. This is extremely convenient for commuters that need internet access while they are at work, waiting on a plane, or just sitting at a coffee spot without the need for wires (Cox).
technologies such as Bluetooth and ZigBee which are used to carry the information from perception devices to a nearby gateway based on the capabilities of the communicating parties. Internet technologies such as WiFi, 2G, 3G, and 4G carry the information over long distances based on the application. Since applications aim to create smart homes, smart cities, power system monitoring etc.
frequency carrier while the user is moving within a telephone service area. In addition to telephony, modern mobile phones support a variety of other services, such as text messaging, email, Internet access, short-range wireless communications, business applications, gaming, and photography. Cell Phones which offer these and more general computing capabilities are referred to as smartphones. Cell Phones are now a way of life in the generation we live in and call home today, and cell phones have changed and benefited our world. By means of texting , making calls, gaming applications, saving people’s lives , helping people while
A cell phone is essentially a two-way radio consisting of a radio transmitter and a radio receiver. When you talk to your friend on your mobile phone, your mobile transfers your voice into an electrical signal, which is then transmitted through radio waves to the nearest cell tower. The network of cell phone towers then replays the radio wave to friend’s cell phone, which converts it to an electrical signal and back to sound. Cell phones transmit radio waves in all directions.
Wireless is everywhere today whether at home working from your WIFI network to work where you might be linked a wireless network or even through your phone through a 3G or 4G network to connecting to an open wireless networks. As you can see for the most part people are connecting to wireless from the moment they leave their home till they get to work and then back. While wireless comm...
Accessing the cyberspace is the first right should be granted in order to have privilege of and exercise the rest of the human rights on the internet. The internet has a very big impact in people’s life and what they have become today, especially with all the opportunities this medium provide for them to exercise their basic human rights. It has allowed the freedom of many voices to be heard in ways that was merely impossible before this revolution. Not only it has given people the rights to express and associate, but also the right to education as it allows to access many educational materials. In fact, accessing this virtual place has become a necessity to fulfill many other human rights including the right to work, and the right to take part in country’s government. Therefore, internet access should be a public right that ensure information and internet accessibility, usability, and availability for all people regardless of gender, place, and income.
Nowadays cell phone and technology are progressing by leaps and bounds and almost everyone has some kind of electronic device like iPad, cell phones or tablets. Those days are gone. Those days are gone when people were depending on their desktop computers in their homes and workplaces, this is advanced period and innovation has made it very easy for people to communicate with each other and as the business area is also progressing and people like to check their emails and call their contact or do business meetings on Skype. In this case, if they are traveling from one city to another it will create disturbance in their work if there is no internet or Wi-Fi available. People believe that Wi-Fi technology should not be free in every city and there should be proper charges, but I believe that it is very important for every city to keep the Wi-Fi service free for their citizen.
Introduction: This is a 21th century, technology is the most important and improved thing of the human life. It makes life easier and faster. Development of faster sophisticated technology we have better and fast life. So all we are connect each other by computer network. There are two different way of network: Wired and wireless. Now day we can found network almost everywhere. Home, business, public place, Airport, Planes, hospitals, school, train everywhere we can found networking. Therefore, almost every sector of the economy that has affected by wired and wireless technology. Wired network and wireless protect both has security, But in general wireless network is less secure than wired networks. For proper security AP (access point) and its antenna should be right position. Also add a wireless access point or use a wireless router we can connect to network wirelessly. AS we using more and more of devices (smart phones, tablet and computers) rely on wireless networking, we have to improve our network security too.
