Often times its hard to imagine how the world survived without cell phones. Its an automatic response, when you see a car accident you take out your cell phone and dial for help, or when a child is waiting for a ride they will call their parents to see how far away they are. It is a great convenience for society to be able to do such things. Imagine if you didn't even have to call somebody to find out where they were. It may seem like a futuristic idea, humanity being capable of such mind reading; however, the advancement of GPS, global positioning systems, those ideas are coming to life in the present. GPS is a way to track one's position at anytime. This is done through the use of satellites monitored by stations on the ground. There are signals transmitted from a given satellite to the receiver on Earth. It is this information that gives precise location to one's whereabouts.

Cell phones play an integral role in our lives, and we conduct many useful functions through them daily. If a mother wants to inform her kids that she would be late to pick them up from their school, the cell phone would provide a good medium to communicate that message. The cutting-edge technology of cell phones at your fingertips is a very powerful device that can be used to connect with people from all around the world, and it can also save lives as well in emergency situations. However, public institutions such as schools and libraries have gotten to the point where cell phones have become a major controversial issue. Improper cellular usage by the youth mainly caused this. Not just the youth, but adults too are unknown of the potential the cell phone has in terms of accessing information quickly and efficiently. Misuse of the revolutionary aspects of cell-phone technology among the youth and adults alike needs to be recognized in order for cell-phone technology to truly be beneficial to our society in public institutions.
There are many reasons why people choose to use cell phones. It makes it easier to access social media sites, gives in to impulsivity, the need to belong, and boosts self-esteem. Most teenagers find cell phones critical to preserving their social lives and staying in touch (Abel 102). Cell phones are also quite useful for things like companionship, seeking information, making appointments, mobility, fashion, and immediate access. They help people feel like they belong by providing frequent social interactions, thus avoiding loneliness.

Video chatting, people use to make a video call where they can see the person they are talking to library book store app, the old days people will have to buy the books from bookstore but now people can download any book they want and save to their phones.
My paper is on Cuba, In Cuba it is hard to get wifi because you have to pay a lot of money and even then you still have to wait forever. So to be able to post images, surf the web, or talk to family and friends. In the United States, we have wifi and it's easier for us to do the things we want when we want, but they have to pay $5 to use wifi and Cuban people barely even make that much during the week.cubans make twenty dollars a month. In Cuba only 5% of the people can get on the wifi and even then it is extremely slow. To upload pictures, download files,or even watch videos. It could take hours or even days. Most phones such as, Smartphones, iphones, Blackberry handsets, and Android devices have become more common in recent years. In 2011,about 11% of Cubans owned a mobile phone most of them received from family members in the U.S.,in 2009 they only had 430,000 had mobile phones.
As technology advanced, more people became interested in owning their own telephone to keep them connected and televisions to stay informed and later for entertainment. As early as fifteen years ago, cell phone usage was the same way. Today, it is rare to find an individual who claims not to own a cell phone. People cannot imagine what life would be like without them. Year after year, each new device boasts incredible new features.
Many Americans enjoy the sense of security and organization that they feel their cell phones give to them. They like being able to change their schedules on the go, to have a phone in case of emergency, to have a guide in case they get lost, and to take part in the upcoming technological wave that our world is enduring. People like to be up with the times, and always enjoy having a new toy. The only problem is, most people overlook the potentially serious outcomes stemming from cell phone use and abuse.
Seventy-six percent of adults age 18-29 who own a cell phone and 84 percent of adults age 30-39 who own a cell phone say they used it to get news in the past week, while just 59 percent of adults age 40-59 and 37 percent of adults age 60 and over say they did so.
Even as I sit here typing this paper, my own shiny, rectangular piece of molded plastic and metal lies inches away from my fingertips, beckoning me to use it. Looking out the window, one of the first sights I see are people walking with one hand up to their ear, evidence this technology is in use. I can count on one hand the number of adults I know who do not own one these mobile devices. People are now able to be virtually accessible almost anywhere at any time.

Cell phones are progressively becoming more accessible and reliable as days go by in such a way that creates a safer and protected environment around us. The many ways and situations one can use a cell phone is becoming more free and diverse than what phones were intentionally made for, that is, to communicate through speech. Cell phones have become an anytime, anywhere tool used for texting, taking pictures, recording videos, making video calls, saving files such as a presentation, and many other things such as listening to music or playing games (Ling 22).
Since the invention of the cell phone by Marty Cooper in 1973 (Trowbridge), we have benefited from not being tethered to a landline. I have enjoyed the luxury a cell phone 's mobility provides. Getting an important a phone call from anywhere without being tied to one place can be extremely useful. I have had many phone calls about an emergency business need that I might have resulted in a deal gone bad if I missed the call while away from the office or home landline. Conversely,
Like the rest of the world, I cannot go a day without my phone. Try leaving your phone at home for a day and let me know how you feel. With the growing technology my phone is like my arms and legs. It is my must- have- can’t live without phone. It is my connection to the outside world. It is my connection to other people’s lives and theirs to connect with mine. The “cell phone” started out as a form of communication via calling and then it exploded with text messaging. Now it seems that most people would prefer texting then calling someone.
